MegaNovel Review: Free First Chapters, Then Two Separate Paywalls

Free openings, then about 35 coins a chapter

Each novel opens with free chapters; reviewers count anywhere from four to fifteen before the first lock. Play and App Store reviewers from 2024 to 2026 describe chapter prices starting near 12 to 19 coins and settling at about 35 by chapter 20 to 40. The US App Store sells 200 coins for $1.99 up to 2,000 for $19.99, so 35 coins is roughly 35 cents. Free credit comes as Bonus: reviewers describe 15 to 20 for the daily check-in plus a few more for up to seven rewarded ads, and say Bonus expires. Serials are long: Kingsman Return runs to 1,073 chapters, and one App Store reviewer spent $40 to reach chapter 182 of 1,171. Prices are regional and can change.

Shorts and the $19.99 Weekly Membership: two paywalls

The Short tab and Short Story Rank list hold compact drama and romance stories, the source of most complaints. Since at least March 2026, Play and App Store reviewers report that Shorts open only with a subscription: coins and ad credits do not work on them, and the subscription does not unlock regular novels. The US App Store lists a Weekly Subscription at $9.99 and $19.99 and a Weekly Membership at $19.99, renewed unless cancelled 24 hours before the period ends. Many of these readers arrived from in-game ads promising a free full story. Check for the Short label before paying. Two September 2026 reviewers also say auto-unlock kept spending coins after they switched it off.

System serials, a male-oriented contest and the $150 writer bonus

The Play listing's trending list leans on urban and System titles such as The Charismatic Charlie Wade and The Transcendent Zombie System, and the 2026 Annual Writing Awards are open to male-oriented books, in Urban and Fantasy tracks, of at least 100,000 words. Writers can apply for a contract after 10,000 words. The exclusive contract pays a 50% profit share, a $100 signing bonus for 50,000 words within 60 days and a $150 Monthly Attendance Bonus for 50,000 words over 25 update days; from the fourth payment, that bonus also needs $20 of monthly profit share. The writer page says AI writing is not encouraged and can cost bonuses, yet about a dozen 2026 reviewers call the stories AI-written or poorly edited.

Tracking identifiers, 15-day deletion and the GoodNovel difference

Apple's privacy label lists identifiers used to track you across other companies' apps, device ID for third-party advertising and coarse location. The Play form adds app interactions, in-app search history, user IDs and, optionally, installed apps and photos. Under the December 2022 privacy policy, account deletion takes up to 15 days and wipes unlock records and any top-up balance. Google Play rates the app Mature 17+, while Apple rates it 13+, citing infrequent sexual content or nudity. GoodNovel, from the same publisher, shares the 200-coins-for-$1.99 pack and the $19.99 Weekly Membership but centres on romance, has 10M+ Play installs against 1M+ here, and its terms refund a completely unused top-up within 7 days. These terms, dated January 2022, call payments non-refundable and have no such clause.
