Best AI Transcription Apps, Ranked
Every transcription app advertises free minutes, and almost none of them means the number the way you would. One caps each recording at three minutes,
Transkriptor records meetings and voice notes, imports audio, video and YouTube links, and returns an editable transcript with speaker labels, AI summaries and an AI chat that answers questions about what was said. Minutes are the currency: Lite gives 300 a month and Pro 2,400. The main limit sits in the trial, which credits 90 minutes yet shows only 5 minutes 36 seconds of any file longer than 7 minutes.
Specs come from the official store listings and were last checked on 2026-10-06. Developers change pricing and requirements — check the store page before installing.
The help center describes the trial account in plain numbers. You get 90 minutes of transcription, but each file's output is cut to 80 percent of its length, up to 7 minutes, and anything longer than 7 minutes shows 5 minutes 36 seconds. A trial account also processes one file at a time, and the export article says the full set of formats needs a paid plan. That is the complaint behind many one-star Google Play reviews: people record a long lecture, then find most of it behind a purchase. Developer replies there cite a 3-day free trial. The website describes the free tier two ways, as 90 minutes in the help center and pricing FAQ and as 30 minutes a day on the home page. An account is required before anything runs.
Three settings do the real work. Labeled Speakers lets you upload or record a voice sample, so saved profiles tag familiar voices in later files. Speaker Counts sets how many people to expect before transcription; otherwise voices appear as Speaker 1, Speaker 2 until renamed, and a prompt asks whether to remember each name. Summaries come from a Template Library with formats for sales, marketing and education, plus custom templates kept under My Templates. Language is chosen per upload, one language per file, and reviewers say mixed-language meetings come out wrong. One App Store reviewer in August 2026 saw speakers mislabeled and got usable text only with the speaker feature switched off, so check recordings with crosstalk. The help center lists 12 audio and 13 video upload formats.
The pricing page lists Lite at $9.99 a month for 300 minutes and Pro at $19.99 for 2,400, about 3.3 cents a minute against 0.8. AI summary, custom summary templates, AI chat and the knowledge base appear only under Pro, although the Google Play description says the free plan includes AI chat and summary. Pro on an annual plan is $99.99. The App Store lists the 300-minute monthly plan at $11.99, and Google Play shows in-app items from $9.99 to $179.99. Minutes reset monthly with no rollover. The two privacy labels also disagree: Google Play declares no data collected, while the App Store lists identifiers and usage data used for tracking. Prices are USD, regional and can change.

Transkriptor earns 6.6 for speaker profiles, summary templates, 25 listed import formats and an Apple Watch recorder, held back by a trial that hides most of any long file. Take it for single-language interviews, lectures and meetings you are willing to pay to read in full, and test one short file first. Skip it if you expect a free tier with full transcripts or mix languages inside one recording.

Only as a trial. The app is free to install and credits 90 minutes of transcription, but the help center caps each file's output at 80 percent of its length up to 7 minutes, and longer files show 5 minutes 36 seconds. Full export options need a paid plan, and you must create an account first.
Yes. It labels voices as Speaker 1, Speaker 2 and so on, and you can rename them, with a prompt to remember each name for later files. Labeled Speakers stores a voice sample, and Speaker Counts lets you set how many voices to expect. Reviewers still report misattributed lines, so check meetings with overlapping speech.
The pricing page lists Lite at $9.99 a month for 300 minutes and Pro at $19.99 for 2,400, or $99.99 a year. Team is $30 per seat monthly for 3,000 minutes. The App Store lists the 300-minute monthly plan at $11.99. Prices are USD listings, vary by region and can change.
It depends where you paid. Website plans are cancelled under Settings, Billing, Change Plan by choosing the Free Plan with 90 minutes. Plans bought in the app are cancelled through the App Store or Google Play. Deleting the account or the app does not cancel a plan, and unused days are not refunded.
Otter's free plan gives 300 minutes a month with 30 readable minutes per conversation, which suits longer recordings than Transkriptor's 5:36 trial preview. Notta's free plan allows 120 minutes a month at 3 minutes per recording, rising to 5 hours on Pro. Check each pricing page, because these limits change.
