Wordtune Review: Handy Rewrites, but $24.99 a Month in the App

The free tier: 10 rewrites a day and 3 summaries a month

The app is free to install, and the website's Basic plan sets the free ceiling: 10 rewrites and AI suggestions a day, 3 AI summaries a month, and unlimited spelling and grammar checks. Advanced lifts that to 30 a day and 15 summaries, and Unlimited removes the caps. The App Store, though, lists only two in-app products, Premium Monthly and Premium Yearly, so the website's three tiers do not map neatly onto the app, and we could not confirm which daily cap the keyboard enforces for a free account. Paid plans start with a 3-day trial, the website says it does not offer refunds, and students and educators with a .edu address get 30% off.

Rewrite tones: General, Casual, Formal, Shorten and Expand

You switch to the keyboard with the globe key, select a sentence, and the Rewrite tab returns alternatives you tap to swap in; the store screenshots show three or four per sentence, filtered by General, Casual, Formal, Shorten or Expand chips. Create with AI is the second tab: type a request such as an email to a colleague and it offers three drafts, with Clear and Insert buttons under the result. Siri can start it with the phrase Create with Wordtune. The keyboard added Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, German, Hebrew, French and Russian in 2024, and text typed in them can be rewritten into English. Rewrite works one sentence at a time, and a 2023 reviewer says each sentence uses up a rewrite.

$24.99 a month, and why Allow Full Access matters

The App Store lists Premium Monthly at $24.99 and Premium Yearly at $119.99, while the website's Unlimited plan is $9.99 a month, so check which plan your account is billed on. Prices are US figures and vary by region. Four of the 126 US reviews we read complain about the $119 yearly charge. Setup also asks for Allow Full Access, which Apple says lets a keyboard send keystrokes to a server. The store label lists email, name and user ID as linked data, advertising data as used for tracking, and typed emails or messages as unlinked content; the privacy policy retains personal data until it is deleted or you ask.

Pros

  • Rewrite offers General, Casual, Formal, Shorten and Expand modes on each sentence
  • Create with AI drafts texts from a prompt, and Siri can start it
  • Text typed in seven other languages can be rewritten into English
  • Proofread reached all users in version 2.0.7, and version 2.0.10 shipped in May 2026
  • Free to install at 188.6 MB, with a 3-day trial on paid plans

Cons

  • Premium costs $24.99 a month or $119.99 a year on the App Store
  • Setup needs Allow Full Access, which lets a keyboard send what you type to servers
  • Reviews from 2025 and 2026 report a vanished keyboard and broken autocorrect
  • The website offers no refunds, and 22 of 50 low reviews we read cite charges

Verdict

We score it 6.2: five rewrite modes, Create with AI and Proofread work in most iOS apps, while a $24.99 monthly App Store price, no refunds and the Allow Full Access requirement pull it down. Take it if you write many emails or texts a day and want English rewrites of text typed in another language. Skip it if you want a free keyboard, watch subscription costs, or prefer a keyboard that sends nothing to a server.

Core function7.5Five rewrite modes, Create with AI and Proofread cover emails and texts, though Rewrite works one sentence at a time.
Ease of use6.5Two tabs keep it simple, though reviews cite stuck onboarding screens and an iPad intro that does not fit.
Monetisation4.5Premium is $24.99 a month or $119.99 a year, refunds are not offered, and the website's free cap is 10 a day.
Performance6.0Version 2.0.4 fixed an occasional keyboard freeze, yet 2025 and 2026 reviews still report broken autocorrect and a missing keyboard.
Privacy & permissions5.5Allow Full Access is needed, the label lists advertising data for tracking, and the policy retains personal data until deleted.

Frequently asked questions

1

Is Wordtune free on iPhone?

Yes, the app is free to install, but the free allowance is small. The website's Basic plan gives 10 rewrites and AI suggestions a day and 3 AI summaries a month, with unlimited spelling and grammar checks. The App Store sells Premium at $24.99 a month or $119.99 a year, and paid plans start with a 3-day trial. Prices are US figures and can change.

2

Can Wordtune rewrite my texts in any iPhone app?

Yes, in most apps once the keyboard is enabled with Allow Full Access: switch to it with the globe key, select a sentence, open Rewrite and tap General, Casual, Formal, Shorten or Expand. Create with AI drafts text from a prompt instead. Rewriting works one sentence at a time, and text typed in seven other languages comes back as English suggestions.

3

How much does Wordtune Premium cost, and is it worth it?

The App Store lists Premium Monthly at $24.99 and Premium Yearly at $119.99, against $9.99 a month for the website's Unlimited plan. It pays off mainly for people who rewrite many messages every day, since the website's free tier stops at 10 rewrites a day. Use the 3-day trial first, because the website does not offer refunds. Prices are US figures and vary by region.

4

How do I cancel Wordtune and delete my data?

Cancel in iPhone Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Wordtune, before the trial ends or the billing date arrives. The website says it does not offer refunds. Deleting the account goes through Wordtune support, and the privacy policy says personal data is stored until it is deleted or you send a valid deletion request.

5

What are the best alternatives to Wordtune's keyboard?

Grammarly: AI Keyboard & Voice, rated 4.7 from 225,434 App Store ratings and needing iOS 17.4, and QuillBot, rated 4.7 from 3,031, are the main rewriting rivals; Wordtune holds 4.4 from 988. Microsoft SwiftKey AI Keyboard is a free typing keyboard with no paid tier. Compare the free limits of each before paying.
