How to Cancel Minecraft Realms on iPhone and Android

Minecraft Realms is cancelled from inside the game: Settings → Subscriptions → Cancel next to the Realm, which sends you to the store that bills you — Apple, Google or Amazon on a phone — to turn off recurring billing. Mojang's help centre is explicit that the subscription "needs to be canceled through the same account used to start the subscription," so a Realm started on an iPhone cannot be cancelled from an Android phone or a PC. The Realm stays open until the renewal date, and the world is not deleted when billing stops. Below are the exact routes for each store from Mojang's own pages, and what happens to the world afterwards. Realms Plus is $7.99 a month as of September 2026.
Before you start
Know what you are cancelling. In Minecraft Bedrock Edition — the version on phones — Realms Plus is Mojang's own hosting: a world that stays online while you are offline, up to ten friends inside, three world slots, and Marketplace Pass bundled in. It costs $7.99 a month, with the first month free for new subscribers, and it is optional; the $6.99 game does not need it, and joining someone else's Realm costs nothing. Cancelling Realms does not affect the game you bought.
Know which store billed you. Mojang's help centre: subscriptions "need to be canceled through the same game platform account used to start the subscription." On a phone that means the Apple ID, the Google account or the Amazon account you were signed into when you subscribed. If you cannot remember, the receipt email or the store's subscription list will say.
Know what happens to the world. Mojang's mobile-cancellation page: "your Realm will still be accessible until the renewal date, but payments will no longer be automatically charged." The world itself is not deleted by cancelling — download a copy before the renewal date if you want to keep playing it locally.
Step 1. Cancel from inside Minecraft
Mojang's first route works if you are still on the device you subscribed from:
- Launch Minecraft Bedrock Edition on that device.
- Select Settings.
- Select Subscriptions in the menu on the left.
- Select Cancel next to the Realms subscription. You are redirected to the store you subscribed through.
- Follow the store's on-screen steps to turn off recurring billing.
The Cancel button does not cancel anything by itself; it opens the store's subscription page. The next step depends on which store that is.
Step 2. Finish in the store that bills you
iPhone or iPad. Mojang's route is through your Apple account in a web browser: sign in with the Apple ID used to subscribe, select Subscriptions in the menu on the left, select the Minecraft Realms subscription, select Cancel Subscription. On the phone itself the same list is at Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Android. Mojang's route is the Google Payments profile page in a browser: sign in with the Google account used to subscribe, select Minecraft: Play with Friends in the Subscriptions section, select it again on the Payments & subscriptions page to see the Realms details, and select Cancel subscription. Note the name — the Play Store lists Minecraft as "Minecraft: Play with Friends," which is what to look for. On the phone, the same list is in the Play Store → profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
Amazon Fire. Amazon.com in a browser: sign in, open the username menu → Memberships & Subscriptions → App Subscription Settings for the Realm → Actions → Turn off auto-renewal, and confirm in the pop-up.
Java Edition, if you also play on a PC: Mojang notes those Realms are cancelled through the Microsoft account, not a store.
Step 3. Check the renewal date and save the world
After cancelling, the store's subscription page shows the date access ends. Until then the Realm behaves normally. If the world matters, download it before that date: in the game, open the Realm's settings and use the download option so a local copy exists on the device. After the renewal date the Realm is no longer hosted, and reactivating later requires a new subscription.
If it does not work
There is no Cancel button in Settings → Subscriptions. You are on a different device or account from the one that subscribed. Mojang's rule is strict on this — go to the store's own subscription list on the original account instead.
The Play Store shows nothing called Realms. Look for Minecraft: Play with Friends; that is the listing name the subscription sits under on Google.
You cancelled but were charged again. Check the date on the charge against the renewal date shown when you cancelled. A charge dated before cancellation is the final period. A charge after it means the cancellation did not complete in the store — repeat Step 2 and look for a confirmation.
The Realm disappeared immediately. It should not — access runs to the renewal date. If it did, the subscription had already lapsed for another reason, such as a failed payment, and the store's page will show it.
Marketplace Pass content stopped working. Marketplace Pass is bundled with Realms Plus, so cancelling Realms ends it too. Mojang's help centre has a separate article on using Pass content across devices; a standalone Marketplace Pass is $3.99 a month.
Bottom line
Settings → Subscriptions → Cancel in the game, then finish in the store that bills you — Apple, Google or Amazon — on the same account you subscribed with. The Realm stays open until the renewal date and the world is not deleted, so download a copy first if you want to keep it. And the game itself is untouched: $6.99 bought it once, and Realms was always the optional part.
