It has a 4.8 from 63,559 App Store ratings and a 4.6 from 188,000 on Google Play. Stardew Valley Mobile Review: The Whole Farm for $4.99, Minus Co-op

The Full 1.6 Game — Farm, Mines, Marriage, Community Center

Nothing is cut. You inherit a grandfather's overgrown plot outside Pelican Town and build it however you like — crops by season, animals, artisan goods, a customised farmer and house — while the town runs on its own calendar of festivals, villager quests and 12 marriage candidates who lead to a family. The mines and Skull Cavern supply the combat and the treasure, the rivers and sea the fishing, and the Community Center bundles give the whole thing a spine: an August 30, 2026 Play reviewer is 56 hours in on year four with two bundles left and a ton of dungeons still to do, and calls it a gem for mobile while wishing the combat were smoother. The mobile build carries the 1.6 update — new town upgrades, dating events, crops, fishing ponds, hats — and the March 2026 iOS patch added Game Center leaderboards for Junimo Kart endless mode and deepest Skull Cavern floor.

Auto-Select Tools, Janky Sticks, and a Screen That Misses the iPhone 17

The port's own ideas divide players. Auto-select swaps to the right tool for whatever you tap and auto-attack handles monsters, and a September 8, 2026 five-star says it is the best feature — the reviewer has got further on mobile than on PC. Others find the touch options janky: an August 22 three-star loves the game and says the controls remove any hope of a PC-like experience, a September 16 five-star calls it hard on mobile, and a September 9 four-star asks for controller support although joy-cons have connected since 2023. The newest problem is the display: three September 2026 reviews report the interface not fitting the iPhone 17 — toolbar blocked, energy bar and date box cut off — with the in-game scaling options not fixing it. Bugs on record: a beach-farm house move that leaves the mail icon behind, and a September 16, 2026 cloud-save prompt that loaded a Winter Year 3 save over Spring Year 4.

$4.99, Nothing Else, No Data — and No Multiplayer

The price is the whole model: $4.99 once on either store, no advertising, no in-app purchases and, on Google's data-safety card, no data collected or shared; Apple lists no tracking. A 2019 App Store reviewer's reason for five stars was exactly that it is not a repeat of every other mobile game. The omission is co-op: the mobile version is single-player only, and a September 16, 2026 three-star asks for it — PC, console and Switch have four-player farms, phones do not. The iOS build is 464 MB on iOS 13 or later, with iPad and Apple Vision listed; Android goes back to 5.0, one of the lowest floors on the store, with 11 languages. Rated Everyone 10+ on Play for simulated gambling, alcohol and tobacco, 13+ by Apple. Android is on version 1.6.15.3 from June 27, 2026, iOS on 1.6.15.1 from March 19. Prices are regional.

Pros

  • The complete 1.6 game — 50-plus hours, 12 spouses, mines, fishing, festivals
  • $4.99 once, no ads, no purchases, no data collected
  • Auto-select tools and auto-attack that some players prefer to PC
  • Auto-save and offline play — no internet needed, per a September review
  • 464 MB on iOS 13 or Android 5.0, iPad and Apple Vision included

Cons

  • No multiplayer — the four-player farms stay on PC, console and Switch
  • Interface does not fit the iPhone 17, per three September 2026 reviews
  • Touch controls that fans of the PC version call janky and hard
  • A cloud-save prompt that rolled one player's farm back a season

Verdict

An 8.6: the complete Stardew Valley, offline, for $4.99 and nothing more — the fairest deal on either store — with a port whose touch controls split its own fans and, as of September 2026, does not fit the newest iPhone. Take it if you want the farm in your pocket and can live with auto-select doing the thinking. Skip it if you want co-op, or if you have an iPhone 17 and want the interface right on day one.

Gameplay9The farming RPG every other one copies, intact; combat is the one part reviewers call rough.
Controls6Auto-select is a real improvement; the sticks are janky and the iPhone 17 layout is broken until a patch.
Replay value9Year four at 56 hours with bundles undone; new farms, spouses and leaderboards after that.
Graphics & sound8The pixel farm and seasons at phone size, with the soundtrack that made the game.
Monetisation10One $4.99 purchase, no ads, no data, and every update free since 2018.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play Stardew Valley offline?

Yes — it is single-player with no ads and no online features, and a September 14, 2026 App Store five-star's one-line review is that you do not need internet. The only online element is the optional cloud save, which a September 16 reviewer would rather have avoided after it loaded an older save; back up locally if you use it.

2

Is Stardew Valley free on mobile?

No. It is $4.99 on the App Store and Google Play, paid once, with no advertising and no in-app purchases; Google's card also declares no data collected. Every update, including 1.6, has been free to owners since the 2018 release. Prices vary by region.

3

What phone do you need for Stardew Valley?

iOS 13 or newer with 464 MB free, or Android 5.0 or newer — almost any phone from the last decade. The catch is the newest one: September 2026 reviews say the interface does not fit the iPhone 17's screen even with the scaling options, so on that model wait for a patch. Controllers and joy-cons connect, and iPad and Apple Vision are supported.

4

Can you play Stardew Valley with friends on mobile?

No. The mobile version is single-player; the four-player co-op farms exist on PC, consoles and Switch but not on phones, and a September 2026 review asks for it. Saves do not transfer between mobile and PC either, so a shared farm has to live on one of the other platforms.

5

How long is Stardew Valley?

The listing says 50-plus hours and the reviews agree: an August 2026 player is 56 hours in at year four with the Community Center almost done, and a September reviewer on year five still has a bundle open. The game has no ending that stops you — a farm runs as long as you like — and a second farm with a different map and spouse is a second run.
