How to Delete a CapCut Account and What It Takes With It

Add ScoredApps as a preferred source on GoogleFilm-strip video cards and a reel feed into a shredder on a dark table — How to Delete a CapCut Account and What It Takes With It

Deleting a CapCut account is done from the Manage account page inside the app or the web editor, and the terms of service are blunt about what follows: once you delete it, the account cannot be reactivated and the data in it cannot be retrieved. There is a second route through the privacy request form if the first one is unavailable to you. The part most people miss is that deletion does not stop a Pro subscription bought through Apple or Google — that billing sits in the store, not in CapCut, and has to be cancelled separately.

Before you delete: two things that are not the same

Cancelling Pro stops the money. Deleting the account removes the account. They are separate systems, and doing one does not do the other.

If your subscription was bought inside the iPhone app, it lives in Apple's subscription screen; if on Android, in the Play Store; if on the web, in your CapCut account. Deleting the CapCut account does not reach into Apple's or Google's billing, so the charge can keep arriving after the account is gone. Cancel the subscription first — our guide to cancelling CapCut Pro covers all three places — and delete afterwards.

The second thing to settle first is your work. CapCut's terms say plainly that it does not guarantee the permanent availability of your content and advises you to keep your own backups. Export anything you still want before the account goes.

Deleting the app is not deleting the account either. Removing CapCut from a phone frees the space it occupies — 809 MB on iOS before a single project — and leaves the account untouched on the servers. Install it again, sign in, and everything is back.

Step 1. Delete from the Manage account page

The terms name the route directly: you can delete your account through the Manage account page on the platform. It is reachable from your profile in the mobile app and from the account menu in the web editor.

Expect a confirmation step and a sign-in check. The account has to prove it is yours before it will accept an instruction this final.

If you signed up through a linked account rather than an email address, sign in the same way you always do — the deletion page works from whichever login the account uses, and switching methods at this point only adds confusion.

Step 2. If that page will not do it

CapCut also accepts deletion requests through its privacy request form on the website. That route exists for cases where the in-app page is unavailable — a device you cannot sign in on, an account tied to a login method you have lost.

The form is slower, because a person processes it, but it ends in the same place. Send it from the email address the account uses, if you still have it; that is the fastest way for anyone reading the request to match it to an account.

What deletion actually takes with it

Once the deletion goes through, the terms are explicit: the account cannot be reactivated, and the account data cannot be retrieved. In practice that means the cloud side of CapCut — saved drafts, anything synced, template history, and the login itself.

Projects stored only on your phone are a separate matter: they live in the app's own storage on the device, and removing the app takes them with it. That is why exporting first matters more than it sounds.

Exporting is also the only version of your work that survives either way. A finished video saved to the phone's gallery is an ordinary file — it does not care whether the account behind the editor still exists, and no future change to CapCut's terms can reach it.

If it does not work

The charge arrived anyway. The subscription was not cancelled before deletion, and it is billed by Apple or Google. Cancel it in the store — the account being gone does not stop a store's billing agreement.

You cannot sign in to reach Manage account. Use the privacy request form instead; it is designed for exactly that case.

You want a clean slate, not an ending. Signing out and starting a new account keeps everything recoverable. Deletion is the option with no way back, and the terms say so in as many words.

Bottom line

Do it in this order: cancel Pro where you bought it, export the projects you care about, then delete the account from the Manage account page. Reverse that order and you can end up with no account, no projects, and a subscription still charging you every month. CapCut makes deletion easy and permanent — the terms promise no reactivation and no data recovery, so treat the confirmation screen as the point of no return.

What survives the deletion

Deleting the account removes the account, not everything it touched. Videos already exported to the camera roll stay on the phone, and anything shared or reposted elsewhere stays where it was posted — those copies are outside the account entirely. Plan accordingly: export what you want to keep before the account goes, because the projects inside it do not come back.

Frequently asked questions

1

How do I delete my CapCut account?

From the Manage account page in the app or the web editor. CapCut's terms name that route directly, and also accept deletion requests through the privacy request form on their website if you cannot reach the page.

2

Can I recover a deleted CapCut account?

No. The terms of service state that once you delete the account you cannot reactivate it or retrieve any of its data. Export anything you want to keep before you confirm.

3

Does deleting my CapCut account cancel CapCut Pro?

No. A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play is a billing agreement with them, not with CapCut, and it keeps renewing until you cancel it in that store. Cancel first, delete second.

4

What happens to my projects when the account goes?

Anything synced to the account goes with it, and drafts kept only on the phone disappear when the app is removed. CapCut's own terms advise keeping your own backups, so export finished videos before deleting.
