GameChanger is free for coaches and team staff, who can score, stream and see every stat and video for the teams they run; fans are the ones who pay. Free accounts still get scores, alerts, animated play-by-play and unlimited live video in most sports, but baseball and softball streams stop after five free games. Owned by DICK'S Sporting Goods since 2016, the app now shows ads during live streams, even to subscribers.
Specs come from the official store listings and were last checked on 2026-10-01. Developers change pricing and requirements — check the store page before installing.
Anyone listed as Staff gets every feature free for the teams they directly manage: scorekeeping, streaming, season stats, spray charts, full event videos and highlight clips, but not for opponents or teams followed as a parent. Free accounts keep team chat, the calendar, RSVPs, final scores, live alerts and the Animated GameStream, and live video stays unlimited in basketball, soccer, volleyball and other non-diamond sports. Baseball and softball are the exception: since the February 2026 update, free viewers get five full-game streams, then need a subscription, Family Plan or Team Pass. Plus mainly unlocks streams; Premium adds archived games, clips and season stats.
AutoStream uses machine learning to pan a tripod-mounted phone across a basketball court or hockey rink, so the parent filming can watch. You drag markers around the court boundaries first (rinks skip that step), and moving the phone means ending the stream and outlining again. It runs only on iOS; GameChanger says it plans to add Android later, and external cameras are excluded. Full HD 1080p streaming works on both platforms via HEVC compression, but 1080p AutoStream is blocked on the iPhone X and older and on seventh-generation or older iPads. Leaving the app for about 30 seconds pauses the broadcast for all viewers; longer ends it. On cellular, one game can use several gigabytes.
The privacy policy, updated November 17, 2025, says the service is meant for a general audience and is not directed toward children under 13; account holders cannot be under 13. Children still appear: when a team admin or league registers a child as a Player, the parent or child may supply Player Data and video, and the company says it does not knowingly collect under-13 information without express parental consent. Posted Player Data and media are treated as generally available to the public, even when a team restricts access, and the policy allows sharing with DICK'S businesses and advertising partners. Staff choose whether season stats are open to fans, confirmed families or only each player's family, and whether streams go to Anyone or Players & Family Only. Box scores cannot be hidden.
US list prices, subject to change: Plus is $9.99 a month or $39.99 a year, Premium $14.99 or $99.99, and the Premium Family Plan $24.99 or $179.99 for four accounts, sold only at web.gc.com. A Team Pass, bought once per season by staff or a confirmed parent, opens paid features to every follower of one team: $239 for Plus, $449 for Premium. Once five families would each buy annual Premium, the pass is cheaper, though it covers only that team. Paying does not switch ads off: 15 of the 150 newest Play reviews (August 22 to October 1, 2026) complain about ads during live games, several from Premium or Family Plan payers, and company replies say ads may appear during natural breaks in play.

The 7.3 rewards what coaches get for nothing: scoring, 1080p streaming, clips and insights for the teams they run, plus offline scoring. It loses points for the five-game baseball and softball paywall, ads that reach paying families, and a privacy policy that treats posted player data as public. Coaches and team admins should install it; relatives following basketball or soccer can stay free. Baseball families who hate ads during at-bats should price a Team Pass and SportsEngine Play first.

Partly. Free accounts get team messaging, final scores, live alerts, the Animated GameStream and unlimited live streams in every sport except baseball and softball, where viewing stops after five free games. Archived games, highlight clips and season stats need Premium. Coaches and staff get everything free, but only for the teams they manage.
AutoStream turns a phone on a tripod into a self-panning camera for basketball and hockey. You outline the court once (rinks need no outline), and machine learning follows play end to end. It works only on iOS, not on Android or with external cameras, and 1080p AutoStream needs an iPhone newer than the X.
Premium costs $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year in the US; Plus, aimed at live streams, costs $9.99 or $39.99. The Family Plan shares Premium with three more accounts for $24.99 a month or $179.99 a year and is sold only on the website. First-time subscribers get a 7-day trial. Prices may change.
Cancel where you paid: Apple, Google Play or web.gc.com, which is the only route for Family Plans. Canceling stops renewal but does not refund or prorate the current period. Deleting your account does not cancel billing, and a former player's name stays on past rosters, stats, recap stories and clips.
TeamSnap starts at $0 for a single team, but there the coach pays to unlock availability tracking and larger rosters, whereas GameChanger bills fans. SportsEngine Play, part of Versant Media's SportsEngine, lets teams stream free from its app and sells viewers subscriptions and event passes, a model closer to GameChanger's.
