About ESPN: Live Sports & Scores

The ESPN app is free for scores, news, alerts, ESPN Radio and the vertical Verts video feed, but live games sit behind two Disney subscriptions: ESPN Select, which is ESPN+ content only, and ESPN Unlimited, which adds the cable networks, ESPN on ABC and now NFL Network. Free vs. ESPN Select vs. Unlimited: Where the Paywall Starts

Without paying, the app works as a scoreboard and newsroom: a Favorites row, a My Games strip, push alerts, live ESPN Radio, podcasts, the Verts tab and fantasy stats. For live streams, ESPN Select ($13.99 a month) is simply ESPN+, with soccer, PGA TOUR, NHL and college events; ESPN Unlimited adds ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPN on ABC, NFL Network and CW Sports. SC For You, the daily AI-assembled SportsCenter, is withheld from Select subscribers. The betting tab is powered by DraftKings, ESPN's official sportsbook and odds provider since December 1, 2025; the former ESPN BET sportsbook now runs as theScore Bet under PENN Entertainment.

Multiview and StreamCenter: Four Games at Once, Chosen by ESPN

Multiview splits one screen into up to four live events. It launched on connected TVs such as Roku, Fire TV, Samsung and LG, and the late-September 2026 mobile update now lists it in its release notes. The catch, per ESPN's help center: combinations are pre-curated, so you cannot pick your four games, and the feature requires Select or Unlimited. StreamCenter is the companion layer. It detects a live stream on the TV, syncs stats and alerts to the phone, and resumes a game on another device from the same spot. September 2026 Play reviews describe the TV pairing failing even on the same Wi-Fi network.

$31.99 Alone or $35.99 With Disney+ and Hulu: The Real Unlimited Bill

US prices rose on September 17, 2026, and vary by region: Select is $13.99 a month or $139.99 a year, Unlimited $31.99 or $319.99. Disney's bundle page sells Disney+, Hulu and ESPN Unlimited for $35.99, only $4 more than Unlimited alone; an ESPN and FOX One bundle costs $39.99. Even the $44.99 premium bundle, which removes ads from Disney+ and Hulu, keeps ESPN ad-supported. Logins from YouTube TV, DIRECTV, Spectrum, Xfinity and other providers may include Unlimited at no extra charge, but dropping that TV plan cancels the ESPN access. Streams are capped at three devices in one household, and local games can be blacked out based on your IP address; League Pass in the NBA app has local blackouts too.

Location, Tracking and Nielsen: What the Privacy Labels Disclose

Streaming requires location access: ESPN's blackout policy says the service will not work without it. Apple's privacy label lists identifiers as data used to track you across other companies' apps and sites, and links coarse location, contact details, user content and usage data to your identity. On Google Play, the developer declares that approximate location, name, email, user IDs and app interactions may be shared for advertising, and that data is not transferred over a secure connection. Nielsen measurement software is built in, with an opt-out in Settings. From the 2026 NFL season, ESPN Fantasy Football shares players' names, emails and in-platform activity with the NFL unless they opt out.
