About Icon Pack Studio

Icon Pack Studio is a free Android icon editor from Italy's Smart Launcher Team: you design one style, from shape and color to textures and filters, and it draws a matching icon for every installed app, including ones no ready-made pack covers. Community setups and imported icon packs can serve as starting points. The main limit is the launcher: Pixel Launcher and Samsung One UI Home cannot apply its packs, and Smart Launcher is the recommended pairing.

Icon Pack Studio Review: Every App Themed, but Not on Every Launcher

What's free, and what IPS Pro adds for $0.99–$11.99 per item

The editor, the shape and color controls and community setups without a PRO badge cost nothing, and Google Play shows no Contains ads label on the listing. IPS Pro is sold through in-app purchases that Play lists at $0.99 to $11.99 per item in the U.S.; prices are regional and may change, so check the current figure in the app. The developer's changelog puts filters such as color swap, inversion and monochrome behind Pro, and How-To Geek's March 2025 guide adds some effects and textures. Setups marked PRO in the Explore tab need the license too. Reviewers mention both lifetime and subscription options, and the August 2026 update reworked license management and the purchase flow.

One style for every installed app, usually 40 to 200 icons

Instead of shipping a fixed set of drawings, the app applies your style to each installed app, so even obscure ones get a matching icon; the developer's FAQ for icon pack designers puts a typical export at 40 to 200 icons. Colors can come from the original app, a fixed HEX value, colors already in use or the wallpaper, and since version 2 you can import an installed icon pack and restyle it. The catch: a pack covers only the apps present when it was built. A 2020 developer reply on Google Play says only Smart Launcher themes new apps automatically, yet a July 2026 reviewer using it still had to reapply the theme daily.

14 tested launchers, with Pixel Launcher and One UI Home left out

The Play listing names 14 launchers the team has tested, including Nova, Niagara, Lawnchair and Microsoft Launcher, and 10 it does not support, among them Pixel Launcher, AOSP, Huawei's launcher and Samsung One UI Home. Owners of stock Pixel and Galaxy phones therefore need a second app before the editor is useful. The developer's help pages call Smart Launcher, made by the same company in Manfredonia, Italy, the recommended pairing because it reads these packs natively; every other launcher depends on an exported pack. In August 2026 a review with 63 helpful votes said an exported pack stopped working overnight, and in September another reviewer could not apply packs on a Lenovo tablet or a Xiaomi phone.

Data safety, permissions, and Good Lock or MyICON instead

Google Play's Data safety form says nothing is shared with third parties. Collected data covers app interactions, crash logs, device IDs for analytics and an optional email address, encrypted in transit, with deletion on request; the Smart Launcher privacy policy adds that Firebase Analytics reads the Android advertising ID. Play's permission list covers storage, network access, running at startup, keeping the device awake and installing shortcuts, and has no location, camera or contacts entry. Galaxy owners have another route: Samsung's Good Lock includes Theme Park, whose Create Icon Theme tool styles One UI Home icons and had passed 17 million downloads by March 2025. MyICON swaps single home-screen icons for your own photos, but its listing was last updated in December 2024.

  • Draws a matching icon for every installed app, even obscure ones
  • Four color sources, including the wallpaper and each app's own colors
  • Imports an installed icon pack and lets you restyle it

  • No location, camera or contacts permission on Google Play's list

Cons

  • Apps installed after an export keep stock icons until you rebuild
  • Pro doesn't cover the third-party icon packs some community setups require
  • Reviewers report Pro licenses lost after reinstalls or with two Google accounts

Verdict

We score Icon Pack Studio 7.2. The generator gives every installed app a matching icon, the free tier carries no ads label, and Play's form declares no third-party data sharing. Points come off for skipping Pixel Launcher and One UI Home, re-exports for new apps, and recent reports of packs that stopped working. Take it if you use Smart Launcher, Nova or Niagara and want one consistent style. Skip it if you will keep a stock Pixel or Galaxy home screen.

Frequently asked questions

1

Is Icon Pack Studio free?

Yes. The editor, the shape and color tools and community setups without a PRO badge are free, and Google Play shows no Contains ads label. IPS Pro unlocks filters, some effects, textures and PRO-marked setups, sold as in-app purchases that Play lists at $0.99 to $11.99 per item in the U.S.; prices are regional and may change.

2

Which launchers work with Icon Pack Studio?

Smart Launcher, from the same developer, works best because it reads the packs natively. The Google Play listing also names 14 tested launchers, including Nova, Niagara, Lawnchair and Microsoft Launcher. Pixel Launcher, AOSP, Huawei's launcher and Samsung One UI Home are listed as unsupported, so stock Pixel and Galaxy home screens cannot apply its packs.

3

Is Icon Pack Studio Pro worth it?

It is if you want filters, textures and PRO-marked community setups. It does not buy third-party icon packs: the developer's FAQ says a setup built on someone else's pack needs that pack installed first, the subject of the two most upvoted critical reviews from 2025. Refunds go through a request form, at the developer's discretion.

4

How do I undo Icon Pack Studio and get my old icons back?

Uninstall it, and if you installed a launcher only to use it, uninstall that launcher too, as the developer's FAQ advises. To delete your account first, tap the account icon, then the gear icon, then Delete account; the developer warns this is irreversible.

5

What's a good Icon Pack Studio alternative on a Samsung phone?

Samsung's Good Lock is the closest fit: its Theme Park module has a Create Icon Theme tool for One UI Home, which this editor does not support, and Samsung counted more than 17 million Theme Park downloads by March 2025. To turn your own photos into single home-screen icons, MyICON lists in-app purchases up to $39.99 in the U.S.
