About Wallpapers HD - Backgrounds 4K

Wallpapers HD - Backgrounds 4K is free to install, but the free tier runs on ads, and many images sit behind a Premium plan that the terms bill weekly, monthly or yearly after an auto-renewing trial. TarrySoft files anime, game and film fan art alongside abstract and animal images in 35-plus categories with keyword and tag search. The catch: the store listing names no size above 1440x2560, and there is no iPhone version.

Wallpapers HD - Backgrounds 4K Review: Big Catalog, Ad-First Free Tier

Ads first, Premium after a trial: where the free tier ends

The free tier is paid for with ads, and Play reviews from July and August 2026 describe a full-screen ad before the first wallpaper loads, sometimes with no way to close it. The developer's stock reply is that the trial and Premium carry no ads. Under the EULA, Premium is a weekly, monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time payment, and Google Play lists in-app items from $0.99 to $99.99. A trial turns into a paid plan unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, and subscription fees are non-refundable. The two most-upvoted critical reviews, from 2022 and 2023 with 996 and 784 helpful votes, complain about ads before any preview and a trial prompt that leads to a paid plan. Check the current price in the app; it varies by region.

Tag search and 35-plus categories: how the catalog is indexed

Search works by keyword or by tag. Swiping up the name strip under a preview shows the image's downloads, views, resolution and tag; tapping the tag, Goku or PUBG for example, opens every wallpaper filed under it. The home screen, titled Rare Wallpapers inside the app, has Category, Recent, Featured and Popular tabs, and category counts in the store screenshot run from 420 to 527 images. A crop step fits the picture before you set it on the home or lock screen. The listing names 720x1280, 1080x1920 and 1440x2560 and nothing larger, and an August 2026 review with 16 helpful votes called the images low quality. Live wallpapers sit in a separate TarrySoft app, Pixel 4D Live Wallpapers.

13 ad networks, an installed-apps clause and Israeli law

The privacy policy, last amended on December 19, 2023, names 13 advertising partners, among them AdMob, AppLovin, Facebook Audience Network and PubMatic, and says the app may collect a list of your installed apps. Google Play's Data safety form lists app performance data and device IDs as shared with third parties and says collected data can't be deleted. Permissions include reading and changing storage, viewing Wi-Fi connections and keeping the device awake. The policy reads like a template for the whole TarrySoft catalog, covering dialer, health and calendar features this app lacks. Google Play names the publisher as Alvva Inc. at a Dover, Delaware address, while the EULA falls under Israeli law, with disputes heard in Tel Aviv. TarrySoft's website lists 123 apps, from instrument tuners to phone cleaners.

Wallpapers HD vs Zedge, Walli and Google Wallpapers

Zedge adds ringtones and alarm sounds to its wallpapers, also shows ads, and lists in-app items up to $399.99 on Google Play, against $99.99 here. Walli, from Tap AI, carries ads too, caps in-app items at $29.99 and says it shares revenue with the artists who draw its images. This app's disclaimer instead says character names and logos belong to their owners and that removal requests will be honored; its store screenshots show fan art of Spider-Man, Deadpool, Ghost Rider and Goku. Google's own Wallpapers app has no ads or in-app purchases and can switch to a new image from a chosen category daily, but its Play listing was last updated in September 2020. Prices vary by region.

Verdict

We scored it 6.6: the catalog is large and well indexed, with tag pages, four browsing tabs and a crop step, but ads gate the free tier, Premium renews until you cancel, and the privacy policy names 13 ad networks. Take it if you have Google Play Pass, which removes ads and purchases, or want anime and game fan art fast. Skip it if you need true 4K or live wallpapers, use an iPhone, or want artist-credited images; Walli or Google Wallpapers fit better.

Frequently asked questions

1

Is Wallpapers HD - Backgrounds 4K free?

Partly. Installing and browsing cost nothing, and the free version is supported by ads. Many wallpapers need Premium, sold as a weekly, monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time payment. Google Play Pass members get the app with no ads or in-app purchases.

2

Does Wallpapers HD - Backgrounds 4K have real 4K wallpapers?

Not according to its store listing, which names three sizes: 720x1280, 1080x1920 and 1440x2560 (QHD), although the developer's website still promises 4K. Swiping up the name strip under a preview shows each image's resolution, so check it before downloading.

3

How much does Wallpapers HD Premium cost?

Google Play lists in-app items from $0.99 to $99.99, and the in-app paywall shows the exact weekly, monthly or yearly price. A free trial renews into a paid plan unless you cancel in Google Play at least 24 hours before it ends, and fees are non-refundable. Prices vary by region.

4

Does Wallpapers HD - Backgrounds 4K work offline?

No offline mode is documented. Browsing, search and downloads load images over the internet, and the app requests full network access. If you cancel Premium, paid features last until the billing period ends, then you return to the free, ad-supported tier with ads before previews.

5

Is Wallpapers HD - Backgrounds 4K OK for kids?

Google Play rates it Everyone, but the privacy policy says the service is not meant for U.S. children under 13, and the EULA asks users to be at least 16. Ads come from 13 named networks. Google's Wallpapers app is an alternative with no ads or in-app purchases. We describe what the app does; we don't certify it as safe.
