Easy Homescreen Review: Bigger Buttons, Paid For With Ads and Yahoo Search

What the free launcher gives you, and the $0.99–$29.99 extras

Once it is chosen as the Home app, the first screen holds a large clock with local weather, a web search bar and big tiles for Contacts, Messages and other shortcuts. Built-in extras include lock-screen widgets, a universal TV remote that the store artwork shows paired with a Roku Express 4K+, and Easy Keyboard, an optional replacement keyboard with larger keys. Google Play labels the app with both Contains ads and In-app purchases, listed at $0.99 to $29.99 per item in the U.S.; prices are regional and may change, and the listing does not say what they unlock. The developer's own About page still says there are no ads or in-app purchases.

Font Size: Large and the oversized tiles, up close

A few big tiles and a strip of recent apps sit in front, and the rest goes into an app list that the most-upvoted Play review, with 6,842 helpful votes in October 2024, describes as alphabetical. Font Size switches text between Regular and Large, and reviewers in September 2026 say icons cannot be made smaller and that the tiles cover their wallpaper. The cost falls on people who had a tuned setup: reviewers say their folders, extra pages and favourite shortcuts vanished from view as soon as the launcher became the default. One 4-star reviewer needed about an hour to get back to the old screen, and a 3-star reviewer described scrolling through four pages to reach an app.

Yahoo search, a Chrome coupon reader and 10 permission groups

The Play listing discloses two things the screenshots do not show. Tapping Install sets home-screen search to Yahoo, and the app asks for Android's Accessibility permission so it can spot shopping pages in Chrome and show coupon codes; the privacy policy lists ad networks and affiliate marketing programs among possible data recipients. Play's permission list covers 10 named groups, including calendar and contacts editing, precise location, placing calls and the camera. The Data safety form says installed apps, email address and phone number may be shared for advertising or marketing, and the policy names Microsoft Clarity session replay and TikTok's Pangle. Play lists Advanced Commerce Solutions, Inc. of Florida as the developer, while the terms belong to East End Technologies Ltd. and send disputes to individual arbitration in the Cayman Islands.

Easy Homescreen vs Samsung Easy mode, Microsoft Launcher and Niagara

On October 1, 2026 the app ranked #1 among free Personalization apps on Google Play in the U.S., yet 79 of the 150 newest English reviews, posted September 23–30, give one star and 52 give five. More than 20 ask how to undo the change or say they cannot, and several say it arrived without their asking. Six of the top 15 YouTube results for the app's name are removal tutorials. For bigger text alone, Galaxy phones have Easy mode under Settings > Display. Microsoft Launcher, with 50M+ downloads, carries neither the Contains ads nor the In-app purchases label on Play. Niagara Launcher has no ads label and sells upgrades from $0.99 to $74.99 per item in the U.S.

Verdict

We score Easy Homescreen 4.2: the big tiles, Large font and TV remote work as described, but the launcher is paid for with ads, a Yahoo search default, a Chrome coupon reader and broad permissions, and more than half of its 150 newest English reviews give one star. Take it for a large-print launcher on a phone without Samsung Easy mode, if ads are acceptable. Skip it if you like your current home screen.

Frequently asked questions

1

Is Easy Homescreen free, and what's the catch?

Yes to install, but Google Play labels it with ads and in-app purchases from $0.99 to $29.99 per item in the U.S. (regional, may change). Installing it also switches home-screen search to Yahoo, and an Accessibility feature reads Chrome shopping pages to show coupon codes. The developer's website still says there are no ads or purchases.

2

Can Easy Homescreen make icons and text bigger?

Yes. Font Size has two steps, Regular and Large, and the home screen uses oversized tiles for Contacts, Messages and other shortcuts. Reviewers in September 2026 say icons cannot be made smaller. Easy Keyboard, an optional add-on, adds larger keys for typing.

3

What do the in-app purchases cost?

Google Play lists in-app purchases from $0.99 to $29.99 per item in the U.S.; prices are regional and may change. The listing does not say what they unlock, and the developer's About page says there are none. Microsoft Launcher shows neither ads nor purchases on Play, and Samsung Easy mode is built into Galaxy phones.

4

How do I get rid of Easy Homescreen and get my old home screen back?

Open Settings, then Apps, then Default apps, then Home app, and pick your phone's original launcher; menu names vary by phone maker. Once another Home app is active, uninstall the launcher from Settings > Apps or its Google Play page. Several YouTube tutorials walk through it.

5

Is Easy Homescreen safe to use?

We don't claim it is safe or unsafe; here is what it asks for. Play lists 10 permission groups, including contacts, calendar, precise location and calls, and its Data safety form says installed apps, email and phone number may be shared for advertising. The privacy policy names Microsoft Clarity session replay and TikTok's Pangle.
