Best AI Transcription Apps, Ranked
Every transcription app advertises free minutes, and almost none of them means the number the way you would. One caps each recording at three minutes,
Notta's free plan lists 120 transcription minutes a month, but each recording is capped at 3 minutes, so it works as a trial rather than a daily recorder. The phone app transcribes live speech, imports audio and video files, and captures Zoom, Google Meet, Teams and Webex calls from a pasted link, adds AI summaries and transcribes in 58 languages. Pro lifts the cap to 5 hours per recording.

The pricing page lists the Free plan at 120 transcription minutes a month, 50 file uploads and 10 AI summaries, with no card needed. The catch is a separate limit of 3 minutes per conversation: live transcription stops there, and an imported file shows only its first 3 minutes of text. Pro raises the allowance to 1,800 minutes with up to 5 hours per recording, 100 uploads and 100 AI summaries, and Business is listed as unlimited. Custom vocabulary grows from 3 terms on Free to 200 on Pro and 1,000 on Business, and unused minutes do not carry over. In practice the free tier covers one short voice memo or a dictated paragraph, not a lecture or a call.
Three named tools do most of the work beyond plain dictation. Meeting capture takes a pasted Zoom, Google Meet, Teams or Webex link, and the screen offers monolingual or bilingual mode plus a language picker; the site describes its online recorder as a bot that joins the call, while the bot-free recorder belongs to the desktop app. AI Notes builds a summary from templates such as General, Team Meeting, Consulting Meeting and Sales Pitch, and the latest release can generate them automatically for future transcripts. Notta Brain, formerly AI Chat, answers questions across recordings at 100 AI Credits per question, and the comparison table lists 1,000 credits a month on every plan.
Price depends on where you buy. The website lists Pro at $97.99 billed annually, about $8.17 a month. The App Store shows a $14.99 monthly Pro and standard annual plans from $98.99 to $114.99, and Google Play lists in-app items from $0.99 to $344.99. Prices are regional and change, so check the checkout screen. After a cancellation, saved transcripts stay, but a Free account opens only the first 3 minutes of each, so export first. Several Play reviewers say they were charged for a full year when they expected a monthly plan. The two stores' privacy declarations also differ: the App Store label lists purchase history, device ID and email as tracking data, while Google Play's Data safety section says no data is collected.

The score reflects a capable multi-language transcriber held back by a free tier that stops at 3 minutes and by billing that varies by store. Take it if you transcribe meetings or interviews regularly, want AI Notes and Zoom, Meet or Teams capture in one phone app, and are ready to pay for Pro. Skip it if you need long free recordings, fully local transcription (listed only for the desktop beta), or one price across every store.

The Free plan lists 120 transcription minutes a month, 50 file uploads and 10 AI summaries, but each conversation is capped at 3 minutes. Live transcription stops at that point, and an imported file shows only its first 3 minutes of text. Unused minutes do not carry over to the next month.
Notta's own figure is 98.86% accuracy, and it says a one-hour file takes about five minutes to transcribe. That is a vendor claim, not an independent test. Some Play reviewers report missed or misheard words on informal speech, while others say it handled their first file or German audio well.
The website lists Pro at $97.99 billed annually, about $8.17 a month, for 1,800 minutes and up to 5 hours per recording. The App Store shows a $14.99 monthly Pro and standard annual plans from $98.99 to $114.99. Prices are regional. It pays off only if you transcribe regularly beyond 3-minute clips.
Saved transcripts are kept, but a Free account can open only the first 3 minutes of each, so export them first as TXT, DOCX, Excel, PDF or SRT. Paid features run until the period ends. Cancel under Billing on the website, or in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions if you bought in the app.
Otter's free Basic plan lists 300 monthly transcription minutes with up to 30 minutes per conversation, a far longer cap than 3 minutes. Rev sells human-checked transcripts at $1.99 a minute, with 99%+ accuracy within 12 hours.
