WhatsApp: Any Emoji on Apple Watch, Search Inside a Chat
Two WhatsApp changes landed this week. On September 21 reactions on Apple Watch stopped being limited to six emoji: the watch app now carries the full
Pi is free: neither store lists ads, in-app purchases or a paid tier. Inflection AI built it as a talk-first assistant that works by text or live voice, keeps a memory list you can edit, and adds two shared activities with other people, Between Us and Stars Aligned. It cannot read or make images, and the developer limits it to adults. Voice is the weak spot, because short pauses get treated as the end of your turn.
Specs come from the official store listings and were last checked on 2026-10-06. Developers change pricing and requirements — check the store page before installing.
Neither store lists a price, an in-app purchase or a subscription for this app, and Google Play shows no Contains ads badge, so the free tier is the whole product on the date we checked. The limits sit elsewhere. The developer's terms and help center allow adults only, the App Store carries an 18+ rating while Google Play shows Teen, and the iPhone listing names English as its only language, although typing in another language makes the assistant switch to it with uneven fluency. Image upload, generation and editing are not supported, and the help center says there is no built-in high-contrast mode or larger text, with VoiceOver and TalkBack working only partly. Because the two stores disagree on the age rating, check the current listing and terms yourself.
Voice is what most people open this app for, and the July 28, 2026 iPhone update gave it two modes. Hands-free suits a quiet room. Tap to talk lets you tap once, speak without interruption and tap again when you are done, and tapping while Pi is speaking lets you jump in at once. A Zen display swaps the live transcript for a soundwave. The modes exist because pauses were the problem: Google Play reviewers describe being cut off after silences as short as half a second, and a Spanish-language review calls the pause detection aggressive. The developer's replies send those users to the three-dot menu inside a voice chat. Non-English voice fares worse, with Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic speakers reporting mishearing and accent trouble.
Memory is explicit. You say Remember and a lasting fact, such as your name, home city, allergies, job or preferred answer length, and Pi stores it, though you may need to repeat it; one-off plans are skipped. Entries live in Settings, Account, Manage Memories, where they can be added, edited or deleted, and very long chats may be summarised, so recall is not unlimited. On data, Google Play's safety card says nothing is shared with third parties and lists voice recordings, email, user ID, phone number and crash logs as collected. The privacy policy says model training is on unless you opt out in Account settings, and that voice-based emotion inference can be switched off there too. After you delete an account, inputs are generally kept at most 15 days, while outputs are retained indefinitely for limited purposes.
We don't host any files. These buttons open the official Google Play and App Store listings.
The score rests on a free, ad-free assistant that ships frequent updates and gives you real control over memory, deletion and export. Voice reliability and default model training hold it back. Take it if you are an adult who wants to talk things through, practise a language or plan a week without paying. Skip it if you need image tools, accessibility features, long uninterrupted voice monologues, or an app for anyone under 18.

Yes. Neither the App Store nor Google Play lists a price, subscription or in-app purchase for it, and Google Play shows no Contains ads badge, so there was nothing to buy on the date we checked. Accounts must be held by adults aged 18 or older under the developer's terms. Terms and limits can change, so check the current store listing before relying on this.
Voice mode can treat a short silence as the end of your turn, which is the most common complaint in 2026 Google Play reviews. Switch to Tap to talk: open a voice chat, tap the three dots, choose Tap to Talk, tap once to speak and tap again when finished. Hands-free suits quick exchanges in a quiet room, and non-English speech is less reliable.
No paid plan appears on either store listing. The cost is data: the privacy policy says chats may train the developer's models unless you opt out in Account settings, and Google Play lists voice recordings, email, user ID, phone number and crash logs as collected. Play's safety card says nothing is shared with third parties, and the policy says it does not sell or share personal information as US state privacy laws define it.
Open Settings, then Account, and choose Delete account; deletion removes your whole history, not selected parts, and typing !delete in a chat also works per the privacy policy. Single messages can be deleted separately. To keep a copy first, use Download chat history, which produces one pi-user-history.json file; individual chats cannot be exported. Inputs may be kept up to 15 days after deletion.
We do not rate safety; we report what the developer states. It is adults-only, will not engage with romantic or sexual content, and answers talk of self-harm with local crisis resources and sometimes a paused chat. It is not a substitute for medical, legal or financial advice. For images or paid tiers look at ChatGPT, for files and documents Claude, and for a persistent companion character Replika.
