About Charades Guess Game

Guessly costs nothing to install, but on Android only one deck is free: Google Play names the Mix deck, and the 48 premium decks sit behind an auto-renewing subscription. The game itself is classic forehead charades from Warsaw-based SMAK APPS, scored by tilting the phone, with free custom decks and an AI deck builder on iPhone. The weak spot is billing: most recent one- and two-star Google Play reviews are about trial charges.

Guessly Review: Solid Forehead Charades, One Free Deck, Costly Subscription

The Free Mix Deck vs. 48 Premium Decks

The free tier differs by store: the Google Play listing names a single free deck, Mix, while the App Store version adds unlimited custom decks you type yourself, plus one deck built by its AI Deck Generation tool from a theme you describe. More AI decks and the whole premium catalog, from Movies and Music to Kids Zone and Careers, require the subscription, although the Countries deck is open to all during a Countries Mania event that Google Play shows ending October 14. Even the library size is unclear: Google Play claims 6,500+ challenges, the App Store 3,500+ words across the same 48 premium decks.

Tilt Down for Correct, Up for Pass: How the Controls Hold Up

A round works like Warner Bros.' Heads Up!: the guesser presses the phone to their forehead, the group acts, describes, sings or dances the word without saying it, and a countdown runs at the top of the card. Tilting down marks Correct, shown in green; tilting up marks Pass, shown in pink. That sensor draws the most non-billing complaints: reviewers between May and September 2026, in Google Play's US, Indonesian and Polish storefronts, describe cards switching to Pass on their own or downward tilts not counting. The changelog does not say whether this was fixed: 14 of 15 iOS releases in 2026 note only minor improvements.

Subscription Prices From $4.99 to $49.99 vs. Heads Up!'s $1.99

Neither store listing mentions a one-time unlock; both describe an auto-renewing subscription. The US App Store lists ten Guessly Premium options from $4.99 to $39.99, and Google Play shows $7.99 to $49.99 per item. Prices are regional and may change. Rivals price differently: Heads Up! costs $1.99 upfront on the US App Store, with add-on decks such as Super Heroes at $1.99 each, and Dmytro Cheverda's Charades - Family & Party Game lists an All Decks purchase at $7.99 beside weekly and annual plans. Of the 150 newest US English reviews on Google Play, posted September 16 to October 2, 2026, 45 give one or two stars, and 31 of those are about paying or being charged.

Apple Rates It 18+, Google Play Rates It Teen

Apple rates the game 18+, citing infrequent mature or suggestive themes, horror or fear themes and sexual content or nudity; Google Play's Teen rating cites suggestive themes and drug references. On the deck screen an Adults Only tile sits among family decks such as Kids Zone, so pick the deck before handing the phone to children. The publisher, SMAK APPS Sp. z o.o. of Warsaw, also makes Funzy and Fakeit; in May 2026 the Android listing was still titled ForeHeads: Charades Guess Game. Apple's privacy label says identifiers may be used to track you across other companies' apps, and Google Play's form says purchase history is shared with third parties.

Pros

  • Tilt controls: down scores Correct, up skips with Pass
  • 48 premium decks, from Movies and Music to Kids Zone and Careers
  • iPhone version keeps hand-typed custom decks free with no limit
  • AI Deck Generation builds a themed deck from a short description
  • No advertising: Google Play shows no Contains ads badge
  • Google Play tags it Offline, and one phone runs a whole round

Cons

  • Only the Mix deck is free on Android; the rest need a subscription
  • A payment method is required even to start the free trial
  • 2026 reviews report the tilt sensor scoring passes nobody made
  • Apple rates it 18+, with an Adults Only deck beside Kids Zone

Verdict

We score Guessly 6.2. The charades loop works, the deck list is wide and there are no ads, but Android players get one free deck and the subscription costs far more than Heads Up!'s $1.99 upfront price on iOS. Take it if you host game nights often and will use custom or AI decks on iPhone. Skip it if you play a few times a year, want a one-time purchase, or are handing the phone to children who could start a trial.

Gameplay7.5Standard forehead charades with 48 premium decks and iPhone AI decks; little beyond the Heads Up! formula.
Controls6.5Tilt down for Correct and up for Pass, but several 2026 reviews describe misread tilts and phantom passes.
Replay value7.03,500 to 6,500 words depending on the listing, plus free custom decks on iOS; reviewers flag repeats.
Graphics & sound7.0Large white words on a blue card and colourful flat deck tiles: clear, but visually plain.
Monetisation3.5One free deck on Android, a card needed for the trial, items up to $49.99; ad-free helps.

Frequently asked questions

1

Does Guessly work offline?

Mostly, yes. Google Play tags Guessly as an Offline game, and a round needs only the one phone held to the guesser's forehead. Starting the trial or subscribing goes through Google Play or the App Store, so set that up before a trip or a party with weak signal.

2

Is Guessly free, or do you have to pay for decks?

Mostly you pay. On Google Play only the Mix deck is free; on iPhone you also get unlimited custom decks and one AI-generated deck. The 48 premium decks need a subscription: $4.99 to $39.99 on the US App Store, $7.99 to $49.99 per item on Google Play, regional and subject to change. Cancel in the store's subscription settings; deleting the app does not stop billing.

3

What phone do you need to play Guessly?

An Android phone on Android 7.0 or later, or an iPhone or iPad on iOS 15.0 or later. Apple also lists Macs with an M1 chip or newer and Apple Vision Pro. The iPhone download is about 181 MB, and the current Android package is about 73 MB.

4

Can you play Guessly with friends online?

No, it is designed for one room: the guesser holds the phone and everyone else gives clues face to face, with no direct hints allowed. Neither store listing describes online or video-call play. If you need that, Heads Up! lists SharePlay support for FaceTime on iPhone, which Guessly's App Store page does not.

5

How many words and decks does Guessly have?

Up to 48 premium decks, but the word count depends on which listing you read: the App Store says 3,500+ words, Google Play says 6,500+ challenges. Free players on Android get the Mix deck only, and reviewers complain about repeated words; iPhone users can stretch the free tier with their own custom decks.
