Best Travel Apps, Ranked by Our Scores
Booking.com and Google Maps tie at the top of this list at 7.6, and between them they cover most of a trip: where to sleep and how to get around, both
The Expedia app books flights, stays, cars, activities and packages into one itinerary. Since July 28, 2026, One Key returns 1% in OneKeyCash at Blue, 2% at Silver and Gold and 3% at Platinum on non-flight bookings; flights earn nothing. Member Prices and Flight Deals are the reasons to install it. The catch is the middleman role: each airline or hotel's rules decide refunds, and fees can stack.
Specs come from the official store listings and were last checked on 2026-10-01. Developers change pricing and requirements — check the store page before installing.
Since July 28, 2026, Blue members earn 1% in OneKeyCash on hotels, vacation rentals, cars, activities, cruises and the non-flight part of packages; Silver and Gold earn 2%, Platinum 3%, and flights earn nothing. Tiers count Trip Elements per calendar year: 5 for Silver, 15 for Gold, 30 for Platinum, with each hotel night, rental-car day or flight ticket worth $25 or more counting once. A balance expires after 18 months without a booking or redemption, cannot pay for Pay Later stays, and works on a flight only if it covers the whole fare. The new terms drop the Hotel Price Guarantee. Booking.com's higher Genius levels instead unlock after 5 or 15 bookings in two years and are kept for life.
Signing in unlocks Member Prices, at least 10% off select stays, rising to 15% at Silver and 20% at Gold and Platinum. Bundle & Save measures savings against the same parts booked separately and labels a package an Unreal Deal when the saving covers a whole flight, hotel night or car rental. Flight Deals shows only fares at least 20% below the price its model predicts for the route and skips itineraries with more than one stop. Paid Price Drop Protection rechecks your exact fare every 24 hours and credits any drop to your card after the trip; Gold and Platinum members get a version paid in OneKeyCash. Hopper offers a Price Freeze that holds a price before you buy.
The terms of service, revised August 10, 2026, make each supplier's rules part of the booking. Airlines and hotels may charge cancellation or change fees, the agency may add an administration fee, and its own fees are non-refundable unless checkout says otherwise. Refunds return through whichever party took the payment, and the terms say the company has no visibility into a supplier's refund process. Pay Later stays are billed by the hotel. Frontier, Ryanair and AirAsia handle their own cancellations. Most hotels allow free cancellation; some need 24 hours' notice. Of the 150 most relevant English Google Play reviews, 106 give one or two stars, many describing being sent back and forth between support and the supplier.
Romie, the AI trip assistant shown in 2024, was tested as an alpha with US users through EG Labs, including in iMessage group chats; the May 2026 Explore announcement does not mention it and promises an AI Activity Planner later in 2026. Travelers mostly meet the support virtual agent, which the company said in May 2025 handles over 143 million conversations a year. The privacy statement, updated May 6, 2026, lists AI pricing that includes direct price setting and margin adjustments. Apple's label names eight data types that may be used to track you across other companies' apps, including purchases, financial info and location. Google Play's Data safety form lists emails, search history and device IDs as shared with third parties for advertising. Both stores flag ads.

We score it 6.7. The deal tools are strong: Flight Deals filters for fares 20% under prediction, and Member Prices cost nothing. One Key got thinner on July 28, 2026, and refunds still follow supplier rules. Take it if you book packages or several hotel nights a year and can reach Silver. Skip it if you mostly buy flights, need a human on the phone quickly, or object to cross-app tracking.

Yes. One Key is free for anyone 18 or older with an account. Blue, the entry tier, gets Member Prices of at least 10% off select stays, 1% back in OneKeyCash on eligible non-flight bookings and free flight price tracking. You must be signed in when you book; guest bookings earn nothing.
Flight Deals compares fares found in the last 24 hours with the price a machine learning model predicts for the route and shows only those at least 20% lower, skipping itineraries with more than one stop. Pick a home airport under Search, then Find Deals, and set alerts by destination, dates and trip length.
Sometimes. Flight prices can include the agency's booking, ticketing, and seat or bag service fees, and Pay Now stays can carry service fees. Cancelling adds the supplier's penalty plus a possible administration fee shown before you confirm. The agency's fees are non-refundable unless checkout says otherwise; amounts vary by booking and region.
Cancel under Trips, which shows the supplier's fees and a refund or credit summary first. Money returns to the original payment method from whichever party charged it; non-refundable fares may leave only an airline credit. Frontier, Ryanair and AirAsia flights are cancelled with the airline, and travel insurance separately.
One Key suits travelers who want spendable credit; Genius suits occasional hotel bookers who want lasting discounts. One Key pays 1% to 3% in OneKeyCash for Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo, but tiers reset each January. Genius pays no currency, yet its 10% to 20% discounts unlock after 5 or 15 bookings in two years and last for life.
