Auto Check-In at 24 Hours and an Offline Boarding Pass

Delta opens check-in 24 hours before departure, and the app handles it automatically if you are logged in to SkyMiles; guests can still check in by adding a confirmation number. The boarding pass stays pinned to the bottom of the screen and opens offline. On iPhone, Live Activities put boarding zone, seat and carousel details on the lock screen starting three hours before departure; Android Live Updates work only on select devices. When a delay or cancellation hits, self-service standby lets you list for an earlier flight, but only on nonstop domestic routes. Checked a bag in the app? App Bag Drop lanes, in every Delta hub since mid-January 2026, skip the main lobby line.

Delta Concierge and the 3-Hour Refund Rule

Delta Concierge, the AI assistant behind the icon in the home screen's upper-right corner, reached every SkyMiles member in August 2026 and still carries a beta label. It rebooks during disruptions, summarizes checked-bag status, shows mileage and MQD balances, and now cancels trips, filing a refund request or issuing an eCredit in real time, though only for full itineraries. Delta's cancellation page sets the rules: a significant schedule change means 3 or more hours on a domestic itinerary, 6 or more internationally. You can then cancel for a refund of the unflown portion plus prepaid seats and bag fees, or take a 5-year eCredit. If Delta cannot rebook you and you do nothing for 24 hours, the refund goes to your original payment method automatically.

$45 Bags, $99 Basic Changes and the Free Wi-Fi Fine Print

On domestic Delta flights the first checked bag costs $45 and the second $55 each way for Main and Comfort passengers without status or a Delta Amex card, and SkyMiles members leaving most US airports can pay that fee in miles during check-in. Main Basic tickets bought since November 6, 2025 change for $99 within North America and the Caribbean or $199 on long-haul routes; Classic fares from the US change free. These are US prices and can change. Delta Sync Wi-Fi, presented by T-Mobile, is free for SkyMiles members on 1,200+ aircraft, but Delta's SkyMiles page still says most domestic flights, with trans-Pacific coverage arriving during 2026.

Face Matching, Location and Ad Sharing: What the Labels Say

The developer's Google Play data-safety form says email, user IDs and home address may be shared with third parties for advertising or marketing, and payment info for fraud prevention and analytics. Apple's privacy label adds that usage data is used to track you across other companies' apps, and that precise location and your name are linked to you for third-party advertising. Facial comparison is opt-in: under Delta's May 2026 privacy policy, the photo taken at check-in, bag drop or the gate is encrypted and sent to US Customs and Border Protection for matching. Data is encrypted in transit, and you can request deletion through Delta's Privacy Request Form.
