TikTok vs Instagram Reels: Which App to Keep on Your Phone
TikTok if the feed is the point; Instagram if the people are. On our scores it is 7.5 to 7.1, and the gap is weight and messaging: Instagram's iPhone

9 Kings arrives on iOS and Android on October 12, 2026 — Playdigious' port of Sad Socket's roguelike kingdom builder from PC, where you play one of nine kings, lay cards as buildings, troops and spells on a growing hex citadel, loot rival kings' decks and try to break the game before decades of war break you. It is a free trial with a $9.99 unlock, no ads, and asynchronous multiplayer against eight rivals. The App Store pre-order lists iOS 15 with an A12 chip; Google Play takes pre-registrations.
The product is not in the mobile stores yet, so there is no store listing to take specifications from. Checked 2026-09-21.
The date is firm: Playdigious, the publisher behind the mobile ports of Dead Cells and Northgard, announced 9 Kings for iOS and Android on October 12, 2026, with pre-orders on the App Store and pre-registration on Google Play open in September. The model is the publisher's usual for the last two years — a free trial, then a $9.99 unlock for everything. The PC original, from Sad Socket, spent 2025 in early access on Steam and reached version 1.0 in autumn 2026 with daily quests and custom decks, which the mobile version follows. The App Store listing shows 660 MB, iOS 15 or later with an A12 Bionic chip or newer — iPhone XS onward — 26 languages and a 13+ rating; the Play page shows a Teen rating and no Android requirements yet. Until the game installs, this page has no score, no pros and cons and no specifications beyond the listing — the buttons and the full review arrive on release day.
The design is a roguelike autobattler crossed with a city builder. Each run you pick a king with a playstyle — gold for mercenaries, the forces of nature, warped time, dark magic, hordes of imps — and grow a citadel by placing cards on hex tiles: buildings that expand territory, towers, troops, and spells that stack effects. Every few years an enemy king attacks and the battle plays itself across your layout; win and you loot cards from that king's deck to combine with yours, which is where the game-breaking builds come from. Perks stack on top, and a shop rerolls decks and cards for gold. Runs endure decades of war and unpredictable events; Quest Mode adds unique challenges; asynchronous multiplayer ranks you against eight rivals with cosmetic customisation. Playdigious says the interface has been carefully redesigned for touch. None of it can be judged on a phone until October.
The pre-order page states the whole economy: the only in-app purchase is Unlock full game at $9.99, there is no advertising badge, and Apple lists no tracking; Google Play's provisional range of $0.49 to $7.99 reflects regional pricing of the same unlock. The PC version sells for more, so the phone will be the cheaper way to own it, as with Playdigious' other ports. The hardware line is the one to check: iOS 15 or later and an A12 Bionic or newer — iPhone XS, XR and later, and iPads from the same generation — with 660 MB to download; Android requirements will appear on the Play page closer to release. Twenty-six languages are listed. Prices on a pre-order listing are provisional and regional. When the game is installable, this page gets the download buttons, a score and a full review of how the citadel plays on a touchscreen.
Release information as announced by Playdigious: October 12, 2026 (confirmed); App Store pre-order, Google Play pre-registration. Checked 2026-09-21.
Almost certainly for the runs — Playdigious' ports are single-player games that work offline, and the core game is you against AI kings. The asynchronous multiplayer against eight rivals will need a connection. This page will confirm from the release build after October 12, 2026.
The download is free and plays as a trial; the full game — all nine kings, Quest Mode, multiplayer and future content — is a one-time $9.99 unlock on the App Store, priced regionally on Google Play. There are no ads and no other purchases listed.
Not until October 12, 2026, and after that only through Google Play: it is a paid unlock inside a free app, so APK files offered before release are fakes and afterwards are piracy. The official routes are Google Play pre-registration, the App Store pre-order and Playdigious' site.
Asynchronously: the listing promises multiplayer in which you battle eight rivals and climb ranks, with cosmetic customisation to show off — the format Playdigious' other ports use, where your run is compared against others' rather than played live. Whether friends can be chosen as rivals is not yet stated.
October 12, 2026, on iOS and Android together, per Playdigious' announcement and the App Store pre-order page. Pre-ordering installs it automatically on the day. It needs iOS 15 and an A12 chip or newer on iPhone; Android requirements will appear on the Play listing closer to launch.
