Best Free Action Games for Android, Ranked by Our Scores
Clash of Clans is the best free action game on Android by our scores — 8.2, fourteen years after launch, for attacks that are real decisions and clan

Duriano is a top-down arena roguelite from Thailand's Adisoft — a hero durian of the Norse picks a weapon, a god's trail and a run's worth of stat trade-offs, then fights toward the fire giant — with a free demo and a $6.99 unlock on iOS since August 14, 2026 and Android since earlier in the year. No ads, Journey and Ranked modes, 4.0 from 878 Play reviews. One reviewer calls it a much more advanced Brotato; another found the meta and a crab boss that one-shots.
Specs come from the official store listings and were last checked on 2026-09-21. Developers change pricing and requirements — check the store page before installing.
The premise is a joke the game takes seriously: the heroes are durians in Norse mythology, each with a weapon style, and a run is a chain of arenas where every level-up offers stat trade-offs — a July 3, 2026 Play reviewer with three votes enjoys balancing or deliberately unbalancing each stat and, after thinking about it, calls the whole thing a much more advanced Brotato. God's trails are the build spine, pacts with gods unlocking skills and an ultimate; items, enchantments and accessories drop after every match, per a June 25 review with nine votes that calls the game addictive and a bit grindy and names the two modes, Journey and Ranked. The August 20 update, version 1.3.2, added two characters, the Tinkerer and the Serpentine Enchantress, daily-reward notifications and resized elite enemies. Adisoft answers every review by name. Rated Everyone 10+ on Play and 13+ by Apple, in English only on the App Store.
The sharpest review is an August 27 three-star from a player who tried every character: the meta is shield plus movement speed; there is a chance to roll a crab boss whose shockwave is an instant kill if you cannot outrun it; touching some enemies deals damage; the strongest skills require standing still, which the crab argues against; text is missing from multiple items; and you can buy skills for gods you have no pact with, unclear whether they apply, and lock yourself out of your ultimate. Adisoft's reply four days later lists each point as a fix target — the update notes already claim text-display and resolution-reset fixes. The App Store build arrived August 14 and has 16 ratings at 4.4; Google Play, where the game has 100,000-plus installs, holds 4.0 from 878. No review on either store mentions controllers, and neither listing does.
The model is a demo and a price with a small side door. The download is free and, the listing stresses, ad-free; the App Store lists Full Game Unlock at $6.99, with Google Play pricing items from $0.99 to $9.99. Beside the unlock sit Fertilizer Packs — Small at $0.99, Medium at $4.99, Big at $9.99 — a currency for the permanent upgrades between runs, which is the one purchase in a paid roguelite that a purist would object to. Neither store shows an advertising badge or a loot-box flag. Google's data-safety card lists Personal info, Financial info and three other types collected; Apple lists Usage Data linked to you. The install is 788 MB on iPhone, iOS 15 or newer with Apple Silicon Macs supported, Android 7.1 or newer. Prices are regional.

A 7.0: a Brotato-style build game with more decisions per level and a clear price, from a small studio still balancing it in public. Take it if you want arena roguelite runs with real stat trade-offs and are happy to pay $6.99 after a demo. Skip it if a shield-and-speed meta and a one-shot crab boss sound like the kind of thing you would rather see patched first, or if any real-money currency in a paid game is a line.
The store pages do not say. Journey runs are single-player and there are no ads, but Ranked mode, daily rewards and the Fertilizer Pack shop point to a connection, and Google's data-safety card lists Financial info collected. Test airplane mode after the first launch before counting on it.
The demo is, with no ads. The full game is one purchase, Full Game Unlock at $6.99 on the App Store, with Google Play items from $0.99 to $9.99 by region. Fertilizer Packs at $0.99, $4.99 and $9.99 buy the between-run upgrade currency. Prices vary by region.
iOS 15 or newer with 788 MB free, or Android 7.1 or newer; Apple Silicon Macs run it too. Reviews do not report performance trouble — the August 2026 update's resolution-reset fix is the only technical note — and neither store mentions controller support.
No. Runs are single-player, and the only competitive layer is Ranked mode, where your runs are scored against other players' rather than fought with them. There is no co-op, no guild and no chat on either store.
A run is a sequence of arenas and bosses toward the fire giant — a sitting rather than a bus stop, and a July 2026 reviewer had just beaten the first boss after a good stretch. The long clock is the permanent upgrades, the characters and gods' pacts to unlock, and Ranked; fans call it grindy.
