About Duet Night Abyss

Duet Night Abyss is Pan Studio's anime action RPG with Warframe's economy — every character and weapon is farmed and forged rather than pulled, melee and ranged weapons swap mid-combo — free on iOS and Android since October 25, 2025, cross-platform with PC. The spending model wins praise; the phone port does not: 3.7 on the App Store and 2.8 on Google Play, for controls reviewers call unplayable, a camera that zooms into your own character, throttled graphics, and Android builds that report not responding at launch.

Duet Night Abyss Review: Warframe's Generosity in an Anime RPG Your Phone Fights

Farm Everything, Pull Nothing: The Warframe Model in Anime Clothes

The design decision that defines it is stated in the listing's first bracket: all characters and weapons are free to unlock. You farm fragments and forging materials at your own pace, build the lineup you want, and the gacha currency buys cosmetics, dyes and convenience rather than the roster. Combat is 3D hack-and-slash with weapon swapping — whipblades, dual blades, crossbows, dual guns, sniper rifles — so a character is not locked to one class, and the story follows two protagonists through a world of magic and machinery where demons have their own perspectives. Version 1.6 arrived in September 2026 with Mount Arcano and the Pyro character Falsi. The December 22, 2025 App Store four-star's advice is that any fan of anime and Warframe should try it; an October 30 four-star at account level 35 scores combat 7, story 8 and monetisation 9, calling it a breath of fresh air in a genre of 50/50s and rotation combat.

The Port: Unplayable Touch Controls, a Camera in Your Face, ANR at Launch

The Play average of 2.8 and the App Store's 3.7 are about the phone version specifically. A November 25, 2025 one-star calls the core game great and the mobile experience an unplayable burning dumpster fire — graphics throttled low even on the highest settings, touch controls unplayable; an October 28 one-star says playing on mobile is simply impossible without a controller. The camera is a specific fault: a January 23, 2026 three-star finds it zooming in on the character whenever you fight or jump, hiding the enemies. Controller play has its own bug — a November 12 five-star reports that opening the tactical backpack via a mapped button locks every input but movement until the player escapes it. On Android, a June 13, 2026 two-star with nine votes reports Android's not-responding dialog at launch 80 percent of the time; a September 19 iOS one-star crashes in the opening escape. An October 28 four-star objects to sexualised outfits on child characters.

Plumules to $99.99, a $4.99 Monthly Pass, Editions at $9.99 and $19.99, No Ads

There are no ads. The App Store sells Phoxene Plumule from 60 for $0.99 to 6,480 for $99.99, Lunotress's Monthly Pass at $4.99, a Hardcover Edition at $9.99 and a Collector's Edition at $19.99; Google Play's range is $0.29 to $99.99, and Apple flags Loot Boxes for what remains of the gacha. The reviews do not dispute the model. Data collection is heavy for the genre: Google lists location, personal info and three other types collected; Apple lists location, user content and identifiers linked to you. The iOS build is 3.3 GB on iOS 13 or later, with iPad and Apple Vision listed; Android needs 8.0; five languages; rated Teen and 13+. Play shows 1 million-plus installs and 24,200 reviews at 2.8; the App Store 1,782 ratings at 3.7. Prices are regional.

Verdict

A 6.5 for a game whose PC version would score higher: a fair, farm-everything anime RPG with weapon-swapping combat and a story its fans rate, delivered to phones with controls, a camera and a launch stability its own players describe as unplayable. Take it if you have a controller, a recent phone and the PC version to fall back on. Skip it if you play on touch alone — and if you want the game, play it on PC and use the phone for the shop.

Gameplay7Weapon-swapping action with a farm-everything economy — Warframe's loop with anime pacing.
Controls4Unplayable on touch by three reviews' account, and a backpack bug that locks a controller.
Replay value7Grind-driven by design, with new regions and characters each version; the ANR bug ends sessions before they start.
Graphics & sound6Striking character art and a Mount Arcano worth the trip, throttled hard on a phone.
Monetisation8Cosmetics, passes and editions only; the roster is free — the rare gacha that earns its 9 from players.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play Duet Night Abyss offline?

No. It is an online action RPG with cross-platform saves, a live shop and version updates that add regions; every session runs on Pan Studio's servers. The Android not-responding dialogs and iOS crashes reviewers report happen at launch and in the opening, before any connection question arises.

2

Is Duet Night Abyss pay to win?

No — its players single this out. Every character and weapon is farmable, and an October 2025 reviewer scores the monetisation 9 out of 10 against gachas built on 50/50 pulls. The shop sells Phoxene Plumule from $0.99 to $99.99 for cosmetics and convenience, a $4.99 monthly pass, and $9.99 and $19.99 editions, with loot boxes flagged. Prices vary by region.

3

What phone do you need for Duet Night Abyss?

iOS 13 or newer with 3.3 GB free, or Android 8.0 or newer — and, by the reviews, a controller and a lot of patience. Graphics are throttled on phones even at maximum, touch controls are called unplayable, and Android builds show not-responding dialogs at launch for two 2026 reviewers. The PC version is where players say it runs properly.

4

Can you play Duet Night Abyss with friends?

The listing focuses on a single-player story from two perspectives and does not describe co-op or multiplayer modes; cross-platform play means your own account moves between phone and PC rather than friends joining you. Treat it as solo until Pan Studio says otherwise.

5

How long does Duet Night Abyss take?

The story is dozens of hours across two protagonists and grows each version — Mount Arcano opened in September 2026 — and the farming for characters and weapons is the long game, endless by a May 2026 reviewer's happy description. On a phone the practical limit is the launch bug: sessions that never start do not count.
