Best Drawing and Design Apps on Mobile, Ranked
Sketchbook is the best drawing app on a phone: its brushes, perspective guides and symmetry are free, it shows no ads, and the only upgrade is a $2.99
Adobe Express is free for template designs, photo edits and videos up to 30 minutes, while Premium costs $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year on the US App Store. Formerly Adobe Spark, it puts Firefly generative AI inside the editor, and Premium adds Photoshop Express on mobile. The limits: 4K export, Brand Kits and video background removal are paid, and projects live in Adobe's cloud, so editing needs a connection.
Specs come from the official store listings and were last checked on 2026-10-01. Developers change pricing and requirements — check the store page before installing.
The Free plan needs no card and includes 4,000+ Adobe Fonts, image background removal, video captions, 5 GB of storage and videos up to 30 minutes long. Premium, at $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year in the US App Store, stretches video to two hours and fonts to 30,000+, and it is the only way to export in 4K, remove a video background, keep a Brand Kit or resize one design into several formats at once. PDF tools stop at 10 Quick Actions a month on Free, and version history covers 10 days instead of 30. Premium storage is 10 GB; the 100 GB tier belongs to Firefly Pro. Generative tools run on Adobe Firefly, whose models were trained on licensed content such as Adobe Stock plus public-domain work, according to Adobe. Free accounts get a daily allowance whose size Adobe does not publish, plus two lifetime text-to-video generations; Premium adds 250 credits a month and partner models from Google and OpenAI. Credits do not roll over. Adobe's Firefly rate card prices video by the second, from 20 credits at 540p to 100 at 1080p, so a month of Premium credits covers roughly 2.5 to 12.5 seconds of generated footage. Generate Text Effects, Generate Presentation and Clip Maker spend no credits. Outputs may be used commercially unless Adobe marks the feature as beta.
In June 2024 a forced re-acceptance of Adobe's Terms of Use drew complaints about what its license language allowed. Adobe promised revised terms by June 18, 2024, and its content-analysis FAQ now states that customer content is not used to train generative AI, Adobe Stock submissions excepted. Two caveats remain. Uploads are scanned automatically for illegal content, with human review if flagged, and files stored on Adobe's servers may be analyzed with machine learning for product improvement unless you switch that off at account.adobe.com/privacy; business and minor accounts are opted out automatically. Google Play's data safety section lists device IDs shared for advertising or marketing, and Apple's label lists identifiers used to track you.
Projects save to Adobe's cloud as you work, and an accepted answer on Adobe's community forum says the app was not built for offline use. Canva, by contrast, lets Android users edit designs offline for up to 14 days. The cloud dependence shows in Google Play reviews: of 261 English reviews from 2026 that we read, 19 complain of lag, freezing or slowness, and others report white screens, failed downloads and a four-minute video edit using 2.5 GB of data. Adobe's reply to a September review passed a landscape-mode request for video editing to its product team. Video Quick Actions accept files up to 1 GB, and Caption Video stops at five minutes.

We scored it 7.0. A wide free plan, Firefly models trained on licensed content and a $99.99 yearly price below Canva Pro carry the score; cloud-only projects, 2026 lag complaints and a 250-credit allowance that video eats in seconds pull it down. Take it for social graphics, flyers or short videos when you want AI images cleared for commercial use. Skip it if you edit without a connection, plan heavy AI video generation, or want landscape editing on an Android tablet.

Yes. The Free plan costs nothing and needs no card, and it includes 4,000+ fonts, image background removal, videos up to 30 minutes, 5 GB of storage and a small daily allowance of AI generations. 4K export, Brand Kits, multi-format resizing and video background removal require Premium.
250 a month, and unused credits do not roll over. They pay for Firefly images, templates and video, plus partner models from Google and OpenAI, while Generate Text Effects, Generate Presentation and Clip Maker cost nothing. Complimentary Premium offers longer than 30 days give 250 credits for the whole period, not each month.
It is if you need 4K export, Brand Kits, video background removal or multi-format resizing, which the Free plan lacks. The yearly plan is $99.99 on the US App Store, below Canva Pro's $119.99 to $143.99 yearly tiers there, and Adobe's site offers a 30-day trial. Check the current price in the app; it varies by region.
You return to the Free plan. Adobe's help pages say files stay viewable and editable within the 5 GB free storage limit, but designs with Premium Adobe Stock content need an upgrade to export. If you subscribed through Google Play, cancel there: uninstalling does not cancel, and refunds within 48 hours go through Google Play.
Canva is the closest alternative: it is also template-first, Pro starts at $14.99 a month on the US App Store, and its Android app edits designs offline for up to 14 days. Picsart leans toward AI photo editing, with Pro at $83.99 a year on the App Store. Prices vary by region, so check them in each app.

Google Flow is the best app for making both AI pictures and AI video on a phone, because its images cost nothing and its 50 daily credits go entirely
