Best AI Image Generators on Mobile, Ranked
Six AI image apps in our catalogue score within 0.3 of each other, so the ranking is decided by the limits, not the pictures. One refills its free all
Adobe's Firefly app is free to install but not free to use: video, partner models and most extras spend a monthly credit balance, and the mobile plan includes 750 credits. It puts text-to-image, text-to-video, image-to-video, Generative Fill and sound effects in one phone workspace, with Google, OpenAI, Luma and Runway models next to Adobe's own. The catch is the rate card: a 5-second 1080p clip on the Firefly video model costs 500 credits.
Specs come from the official store listings and were last checked on 2026-10-06. Developers change pricing and requirements — check the store page before installing.
Firefly's mobile and web plan is listed at $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year in the App Store, and Adobe's FAQ gives it 750 generative credits that reset on the billing date and never roll over. The rate card matters more than the headline number: the Firefly video model costs 100 credits per second at 1080p, 50 at 720p and 20 at 540p. A default 5-second 1080p clip therefore takes 500 credits, three 720p clips take 750, and seven 540p clips take 700. Images are cheaper, at 10 credits for Firefly Image 5 and 20 for Image 4 Ultra. Free accounts receive credits on first use that expire a month later, and the help pages we read give no number. Prices are regional and can change, so check the current price in the app.
Text to video starts from a Model dropdown: Firefly Video, or partner models such as Veo and Luma Ray 3 in Adobe's mobile help. Resolution offers 540p, 720p or 1080p, and aspect ratio offers 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1; the store screenshot shows Auto (1080p), portrait and 5 seconds as defaults. Only Firefly Video exposes Shot size, Shot angle and eight Motion presets, including Zoom in, Tilt up, Static and Handheld, so partner clips give up that camera control. A fixed Seed plus the same prompt and settings returns similar results, and wrapping a word in double quotes asks for it as on-screen text. Where it breaks: Adobe's own video FAQ lists distorted bodies, unwanted objects and unintended motion.
The costs the listing skips show up in reviews. On iPhone, 14 of the 50 newest App Store reviews we read (25 August to 4 October 2026, versions 26.14 to 26.17) describe a 'Slow down' message saying generations are limited for security reasons, in some cases after days without use or with credits left. Android reviewers report 'Something went wrong' errors and a launch screen demanding a network connection. Credit drain is the other theme: one Play reviewer says two videos used the whole 760-credit balance. Adobe's FAQ says failed generations are normally refunded within minutes, and up to 24 hours for video. Partner models draw from the same balance as premium features.

Firefly earns its 7.0 for the breadth: image, video, Generative Fill and sound effects with Google, OpenAI, Luma and Runway models, plus real camera controls on Adobe's own video model. Take it if you want to compare those models on short 5-second social clips and already use Adobe accounts. Skip it if you need long clips, predictable costs or daily reliability, because 750 credits go quickly and recent reviews describe generation blocks.

It is free to download, but video and partner models spend credits. Adobe says free accounts get credits on first use that expire after a month, without stating a number on the pages we read, while the mobile and web plan listed at $4.99 a month brings 750 credits. Neither store lists ads. Prices vary by region, so confirm in the app.
The store screenshot shows the Firefly Video model defaulting to 5 seconds at 1080p, with 540p and 720p available and 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1 framing. Adobe's mobile help says duration options differ between Firefly Video and Veo 3, and a Play reviewer called an 8-second clip too short. Check the Duration menu for the model you pick.
At Adobe's published Firefly Video rates, 750 credits cover one 5-second 1080p clip (500 credits), three at 720p (250 each) or seven at 540p (100 each). Partner models are premium features charged from the same balance at varying rates. Credits reset monthly without rollover, and failed generations are normally refunded within minutes, up to 24 hours for video.
No offline mode appears in the store listings: generation runs online, and Android reviewers quote a 'requires a network connection' message at launch. Creations sync to Generation History, so finished work can be opened on the Firefly website. Subscriptions are managed in Google Play or the App Store, where you can cancel.
Kling AI is built around video clips and sells its own credit plans. Canva AI Photo & Video Editor starts from templates instead of prompts. Adobe Express is Adobe's design app and gets 250 monthly generative credits on its Premium plan, per Adobe's table. Firefly's edge is the choice of Google, OpenAI, Luma and Runway models plus Adobe sync.
