About Findmykids: GPS Phone Tracker

Findmykids, from Cyprus-based LETEM LTD, links a parent's phone with a child's phone or GPS watch in a shared circle: live location, place alerts, SOS, a Super Signal that rings through silent mode and, on Android only, Sound Around listening. Everything is unlocked for seven days; then the free Basic plan keeps the map and route history but only one place alert and three Super Signals, and the rest is split across paid tiers.

Findmykids Review: Real Safety Tools, Sold in Too Many Pieces

What the free Basic plan keeps after the 7-day trial

Every feature is open for seven days after installation. When the trial ends, the Basic plan still shows family members on the map with route history, but according to the help center it allows only three Super Signals in total and arrival or departure alerts for one place per circle. Care lifts those caps and adds Ride and Walking history with stops, speed and a Dangerous Driving flag. App blocking, daily limits and the unknown-caller filter belong to Plus, a second, pricier tier. A circle holds up to 20 members, and a family plan covers up to three adults. Google Family Link, by comparison, shows no in-app purchases on Google Play.

Sound Around: Android-only listening the child is told about

Sound Around turns on the microphone of the child's phone so a parent can hear the surroundings live. It needs the child to carry an Android phone or a compatible GPS watch: Apple's platform rules keep it off iPhones, and Findmykids disables it whenever the parent or child is in Germany or Austria because of local law. The child's phone shows a notification each time it starts, and the company's blog says the child can switch the feature off. On Android, pressing SOS starts Sound Around automatically; an SOS can be cancelled within five seconds and rings adults even on Do Not Disturb. Listening minutes are not part of Care or Plus and are bought separately.

Kid and Adult roles, Removal Protection and the privacy labels

Every circle member is an Adult or a Kid. Adults can hide their own location; a Kid cannot, and a Kid's role changes only after an adult confirms it. On Plus, Removal Protection uses Android's device-admin setting and Disable Deletion installs a management profile on iPhone, both set up on the child's own phone. The privacy policy says children are notified when location or microphone features run, geolocation is stored encrypted and never sold, and all data is erased after three months of inactivity. Google Play's Data safety form lists optional voice recordings, contacts and installed apps but no location, while Apple's label lists precise location and identifiers used to track you. Read the terms before installing it on a child's phone.

Care, Plus and paid minutes: what 199 recent Play reviews report

Of the 199 newest English reviews on Google Play, posted September 8 to 30, 2026, 32 give one or two stars. By our count, 16 are mainly about billing: post-trial charges, cancelling, or a Plus upsell after buying Care. Five describe locations that lag or freeze, and four come from teenagers objecting to being tracked. Findmykids' terms exclude refunds, and deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Apple's U.S. listing shows ten in-app purchases from $2.99 to $63.99, with Plus at $13.49; the company's site lists Care at €42.99 and Plus at €74.99 a year. Prices vary by region; check the current one in the app.

Pros

  • Basic plan keeps the live map and route history after the trial
  • Sound Around alerts the child, who can switch it off
  • SOS rings adults through silent and Do Not Disturb modes
  • Works with GPS watches as well as Android phones and iPhones
  • Circles hold up to 20 members, and kids can see parents on the map
  • Privacy policy says geolocation is stored encrypted and never sold

Cons

  • Basic allows only three Super Signals and alerts for one place
  • Parental controls need Plus on top of Care; listening minutes cost extra
  • Terms exclude refunds, and deleting the app does not cancel billing
  • iPhone kids get no Sound Around and only whole-phone blocking

Verdict

We scored it 6.4. The tools are real: a shared map, a free place alert, an SOS that rings through Do Not Disturb, and a listening feature the child is told about and can turn off. The score drops on money and lag: three paid layers, no refunds and recent reports of stale locations. Take it if your child carries an Android phone or GPS watch and you have agreed on its use together. Skip it if you only need location, or if your teenager has not agreed to be tracked.

Core function7.5Live map, place alerts, SOS and Sound Around in one app; lagging locations are the main functional complaint.
Ease of use7.0Circles and Adult or Kid roles are clear, but setup asks for many permissions on the child's phone.
Monetisation4.5Basic stops at one place alert; Care, Plus and listening minutes are sold separately, with no refunds.
Performance6.0Five of 32 recent low ratings describe frozen locations, and saved places must sit 200 m apart.
Privacy & permissions6.5Children are notified and can mute Sound Around, yet microphone access and tracking identifiers remain.

Frequently asked questions

1

Is Findmykids free after the 7-day trial?

Partly. After seven days of full access, the free Basic plan keeps family members on the map with route history, but allows only three Super Signals in total and alerts for one place. Ride and Walking details, unlimited alerts and parental controls need the paid Care or Plus plans.

2

Does my child know when Sound Around is on?

Yes. The child's phone shows a notification whenever Sound Around starts, and the child can switch it off. It works only with an Android phone or a compatible GPS watch, not an iPhone, and is disabled when either side is in Germany or Austria. The company asks parents to agree on its use first.

3

How much does Findmykids Plus cost and is it worth it?

Apple's U.S. listing shows Plus at $13.49, and the company's site lists it at €74.99 a year; prices vary by region, so check the app. Plus is worth it only for app blocking, daily limits or Removal Protection. Location tools sit in Care, and Sound Around minutes cost extra on either plan.

4

How do I cancel Findmykids and delete my data?

Deleting the app does not cancel billing. Go to My Plan, Manage Subscription, then Suspend and Forever. The company's terms exclude refunds; payments made through Google Play or Apple are refunded only by that store. Delete Account sits under Settings and My Account, and the privacy policy says all data is erased after three months of inactivity.

5

Is Findmykids better than Life360 or Google Family Link?

Only if you want Sound Around or GPS-watch support. For location alone, Google Family Link shows no in-app purchases on Google Play and still sends arrival and departure alerts. Life360 centres on driving reports, with memberships from $7.99 to $24.99 a month and a Contains ads badge on its free tier.
