About Huckleberry: Baby Tracker

Huckleberry is a baby tracker whose logging stays free and ad-free: sleep, feeds, diapers, pumping, growth and medicine for several children, synced across caregivers' phones. What sets it apart is SweetSpot, a nap-timing prediction from two months that needs Plus, and Berry, an AI chat added in February 2026 for Premium members. The main limitation is reliability: a September 2026 update left some Android users stuck on an 'Update required' screen.

Huckleberry Review: Free Logging Done Right, Nap Timing Behind a Paywall

What stays free, and why SweetSpot costs $68.88 a year

Huckleberry Labs, an Irvine, California company founded by Jessica Toh and Seng Oon Toh, keeps every tracker free: sleep, nursing with left and right timers, bottles, solids, diapers, pumping, growth, potty, medicine and milestones, plus reminders, basic reports and multiple child profiles. The paid tiers start with Plus at $11.99 a month or $68.88 a year, which adds SweetSpot, Schedule Creator, Insights tips and Enhanced Reports. Premium costs $14.99 a month or $119.88 a year and adds the Berry chat and custom sleep plans. Every new account gets 14 days of Premium without entering a card, and the trial does not turn into a subscription on its own. Check the current price in the app; it varies by region.

SweetSpot: a nap forecast that waits until two months

SweetSpot estimates when a child is likely to be ready for the next nap or bedtime from logged sleep and age. It switches on at two months by calendar date, using adjusted age, so a full-term baby born on July 1 gets it on September 1, not after eight weeks. Offline, it falls back to default predictions until the app reconnects. On iPhone the next window can sit on the lock screen as a Live Activity. Android gets no widgets, Apple Watch app, Live Activities or Siri logging, which the help center lists as iOS-only extras of Plus. A July 2026 Play review says the timing drifted after a move to three naps. We do not give medical or sleep-training advice; questions about a child's sleep belong with a pediatrician.

Berry, Apple's privacy label and who owns the sleep log

Berry, launched on February 5, 2026 for Premium members on iOS and Android, reads a child's logs, profile and sleep plan before answering. The help center says it is not a doctor, can be wrong, and that conversations are not used to train public models. Its chat view keeps the last 12 hours, while saved memory is shared by everyone signed into the same account and is erased only through a support ticket. Apple's privacy label lists health data, photos and identifiers linked to you, and usage data used for tracking across other companies' apps. The Terms of Use state that Product Data, including a child's sleep records, is owned by Huckleberry and its licensors, and anonymized data may appear in published research. Check the terms with the official provider before you sign up.

Huckleberry vs Napper and Nara Baby, and the September lockout

Napper, from Napper AB, also sells nap predictions: its Napper Sleep plan lists at $89.99 a year in the US App Store, against $68.88 for Plus here, and its listing says one subscription can be shared with any number of caregivers. Nara Baby by Nara Organics lets you invite partners and grandparents into an account and offers lifetime purchases, while Huckleberry shares data only by signing every phone into the same login. Reliability is the weak point: between September 3 and 10, 2026, over ten one- and two-star Play reviews described an 'Update required' screen that stayed even on the newest build, and the developer's replies suggested reinstalling. Other 2026 reviews report entries that never saved and repeated pop-ups selling Premium.

Pros

  • All trackers, reminders and multi-child profiles stay free with no ads
  • The 14-day Premium trial needs no card and never auto-bills
  • CSV export for each child, emailed as a 24-hour download link
  • SweetSpot nap windows appear on the iPhone lock screen
  • Cancelling keeps all past logs and any existing sleep plans
  • Logging and reports keep working offline and sync after reconnecting

Cons

  • A September 2026 'Update required' loop locked some Android users out
  • Caregivers share one login; there are no separate partner accounts
  • Android lacks the widgets, Apple Watch app and Siri logging iPhones get
  • English only, and Berry's memory is erased only via a support ticket

Verdict

We rate it 7.5: the free tracker is broad, ad-free and shareable, and SweetSpot gives paying parents a clear nap window from two months. Take it if two parents log on iPhones and want sleep timing without a consultant. Think twice if you need an Android widget, separate caregiver accounts or a language other than English, or cannot risk a lockout like September's. It does not replace advice from your pediatrician.

Core function8.5The free tier logs more than ten categories for several children; SweetSpot and Berry add paid planning on top.
Ease of use8.0One-tap home tiles and a keypad entry option added in September 2026, but upgrade pop-ups interrupt logging.
Monetisation7.5No ads and a card-free trial, yet nap predictions cost $68.88 a year and Berry $119.88.
Performance6.0The September 2026 update lockout and reports of unsaved entries weigh on a tracker meant for round-the-clock use.
Privacy & permissions6.5Apple's label lists tracking via usage data, and the terms say Huckleberry owns a child's Product Data.

Frequently asked questions

1

Is the Huckleberry app free?

Yes, the tracking is free and shows no ads: sleep, feeds, diapers, pumping, growth, medicine, reminders, basic reports and several child profiles cost nothing. SweetSpot nap predictions, Schedule Creator and Insights need Plus, while the Berry AI chat and custom sleep plans need Premium.

2

When does Huckleberry SweetSpot start working?

SweetSpot starts at two months by calendar date, using adjusted age, rather than after eight weeks; a full-term baby born on July 1 gets predictions on September 1. It requires a Plus or Premium membership. Offline, it shows default rather than personalized predictions.

3

How much do Huckleberry Plus and Premium cost?

On the official pricing page, in US dollars, Plus costs $11.99 a month or $68.88 a year, and Premium $14.99 a month or $119.88 a year. The App Store also lists a Sleep Improvement Plan purchase at $49.99. There is no pause option. Check the current price in the app; it varies by region.

4

Can I export my Huckleberry data?

Yes. Each child profile has an 'Export tracking data as CSV' option, and the file arrives as an emailed link that works for 24 hours. Cancelling a subscription keeps all logs and existing sleep plans. Account deletion is permanent, and the app cannot import data back.

5

What data does Huckleberry collect about my baby?

It stores a child's birthdate, time zone, sleep, feeding and daily routines, plus the parent's name and email, on servers hosted by third-party companies. Google Play lists encryption in transit and a deletion request option, and the help center says Berry chats are not used to train public models. We describe these policies; we do not certify them.
