About OurFamilyWizard Co-Parent App

OurFamilyWizard has no free parent tier or trial: each co-parent buys a one- or two-year plan, from $110 a year on the U.S. site to $299.88 for Max, the only paid tier that records calls. Its core is permanent messaging: sent messages can't be edited or deleted and show when they were first viewed, beside a shared custody calendar and expense log. The upfront bill is the top complaint in recent Play reviews.

OurFamilyWizard Review: Permanent Records, Paid a Year at a Time

$110 a year is the floor, and there is no monthly plan

A parent account needs a plan billed for one or two years. The entry tier, called Choose your own on the U.S. site, costs $110 a year with 1 GB of storage and receive-only calls. Essentials at $149.99 adds 45 call minutes a month, GPS Check-ins, 5 GB and up to 12 OFWpay transfers. Premium at $216 removes the call and storage caps, and Max at $299.88 adds recording. Only a first subscription bought on the website can be refunded in full within 30 days; Google Play buyers must ask Google within 48 hours, and the company refunds no renewals. Check the current price in the app; it varies by region.

ToneMeter and Writing Assistant: five tones, no send block

ToneMeter checks a draft message, or a note on a Check-in or Moment, and turns its signal bars red when it finds phrasing it reads as emotionally charged. It never stops you from sending, which the company confirmed in an August 2026 reply to a Play review asking for a hard block. Writing Assistant, included from Essentials up, offers a rewrite in a considerate, casual, neutral, direct or professional tone. The company says Writing Assistant runs on self-hosted models and sends no messages to third-party AI providers. In the App Store, ToneMeter is also sold as a separate $9.99 add-on.

What Play's Data safety form and the terms say about deletion

Google Play's Data safety form says you cannot request deletion of your data. The terms explain part of the reason: messages count as shared data, and deleting them needs the consent of every linked subscriber, including your co-parent. The same form lists health info, race and ethnicity, religious or political beliefs and sexual orientation as optional data, and says device IDs are shared for analytics. The privacy policy, updated April 7, 2026, lets the AI features learn from your information but bars partners from training their own models on it. The terms also tell users not to upload health records covered by HIPAA, although the Info Bank has sections for immunizations and test results.

OurFamilyWizard vs AppClose and TalkingParents on price and calls

Both rivals bill monthly and let you try first. AppClose charges each parent $7.99 a month on its website after a 60-day trial with no card, and TalkingParents starts at $7 a month with a 30-day trial and 30 call minutes. Here, 45 minutes a month means paying $149.99 upfront. Calls run over the internet through Twilio, so no phone number is shared, and both parents must consent to audio and video separately. Of the 150 newest U.S. English Play reviews, from June 15 to September 29, 2026, 76 give one or two stars; roughly half of those cite price, billing or refunds, and many describe calls that fail to connect.

Pros

  • Sent messages can't be edited, deleted or unsent, and show first-viewed timestamps
  • Child, third-party and practitioner accounts cost nothing on top of a parent plan
  • Writing Assistant rewrites drafts in five tones on self-hosted models
  • Fee waivers for SNAP, Medicaid or SSI recipients include Essentials plus unlimited calls
  • Unlimited PDF reports, and Premium adds notarized certified records by mail

Cons

  • No trial or monthly billing: the cheapest plan is $110 upfront per parent
  • Only Max, at $299.88 a year, records calls, and only the ones you place
  • 76 of the 150 newest U.S. Play reviews give one or two stars
  • Play's Data safety form offers no way to request deletion of your data

Verdict

We scored OurFamilyWizard 6.9: strong records, with messages nobody can edit or delete, consent-based calls and logged calendar requests, held back by annual billing, a narrow refund window and recording locked to the $299.88 Max plan. Take it if your parenting plan or a professional already names it, or if you qualify for a fee waiver. Look at AppClose or TalkingParents first if you want monthly billing and a trial. Whether a court requires a specific app depends on your case; we don't give legal advice.

Core function8.5Permanent timestamped messages, calendar change requests, consent-based calls, OFWpay transfers and free accounts for kids and professionals.
Ease of use6.5Writing Assistant helps, but reports are built on the website, and reviewers cite a hard-to-find parenting schedule and repeated sign-outs.
Monetisation5.5No trial or monthly option; $110 to $299.88 a year per parent, with call recording reserved for Max.
Performance6.076 of the 150 newest U.S. Play reviews give one or two stars, often citing dropped calls and logouts.
Privacy & permissions7.0No tracking data on Apple's label and location used only for Check-ins and Moments, but Play lists no deletion route.

Frequently asked questions

1

Does OurFamilyWizard have a free trial?

No. The app is free to download, but each parent needs a plan billed for one or two years, from $110 a year on the U.S. site. Instead of a trial, a first website subscription can be refunded in full within 30 days, while Google Play purchases fall under Google's 48-hour window. Check the terms with OurFamilyWizard before you subscribe.

2

Does ToneMeter stop you from sending a mean message?

No. ToneMeter only flags phrases it reads as emotionally charged, using red signal bars, and you can still send the message. Writing Assistant, from the Essentials plan up, can rewrite the draft in a considerate, casual, neutral, direct or professional tone, and the choice to use it is yours. Neither tool filters what your co-parent sends you.

3

How much does OurFamilyWizard cost per year?

On the U.S. website, per parent per year: $110 for the entry plan, $149.99 for Essentials, $216 for Premium and $299.88 for Max. App Store prices differ slightly, with Premium at $219. Co-parents each need a plan, though one can pay for both, and military families pay for one. Check the current price in the app; it varies by region.

4

What happens to my OurFamilyWizard messages if I stop paying?

They stay on the company's servers. Sent messages can't be deleted, and removing shared data needs consent from every linked subscriber. After a plan expires, the terms allow two grace logins within six months; after that, you must renew to sign in. Reports are built and downloaded on the website, so save the PDFs you need before the plan ends.

5

Does OurFamilyWizard track my location?

Only when you create a Check-in or tag a Moment, according to the company, and the app stops using location once the entry is saved. A Check-in must be within 500 feet of where you are and works only on mobile. Play's Data safety form lists location as optional, and Apple's label shows no tracking data.
