Best AI Homework and Study Apps, Ranked
A homework app can do the problem for a student or teach them how. The best one on a phone does the first in a way that leads to the second: Photomath
Khan Academy is a nonprofit's library of videos, articles and practice exercises, and the lessons are free with no ads. Each skill is worth 100 Mastery Points, and Mastery Challenges and Course Challenges test what you have already practiced. The app works without an account and offers 26 interface languages. Its weak spot is the account side: recent reviews describe sign-in loops and repeated logouts, and parts of the site stay web-only.
Specs come from the official store listings and were last checked on 2026-10-06. Developers change pricing and requirements — check the store page before installing.
Practice runs on a point ladder. The help center gives each skill 100 Mastery Points: Familiar is worth 50, Proficient 80 and Mastered 100. An exercise finished with 70 to 99 percent right lands on Familiar, a perfect run reaches Proficient, and Mastered comes from correct answers on mixed-skill assessments such as unit tests and Course Challenges. The store screenshots show a 5th grade math course at 2,260 of 13,000 points, a Mastery Challenge card that sets six questions on skills already practiced, and an exercise labelled Do 4 problems. Nothing sits behind a plan: the help center says lessons are always free and carry no ads, and neither store lists in-app purchases.
Offline use is narrower than the store listing suggests. The help center's steps are the same on iPhone and Android: tap the Bookmark icon on a video, open Bookmarks, press the download button, and switch on HD under Download settings. The article describes video downloads only. For a permanently disconnected setup it points to Kolibri, a separate platform from Learning Equality that serves Khan Academy videos and exercises from a local server. The player itself is plain: a 1x speed button, Share, Transcript and an Up next list, as in the decimals video on the screenshots. One September review of version 8.5.1 says a bookmarked lesson refused to download.
The price of the question is the account. Among the 50 one- and two-star reviews in the 150 newest English ones on Google Play, about ten describe sign-in trouble: a rejected password, a login that opens a browser and never returns to the app, or a forced re-login. Recent App Store reviews report the same browser hand-off and logouts. The listing adds that community discussions, programming content, test prep and parent, teacher and district tools stay on the website. Khanmigo, the tutor chatbot, is priced separately at $4 a month or $44 a year, for adults 18 and older with a US billing address. A child under 13 who signs up alone needs a parent to approve the account within seven days. The App Store lists 13+ and Google Play says Teen. Prices are US listings and can change.

Choose it for free, structured practice in math and science, with a Mastery Points trail that shows what is left to learn, and expect to use the website for discussions, programming and test prep. Install it if you can live with account hiccups: September reviews on both stores describe repeated logouts. Skip it if you need a Russian or Arabic interface, full offline exercises, or a game-like format for small children, who have the separate Khan Academy Kids app.

Yes. Lessons, exercises and quizzes cost nothing, the help center says there are no ads, and neither Google Play nor the App Store lists in-app purchases. An account is optional, though it syncs progress with the website. Only the Khanmigo tutor is paid.
Each skill is worth 100 points. Reaching Familiar, by getting 70 to 99 percent right on an exercise, earns 50. A perfect run reaches Proficient at 80, and correct answers on a mixed-skill assessment such as a unit test or Course Challenge make a skill Mastered at 100. Missed questions later can move a skill back down a level.
Only Khanmigo, its tutor chatbot, which its own page prices at $4 a month or $44 a year before sales tax. Buyers must be 18 or older with a US billing address, and children join through a parent's account. Teachers in eligible countries get the teacher tools free. The nonprofit is funded by donations and grants, which are optional.
On the website, open your profile name, choose Settings and scroll to Delete your account, then confirm with your password or a Google, Facebook, Clever, ClassLink, Apple or Microsoft sign-in. Logging back in within 48 hours restores it, and linked child accounts must go first. Khanmigo is cancelled in Settings under the Khanmigo tab and runs to the end of the billing period.
It teaches school subjects free with no ads, while Duolingo covers languages and shows ads on its free tier. Gauth answers photographed homework problems and sells Plus at $11.99 a month in the US. Google Classroom is a teacher's posting and grading tool, free with a school account, rather than a lesson library.
