About Suno - AI Songs, Music, Lyrics

Suno turns a typed prompt, a hummed melody or your own lyrics into a full song with vocals, up to 8 minutes long. The free plan gives 50 credits a day, enough for five generations of two songs each, on the lighter v6-mini model. The catch is downloads: free accounts get 7 for life, Pro gets 20 a month, and only paid plans carry commercial rights.

Suno Review: Ten Free Songs a Day, but Seven Downloads for Life

50 daily credits, ten songs and the v6-mini ceiling

Every generation costs 10 credits and returns two songs, so the free allowance of 50 credits, refilled once a day on a UTC clock, buys five generations or ten songs. Free accounts run on v6-mini, the lighter model; v6 and v6-wild, the two top models, sit behind Pro. A single generation can run up to 8 minutes on any of them. Max Mode, an option that spends extra credits on songs over two minutes and on covers that must stay close to the original, drains the allowance faster, and prompts stuffed with images or video cost more too. Unused credits do not roll over to tomorrow. Free songs are limited to personal, non-commercial use, and free uploads of your own audio stop at 8 minutes against 30 on paid plans.

Voices: your own singer from 15 seconds to 4 minutes of audio

Voices is the feature that separates a Pro plan from the free one. You record or upload between 15 seconds and 4 minutes of singing, keep the best two minutes, then read a short on-screen phrase aloud so the system can match the speaker to the recording. Once saved, the voice replaces the default singer when you paste lyrics, add a style and press Create. An a cappella take gives the cleanest result; if the file has backing music, the app separates the vocal itself. Voices belongs to Pro and Premier, and several 2026 reviewers say the read-aloud check fails to recognise the phrase or rejects clean recordings. Custom Models go a step further: up to three private models, each trained from as few as six of your own songs in about 2 to 5 minutes.

$10 or $30 a month, and the 20-download ceiling

Pro costs $10 a month or $96 a year for 2,500 credits, which the App Store listing counts as 500 songs; Premier costs $30 for 10,000 credits and 2,000 songs. Prices are US figures and can change by region. The number to watch is downloads: Pro allows 20 a month, Premier 60, and unused ones expire on the billing date. Saving the same song again, or in several formats, counts once, and stems come free with the song. WAV files exist only on the website; the phone saves MP3. The App Store sells a single extra download credit from $2.99, which is why several reviewers do the arithmetic and call the cap steep. Commercial rights apply only to songs downloaded while subscribed.

Pros

  • One prompt returns two songs for 10 credits, each up to 8 minutes
  • Free plan refills 50 credits every day, roughly ten songs
  • Voices puts your own singing on a song, from 15 seconds of audio
  • Auto Split separates a track into up to 12 stems
  • Custom Models train on as few as six of your own songs
  • Songs stay link-only until you choose to publish them

Cons

  • Free accounts get only 7 lifetime downloads, none cleared for commercial use
  • Pro caps downloads at 20 a month, and the phone saves MP3 only
  • Reviewers say the phone app lacks web creation controls and workspaces
  • Reviewers report v6 repeating vocal sounds and drifting from detailed prompts

Verdict

Suno earns 7.2 for the quickest route from an idea to a finished song up to 8 minutes long, with Voices, stems and Custom Models waiting behind the paywall. It suits hobbyists who want to hear their own lyrics sung and are happy to listen and share inside the app. Skip it if you need to export many songs: seven free downloads, or 20 a month at $10, run out fast. Producers who want full controls should expect the phone app to trail the website.

Core function8.5Full songs up to 8 minutes, stems, Voices and Sounds, though reviewers say detailed prompts drift and vocals repeat.
Ease of use7.5Simple mode needs one sentence, but reviewers report missing web creation controls and phone-number sign-in lockouts.
Monetisation5.5Seven lifetime free downloads, 20 a month on the $10 Pro plan, and credits that expire daily or monthly.
Performance7.0Reviews on versions 1.85 to 1.91 report playback failures, crashes mid-generation and bugs in workspaces.
Privacy & permissions6.5The label links contact info and content to you; content trains models and voice data is kept up to three years.

Frequently asked questions

1

Is Suno free to use on iPhone and Android?

Yes, installing is free and every account gets 50 credits a day, which pays for five generations of two songs on the v6-mini model. The limit is downloads: free accounts can save only 7 songs for life, for personal use. Pro at $10 a month adds the v6 and v6-wild models, 20 downloads a month and commercial rights. Prices are US and vary by region.

2

Can Suno sing with my own voice?

Yes, on Pro and Premier through Voices. Record or upload 15 seconds to 4 minutes of singing, keep the best two minutes, and read a short phrase aloud so the app can match you to the recording. Then pick the Voice model, paste lyrics, add a style and press Create. A cappella recordings work best, and reviewers report that the verification step sometimes fails.

3

How much does Suno Pro cost and is it worth it?

Pro is $10 a month or $96 a year and brings 2,500 credits, the v6 and v6-wild models, commercial rights and 20 downloads a month; Premier is $30 for 10,000 credits and 60 downloads. It pays off if you save songs to use elsewhere. If you only listen and share inside the app, the free plan's ten songs a day may be enough. Prices are US and vary by region.

4

How do I cancel a Suno subscription bought in the app?

Cancel in your phone's own settings, not inside Suno. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions and Suno; on Android, open your Google account's Payments & subscriptions page, then Subscriptions and Suno. Support can usually change only plans paid on suno.com, so it may be unable to help with store purchases. Songs stay playable and shareable after a plan ends.

5

What are the alternatives to Suno?

Udio is the nearest alternative: it also turns a text prompt into a complete song, though its US App Store rating is 4.2 against Suno's 4.9. Mubert plays endless generated streams built from samples rather than songs with lyrics. SoundCloud is the pick if you would rather hear music made by human artists, from independent producers to label catalogs.
