Best AI Music Apps for Songs, Stems and Practice, Ranked
AI music apps do three different jobs: write a whole song from a prompt, split a song you own into its parts, or play an endless stream to work to. Su
Udio turns a text prompt into a song with vocals on iPhone, and Custom mode takes your own lyrics while Extend stacks up to 10 sections onto a clip. Free accounts get 10 daily credits and 32-second clips by default. The catch is what leaves the app: downloads of audio, video and stems are switched off, output is for personal, non-commercial use, and Voices and the Style Library stay on the web.
Specs come from the official store listings and were last checked on 2026-10-06. Developers change pricing and requirements — check the store page before installing.
Every Create, Extend, Remix, Inpaint or Edit press returns two songs, and the bill is per press: 2 credits for a pair of 32-second clips, 4 credits for a pair of 130-second songs. The free plan carries 10 credits a day plus a separate 100-credit monthly limit for busy days, and neither rolls over. At 32 seconds, which is the default length, that is five presses a day. At 130 seconds free accounts are limited to three songs a day, whatever the balance. Trimming costs nothing. Several one-star reviewers describe getting clips of about thirty seconds. Creating requires an account, with Google, Discord, X, Apple or email sign-up, and the terms allow one free account per person.
Extend is the feature that turns a clip into a track. Tap it on a song, choose before or after, Intro, Outro or Crop & Extend, keep or edit the pre-filled prompt, and stack up to 10 sections; leaving the lyrics blank gives an instrumental break. Custom mode holds your own lyrics in a lyric editor, or Write for me drafts them, with Regenerate and a history to step back through. Manual mode skips prompt expansion, and the same prompt, settings and seed repeat the same output. The gaps matter more. The store text lists audio upload as a Pro feature, yet the help article, as edited in January 2026, says uploading, remixing, inpainting and styling are not yet possible in the app, and Voices is web-only. Of the latest 150 US reviews, 20 mention lyrics, and most complain that words get ignored or sung as gibberish.
In the App Store, Standard is $10 a month or $96 a year and Pro is $30 or $289, and the help center sets monthly credits at 2,400 and 6,000. Credit packs run $3 for 100 and $25 for 1,000, so a pack credit costs 2.5 cents against about 0.4 cents on Standard, roughly six times more. Packs never expire. Subscribers cannot take songs out either: downloading of audio, video and stems is disabled, the terms bar copying output and posting it to streaming or video platforms, and use is personal and non-commercial. Sharing runs through udio.com links. The store description still lists audio and video exports on the free plan, and 11 of the latest 150 reviews are about missing downloads. The terms call subscription payments non-refundable. Prices are US figures and vary by region.

Udio earns 6.5 for a lyric editor, a 10-section Extend and 10 free credits a day, held back by switched-off downloads and an app that skips Voices, the Style Library and remix. Try it free if you want song ideas to stream or share by link. Skip it if you need files to keep, release commercially or build in a DAW, or want stronger lyric control.
