Free Video Editors Without a Watermark: What Actually Exports Clean

Add ScoredApps as a preferred source on GoogleFive vertical video frames on a conveyor belt, each leaving through a different exit — Free Video Editors Without a Watermark: What Actually Exports Clean

VN is the free video editor that exports clean with nothing to delete, nothing to watch and no resolution cap — a full multi-track timeline and 4K 60fps output at no cost, as of September 2026. CapCut is the stronger editor and its watermark is a deletable outro clip, so it ties on the result and wins on tools. InShot and YouCut, from the same studio, take the next two places: YouCut never marks a video, InShot clears its mark after one ad. Filmora comes last because a clean export is a separate $4.99 purchase. Below is what each one actually does when you press export, what the free tier withholds, and which one to install for which job.

How we chose

We ranked on one question — what happens to your footage at export — and only then on the editor behind it. Three things count against an app: a mark burned into the frames, a resolution or length cap on the free tier, and a paywall that sits between you and your own file. Feature depth breaks ties. Prices are US App Store listings checked on September 22, 2026, and every app here is free to download on iOS and Android.

1. VN — clean export, no strings, and a real timeline

VN exports without a watermark, without an export limit and without a paywall on resolution: 4K at 60fps is in the free tier. The timeline is the closest thing to desktop software on a phone — 0.05-second trimming, overlay layers, keyframes, masks, speed curves and colour grading — and auto captions and text-to-speech are free too.

VN Pro at $7.99 a month or $69.99 a year adds AI kits, sold on top with credit packs from $1. The catch in 2026 reviews is stability rather than money: long projects with several overlays lag, and some fail to render. Save often and keep projects short.

For: anyone who wants desktop-style control and a clean file without paying. Not if: you edit multi-minute projects with many layers and cannot afford a failed export.

2. CapCut — the best free editor, with one clip to delete

CapCut does not draw a logo into your frames. It adds a three-second outro clip at the end of the timeline; select it, delete it, and the export is clean at whatever resolution your phone can encode — 1080p on any recent handset, 4K 60fps on the fast ones. Nothing in the free tier caps length.

What you get for free is more than any rival: keyframes on every property, speed curves, chroma key, stabilisation, background removal and the best auto captions on this list. Pro at $9.99 a month sells extra effects, cloud space and heavier AI, not the export. The reasons it is second rather than first are the extra step at export and the terms of service, which grant ByteDance a broad licence to material you upload for processing — worth reading yourself before client work.

For: short-form video, captions, anything that needs a serious timeline. Not if: you are producing work you will license, or your phone is short on storage — it is an 815 MB install before project caches.

3. YouCut — never adds a mark, keeps it simple

YouCut is the lighter sibling of InShot from the same studio, and its whole pitch is in the listing: free, no watermark. Exports carry no mark at any resolution, ads sit around the app rather than in the file, and the 161 MB install is the smallest here. The timeline is multi-layer with chroma key, speed and auto captions.

The limits are where the paywall is: effects and transitions are basic, the good fonts and music are behind YouCut Pro at $6.99 a month, $25.99 a year or $59.99 once, and reviewers say it slows down as projects grow.

For: trimming, merging and posting clips without fuss. Not if: you want a rich effects library without paying.

4. InShot — one ad clears the mark

InShot watermarks free exports, but honestly: watch one ad before rendering and the mark is gone, no subscription. That makes it the most complete free editor on this list in raw features — keyframes, picture-in-picture, chroma key, object tracking for text and stickers, auto captions, background removal — at 264 MB.

It sits fourth because the ad is a step some people cannot stand: 2026 reviews describe ads that loop or hide the close button. Pro removes them at $4.99 a month, $19.99 a year or $49.99 for life, and a separate Remove Ads option costs $3.99. The music library is thin.

For: social video and slideshows if you can tolerate an ad per export, or pay $49.99 once. Not if: an ad loop would send you looking for something else.

5. Filmora — a good timeline behind three paywalls

Filmora has the most desktop-like multi-track timeline of the five and strong auto captions and AI voices. It is last because a clean export is a product of its own: Remove Logo Roll is a $4.99 purchase, separate from Filmora Pro at $9.99 a month or $45.99 a year, and separate again from the AI credit packs at $8.99 and $15.99. Four charges for what looks like one app.

For: someone who already pays for Filmora on desktop and wants the same layout on a phone. Not if: you want a free clean export — three of the four apps above give you one.

What about the editor already on your phone

For a trim, a mute or a speed change, Google Photos does it with no install and no mark on Android and iPhone: trim, stabilise, crop, speed, text and music, all free. It is not a timeline — no layers, no captions from speech — so it is a first stop, not a replacement for the five above.

What we left out

Filter-first apps such as the built-in editors in social apps export straight to their own feed and are not editors you can take a file out of. Desktop tools with phone versions that cap free export at 720p did not make the cut because the cap is exactly the tax this list is about. And anything sold as a "watermark remover" for CapCut or InShot is solving a problem neither app creates — delete the clip or watch the ad.

Bottom line

Install VN if a clean export with no steps and no cost is the whole brief. Install CapCut if you want the strongest free editor and do not mind deleting one clip — and read its terms first if the footage is for a client. YouCut and InShot are fine for quick social clips; Filmora only if you already pay for it elsewhere. Free tiers change, so this list carries the date it was checked.

Frequently asked questions

1

Which free video editor has no watermark at all?

VN and YouCut export with no mark in the free tier, and the editor built into Google Photos adds nothing either. CapCut's watermark is a three-second outro clip you delete before exporting, which ends in the same clean file.

2

Does CapCut add a watermark to videos?

Not into the frames. CapCut appends a three-second ending clip with its logo to the timeline; delete that clip and export, and the video is clean at up to 4K 60fps depending on your phone. Templates made by other users can carry their own branding.

3

Is YouCut really watermark free?

Yes. YouCut exports without a watermark in the free version at any resolution; ads appear in the app, not in the file. YouCut Pro, from $6.99 a month or $59.99 once as of September 2026, only adds effects, fonts, music and removes the ads.

4

How do you remove the InShot watermark for free?

Watch one ad before exporting. InShot offers watermark removal for a single export after an ad, with no purchase. To remove it permanently, InShot Pro costs $4.99 a month, $19.99 a year or $49.99 once, listed in the US App Store as of September 2026.

5

Can you remove a watermark after exporting?

Not cleanly. Cropping cuts into the framing and blur tools leave a visible smear. If the mark is burned in, re-export from the project with the mark removed, or rebuild the edit in an editor that does not add one.
