About Gumslinger 2: Ducks & Nukes

Gumslinger 2 is Itatake's turn-based sequel to its gummy-physics duel game — suck up rubber ducks, anvils, armchairs and nukes from the arena and fire them at a jelly opponent who flops, flies and explodes — free on iOS since January 20, 2026 and past 100,000 Android installs. Twelve worlds, 150-plus characters, 50 bullets; a Platinum from Pocket Gamer; no forced ads, per fans. The catch: the duels are against AI dressed as players, and fans of the first game miss its reflexes.

Gumslinger 2 Review: Gummy Duels Turn-Based, Ducks and Nukes Included

Suck Up the Scenery, Fire It, Watch the Jelly Fly

The first Gumslinger was a real-time shooter of jelly figures; the sequel is a turn-based duel in the Bowmasters mould, and the joke is the ammunition: your gun sucks up whatever is in the arena — a rubber duck, a chainsaw, an anvil, a cosy armchair, a nuke — and fires it, with gummy physics sending the loser flopping across the screen or into pieces. Twelve worlds, over 150 characters, guns and hats, 50 bullets unlocked from cards and upgraded, six Legendary bullets with special abilities. Pocket Gamer gave it a Platinum in February 2026. The App Store's most-voted review, February 1 with the game a fortnight old, opens with no forced ads and praises optional purchases and skins earned within thirty minutes; a July 23 Play five-star with ten votes, a years-long fan of the original, finds the sequel more strategic and harder. Rated 13+ and Teen, in ten languages, 562 MB on iOS 15.6, Android 7.0.

Not the First Game, Not Real Players, and a Piñata That Lags

The first game's fans are divided. A January 31 App Store two-star says the sequel should be scrapped — turn-based combat replaces quick reactions with adjusting an angle by a degree per shot, the art is unpolished, upgrades are spoon-fed; a May 26 Play three-star with four votes calls it Bow Masters nearly one to one, laggier and with a smaller cast, and recommends the first game instead. A June 20 App Store one-star makes the accusation that recurs: the duels pretend to be live multiplayer, and the other player is AI — shocker, not there. Two technical threads: an August 14 Play three-star finds every graphics preset performs the same and the piñata-opening scenes lag on a strong phone; a March 4 review and a September 19 one-star lost all progress with no save system, the latter after a reinstall. The July fan wants the Word Chain reward ads removed because they will not close. Ratings: 4.7 from 1,129 on the App Store, 4.4 from 2,860 on Play.

Optional Ads, a $9.99 Removal, Piñatas, Cards and Tickets

Apple flags Loot Boxes, Advertising and In-App Purchases; Google Play prices items from $0.49 to $49.99. The App Store's top ten are Remove Ads at $9.99, a Value Pack at $9.99, Lion and Dragon Piñatas at $1.99 and $2.99, Rare and Legendary Cards at $0.99 and $2.99, Tickets at $1.99 and $4.99, a Starter Pack at $1.99 and a gun, Bloodbone, at $2.99 — piñatas being the loot boxes. The February 1 fan's account is that ads are optional and rewards generous; the July fan's is that one reward-ad network cheats. The September 16 update added a Gummy Bear Hunt event, new guns and accessories and fixed achievements. Apple's tracking list is Identifiers and Usage Data not linked to you; Google's data-safety card lists Location, Financial info and three other types collected and shared. Prices are regional.

Pros

  • Anything in the arena is ammunition — ducks, anvils, armchairs, nukes
  • Gummy physics that make every hit a spectacle
  • 150-plus characters, guns and hats, 50 bullets and six Legendaries across 12 worlds
  • No forced ads and generous early unlocks, per the most-voted App Store review
  • A Pocket Gamer Platinum and 4.7 on the App Store

Cons

  • Duels against AI presented as other players, per a June review
  • Turn-based angle-nudging instead of the original's reflexes, per fans of the first game
  • No save system — progress lost on reinstall, per March and September reviews
  • Loot-box piñatas, a $9.99 ad removal and a reward-ad network that will not close

Verdict

A 6.1: a genuinely funny physics toy with a fair-by-mobile-standards shop, weighed down by two honest complaints — it is not the first Gumslinger, and it is not really multiplayer. Take it if you want Bowmasters with better ammunition and can laugh at a bot in a hat. Skip it if you loved the original's reflexes, or if progress that vanishes on reinstall is a dealbreaker.

Gameplay6A funny, well-made Bowmasters with better ammunition; the opponent is a bot in a hat.
Controls7Drag to aim, tap to fire, tap again for item effects — a tutorial with no learning curve, per a March review.
Replay value6Events, cards and worlds to unlock; no clans, no friendly duels and no real ladder.
Graphics & sound7Saturated jelly slapstick that fans love and one purist finds dull; piñata scenes lag.
Monetisation5Optional ads and fair unlocks, per fans — with piñata loot boxes and a $9.99 removal.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play Gumslinger 2 offline?

The store pages do not say. The duels are against AI, per a June 2026 review, which means they could run offline, but events, reward ads, the shop and the online-flavoured matchmaking need a connection, and there is no cloud save to protect progress either way. Test airplane mode after the tutorial.

2

Is Gumslinger 2 pay to win?

Against AI, there is nothing to win but unlocks: piñata loot boxes at $1.99 and $2.99, card packs at $0.99 and $2.99, a $2.99 gun, ticket bundles and a $9.99 ad removal, with items to $49.99 on Google Play. The most-voted App Store review calls the purchases optional and the early rewards generous. Prices vary by region.

3

What phone do you need for Gumslinger 2?

iOS 15.6 or newer with 562 MB free, or Android 7.0 or newer; Apple Silicon Macs run it. An August 2026 Play reviewer found graphics presets made no difference and piñata scenes lagged on a capable phone, so expect stutter in the reward animations rather than the duels.

4

Can you play Gumslinger 2 with friends?

Not really. The duels look like multiplayer but a June 2026 reviewer found the opponent is AI, and the store pages describe no friend battles, clans or local play; March and June reviews ask for exactly those. Events like the Gummy Bear Hunt are solo scoreboards.

5

How long does a Gumslinger 2 duel take?

A minute or two — turns alternate until one jelly figure is popped — and a session is a chain of duels through a world with piñatas between. Twelve worlds and 150-plus unlocks are the long game; without a save system, per September 2026 reviews, keep the app installed.
