About Order of Kings

Order of Kings is Dequ's real-time strategy MMO set in ancient China — troops with real attack ranges and collision volumes on 3D terrain where high ground, forests and chokepoints matter, and seasons that reset the map — free on iOS and Android since March 24, 2026 with loot boxes and Jade Coin packs to $99.99. Season 3 added weather and seven schools in August. The reviews praise the combat and object to everything around it: launch servers, a truce timer set for Asia, and phones that overheat.

Order of Kings Review: Real Ranges, Real Collisions, a Truce Timer Set for Asia

Not Another Tile Map: Terrain, Ranges and Collision

The pitch is that this strategy MMO fights differently: combat is fully real-time, archers suppress at range, cavalry flanks and kites, formations occupy real volume so a shield wall actually blocks, and the battlefield is 3D — forests hide troops, high ground gives vision and defence, chokepoints turn counterattacks. Commanders are the Warring States and Three Kingdoms cast, Lü Bu, Huang Zhong and Dong Zhuo on the screenshots, with Ying Zheng and Liu Xiu arriving in Season 3, Contention of Schools, which opened August 13, 2026 with the Luoyi scenario, seven schools, six unit types and a weather system from fog to sandstorm. Seasons reset the map and progress, which an April 21 Play four-star with five votes likes. A March 27 App Store four-star calls it a pretty traditional SLG with detailed graphics you cannot zoom into and top-tier character art, and praises instant building upgrades. Rated 9+ and Everyone 10+, in five languages.

Launch-Day Servers, a Truce for the Wrong Time Zone, and Forced PvP

The App Store's 39 ratings at 4.2 are weighted by launch week: March 24 through 27 one-stars report a game not ready at release, one server for a claimed 500,000 pre-registrations, and hours of being told a second was coming. The design complaints outlast them. The April 21 review's only downside is the truce period, timed to favour Asian countries; a May 1 App Store three-star calls the game amazing except that sieges happen while they sleep and the truce covers their waking day; an April 1 one-star is locked in a starting province with no English-speaking alliance and no way out. An April 16 Play three-star wanted Total War and found another war MMO with no full PvE mode and forced expansion against real players; a May 24 three-star finds it extremely fun and poorly optimised — bugs, regular crashes, overheating — and time-consuming for anyone who competes, unless an alliance lets you log in once a day. Ratings: 3.4 from 617 on Play with 10,000-plus installs.

Jade Coin From $4.99 to $99.99, Loot Boxes, and an iOS 9.3 Floor

Apple flags Loot Boxes and In-App Purchases; Google Play prices items from $4.99 to $99.99. The App Store's products are Jade Coin, the premium currency, in packs of 300 at $4.99, 600 at $9.99, 1,200 at $19.99, 2,080 at $34.99, 2,980 at $49.99 and 5,980 at $99.99 — a whale-shaped ladder with no starter tier. Neither store shows an advertising badge. Apple's tracking list is Identifiers linked to you; Google's data-safety card lists Personal info, Financial info and four other types collected. The requirements are the oddity: iOS 9.3 or newer, back to the iPhone 5S, against a 3 GB download, and Android 5.0 — while a May reviewer's modern phone overheated. Dequ Pte. Ltd. of Singapore publishes; version 1.0.24 on Android dates from August 7. Prices are regional.

Pros

  • Real-time battles with true ranges, terrain and collision — flank, kite and hold chokepoints
  • Seasons that reset the map, with weather, schools and new commanders in Season 3
  • Top-tier character art and instant building upgrades, per a March review
  • No ads on either store, unusual for a free war MMO
  • Extremely fun, per its own most critical May review

Cons

  • A truce timer that favours Asian time zones and hides sieges from Western players
  • Forced PvP expansion with no full PvE mode
  • Crashes, overheating and poor mobile optimisation, per a May review
  • Jade Coin packs from $4.99 to $99.99 with loot boxes, and a launch with one server

Verdict

A 6.1 for a war MMO with better battles than its rivals and worse timing: terrain, ranges and collision worth the download, wrapped in a truce schedule built for Asia, forced PvP and a phone that runs hot. Take it if you have an alliance in your time zone and want real-time tactics in the ancient-China genre. Skip it if you wanted Total War on a phone, or if sieges at 4 am are not a hobby.

Gameplay7Terrain and collision make the fights real; the game around them is a standard war MMO.
Controls6Real-time command on touch with no zoom into the detailed maps, per a March review.
Replay value6Seasons and factions for the committed; a truce that locks Western players out of the fun hours.
Graphics & sound7Detailed 3D battlefields and strong art; forgettable music and hot phones.
Monetisation4Loot boxes and a coin ladder that starts at $4.99 and ends at $99.99.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play Order of Kings offline?

No. It is a server-based war MMO with real players, alliances, seasons and a truce timer — the launch-week reviews were people waiting for a second server to open. There is no offline or single-player mode, and an April 2026 reviewer's main complaint is that there is no full PvE mode either.

2

Is Order of Kings pay to win?

It sells Jade Coin from $4.99 to $99.99 with loot boxes flagged by Apple, in a genre where spending builds armies faster; the reviews do not single out pay-to-win, focusing instead on the truce timer, forced PvP and optimisation. A May 2026 reviewer says competing takes time more than anything. Prices vary by region.

3

What phone do you need for Order of Kings?

The listings say iOS 9.3 or newer and Android 5.0 — floors from a decade ago — with a 3 GB download; the reviews say something else: regular crashes and overheating on a modern phone in May 2026. Treat a recent mid-range device as the practical minimum, and expect heat in big battles.

4

Can you play Order of Kings with friends?

Yes, if you start together: alliances and factions are the whole game, and an April 2026 review warns that your starting province is permanent — friends who spawn elsewhere stay elsewhere, and some provinces have no English-speaking alliance. Coordinate before anyone taps Start.

5

How much time does Order of Kings take?

A lot if you compete, per a May 2026 reviewer — sieges, marches and alliance events on the server's clock — or a daily check-in if your alliance carries you. The truce timer decides when war happens, and for Western players it happens while they sleep, per April and May reviews.
