About Projeto Relo Pipa

Projeto Relo Pipa is a Brazilian open-world kite-fighting sandbox from Ricardo Pimentel Martins' RickGames: fly a pipa over a favela-style neighbourhood, cut rival lines, chase falling kites through streets with NPCs and vehicles, all offline. It is free with ads, no purchases and no data collected, on Android 8.1 or newer, and has passed a million installs. The one thing every review asks for is online multiplayer, and it still is not there.

Projeto Relo Pipa Review: A Million Kite Fighters Waiting for Online

Fly, Cut, Chase — an Offline Sandbox Built Around Brazilian Kite Fighting

The listing describes it plainly: an open-world kite game made in a sandbox, offline style, with freedom to explore and interact with NPCs, vehicles and objects, and challenges to find. The sport is pipa — kite fighting with abrasive line — and the loop is fly, cut the rival's line, then run the streets to catch the falling kite before someone else does. Players have followed it since a 2019 YouTube prototype, per a September 2025 review with 283 votes, and creator videos have reach — a CH4P4X episode about cutting a kite full of line has 1.37 million views. RickGames also makes Mestre do Relo, and the most-voted review of all, 689 votes from March 2025, asks why two near-identical games exist when this one adds maps and a new line system.

What 125 Reviews in Four Languages Keep Asking For

We read 125 Google Play reviews in Portuguese, Spanish, Indonesian and English; 88 are five stars, 13 are one or two. Online play with friends leads: reviews with 158, 110, 82 and 48 votes from 2025 and a January 2026 one-star all say the game lacks only multiplayer; the 158-vote one ranks it top three among kite games, first if online arrives. Line running out too fast is second — an 85-vote review from June 2025 and a July 2025 one with 124 votes both want longer line and a way to cut bots from a distance. Then custom kite prints from the phone gallery, bigger São Paulo maps, motorbikes for the chase, and unlocking the cars and a locked character. The technical complaints are specific: a camera control a November 2025 player calls bad, a game that starts stuttering after 15–20 minutes in an August 2026 three-star review, and a 34-vote April 2025 report of deformed graphics.

Free, Ads Only, Nothing Collected — and 1.2 Since March

The business model is the simplest on the store: free, an advertising badge, no in-app purchases, and a data-safety card that declares nothing collected and nothing shared — a June 2026 reviewer's only wish is to be able to buy kites at all. It runs on Android 8.1 or newer, rated Everyone, in English-language listing text with the game's audience overwhelmingly Portuguese-speaking; there is no iOS version and no sign of one. Version 1.2 arrived on March 17, 2026 with performance fixes as the whole changelog, after 1.0 in late 2025 and 1.1 around the turn of the year. A million-plus installs is the number to hold onto: that is the size of a community sustained by a solo Brazilian developer with a Gmail support address, and it is the reason the multiplayer requests carry so many votes.

Pros

  • Free with ads only — no purchases and no data collected
  • Fully offline open-world kite fighting with NPCs, vehicles and street chases
  • A million-plus installs and 88 of 125 reviews at five stars
  • Graphics options that players on low-end phones praise
  • Followed since a 2019 prototype, with a creator scene in the millions of views

Cons

  • No online or multiplayer, the request in nearly every review since 2025
  • Line runs out too fast and bots cannot be cut from a distance
  • Camera control criticised and stuttering after 15–20 minutes reported
  • Android only, one map region, and a near-identical sibling game

Verdict

A 6.2: the kite-fighting sandbox a million Brazilian, Venezuelan and Indonesian players actually use, free, offline and honest about money — and stuck on the same request for two years. Take it if you fly pipas and want the chase on your phone. Skip it if you expect to fight anyone but bots, or if a bad camera and fast-draining line will spoil it.

Gameplay6Kite fighting and street chases in an open neighbourhood; bots only, and the line economy frustrates.
Controls5Kite handling works for the sport's fans; the camera is the reviews' technical complaint.
Replay value5A sandbox players return to for years, yet without online or new maps the loop is the same fights.
Graphics & sound6Praised as good for a small game, with settings for weak phones; a 34-vote report of deformed rendering.
Monetisation8Free, ads only, no shop, nothing collected — players ask to be allowed to spend.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play Projeto Relo Pipa offline?

Yes — offline play is in the listing's own description, and Indonesian reviewers from October 2025 and April 2026 confirm it runs without Wi-Fi, one playing through a power cut. Only the ads need a connection. There is no online mode at all, which is the community's main complaint rather than a limitation of offline play.

2

Is Projeto Relo Pipa free?

Yes. It is free with advertising and has no in-app purchases — Google Play lists none, and a June 2026 reviewer asks for the option to buy kites because there is nothing to buy. The data-safety card declares no data collected. There is no premium version and no iOS release to price differently.

3

What phone do you need for Projeto Relo Pipa?

Android 8.1 or newer; Google Play does not list a download size. Reviews praise the graphics options for weaker phones, and Indonesian players run it on budget devices. The known performance issue is stuttering after 15–20 minutes of play, reported in August 2026 on version 1.2. There is no iPhone version.

4

Can you play Projeto Relo Pipa with friends?

No. Every fight is against bots, and online play with friends is the single most requested feature — reviews with 158, 110, 82 and 48 votes ask for it, and a January 2026 one-star review exists only to demand it. A solo developer has not announced a date, so treat multiplayer as absent rather than coming.

5

How long is Projeto Relo Pipa?

There is no campaign to finish: it is a sandbox of kite fights, chases and challenges in one neighbourhood, and players who have followed it since 2019 still play. Sessions are short by nature — a fight, a chase, a new kite — with the line running out fast enough that reviewers ask for more of it per flight.
