NetEase Games and developer Naked Rain set Ananta's worldwide release for January 15, 2027, on iOS, Android, PlayStation 5 and PC, free to play, during gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25. The urban open-world RPG has passed 17 million pre-registrations across 110 countries since its 2023 reveal, and the new trailer showed the city as a playground: cars, motorbikes, skateboards and NPC interactions.
What was announced
The date came on stage at gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, when NetEase Games confirmed January 15, 2027 for all four platforms at once — no staggered mobile launch. The accompanying trailer leaned on the game's tone rather than combat: freeform exploration of a modern metropolis, a soundtrack borrowing from the film Chungking Express, a skyline that includes Shanghai's Oriental Pearl Tower, and the player switching between cars, motorbikes and a skateboard.
Ananta casts the player as an agent investigating anomalies and supernatural incidents in the city, teaming up with companions to resolve events across districts from business centres to back alleys. Naked Rain, with studios in Hangzhou and Montreal, describes the city as "a massive playground" rather than a backdrop, with daily city life feeding the systems.
Pre-registration, open on the App Store, Google Play and the game's site, stood at more than 17 million at the time of the announcement.
What it means for players
The mobile version launches day and date with PS5 and PC, which is unusual for a NetEase title of this scale and means phone players get the same content window as console players. Free to play with no announced price means the usual model — a character gacha — though NetEase has not detailed the monetisation. Cross-progression between phone and PS5 or PC has not been confirmed either; a single account across platforms is standard for NetEase's recent releases, but until the studio says so, treat it as unannounced.
January 15 puts Ananta three weeks after the holiday rush. For a phone, the trailer's dense city suggests the same hardware ceiling as Genshin Impact or Wuthering Waves: recent flagships for the top settings, mid-range devices on reduced ones.
What happens next
NetEase has not announced a further beta before launch. Pre-registration continues until January 15, and any tier rewards are credited at launch. The next reveal point is likely a launch trailer and system requirements in December.
