Flexibits released Fantastical for Googlebook on October 5, putting its calendar on a non-Apple platform for the second time after Windows. The company was blunt about the limit in the same post: this build does not support Android phones, foldables or tablets, and it has no date for when it will.

What was announced

Flexibits announced the launch on its own blog on October 5. Fantastical, until now a Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple Vision Pro and Windows app, now also runs on Googlebook.

The company says the features were rebuilt for the platform rather than ported as a shell. Named in the announcement: natural-language event entry, so typing a plain sentence with a day and a time creates the event; the full set of views — task, day, week, month, quarter and year; and syncing of Google, Microsoft and Todoist tasks into the same schedule, with conference-call links opened from the event.

Pricing follows the rest of the range. Fantastical for Googlebook is included in a Flexibits Premium subscription at no extra cost, and it is also free to use without one, with the basic calendar.

The footnote is the news for phone owners. Flexibits states plainly that the Googlebook version does not support Android phones, foldables or tablets, and that bringing Fantastical to those devices is something it wants to do "as soon as possible" — with no date attached.

What it means for players

If you run a mixed set of devices, this closes one gap and leaves a bigger one open. A Flexibits Premium subscription now covers Apple hardware, Windows and Googlebook, so the calendar follows you across a desk — but your Android phone still cannot open it.

That matters because a calendar is a phone-first app for most people. Until an Android phone build exists, a Premium subscriber on Android is paying for a calendar that runs everywhere except the device in their pocket.

For anyone inside the Apple range, nothing changes: the apps and the subscription are what they were.

What happens next

Flexibits points to its mailing list for the Android phone, foldable and tablet announcement, and has published help documents for the Googlebook version. No release window has been given.
