Epic put Kingdom Hearts into Fortnite on September 17 with the v42.20 update: Sora, Kairi, Riku and Roxas as outfits, a mythic Kingdom Key keyblade in matches with the Level Up Override modifier, and a cup on September 18 that handed Sora out free to high placements. The whole set rotates out of the Item Shop on October 1, which makes this a deadline rather than an announcement.
What was announced
The crossover went live on September 17 with update v42.20, called Override. Four outfits came with it: Sora at 1,800 V-Bucks, and Kairi, Riku and Roxas at 1,600 each, with a bundle of the set at 4,500.
In matches, the Kingdom Key appears as a mythic weapon, but not from chests: it spawns through the Level Up Override match modifier, granting one to each squad member at their position.
The free route was a one-day event. The Kingdom Hearts Cup on September 18 — solo, across Battle Royale, Zero Build or Reload — gave the Sora outfit to players finishing in the top 1,000 in Europe or top 700 in NA Central, with a Glowing Keyhole spray for anyone who scored eight points.
All of the cosmetics leave the Item Shop on October 1.
What it means for players
The cup has passed, so the outfits are now a purchase, and the October 1 date is the part to act on: Fortnite collaboration cosmetics have no announced return, and Epic has left past crossovers out of rotation for a year or more. If the bundle is wanted, it is wanted before then.
The Kingdom Key is the opposite case — a match item tied to a modifier, not something you can buy or keep. It is in the loot pool only while the Override modifier is running, so it disappears with the event regardless of what you own.
For phone players the collaboration is unchanged in content: Fortnite on Android and the browser runs the same shop and the same modifier, and cosmetics are tied to the Epic account rather than the device.
What happens next
Items rotate out of the shop on October 1. Epic has not said whether any of the four outfits return, and has not announced the next crossover of the season.
