HoYoverse's Version 7.1, A Rekviem for the Underworld, launches on September 23, and the sixth anniversary on September 28 comes with it: 1,600 Primogems and ten Intertwined Fates split between the mail and a seven-day login, plus two 5-star character selectors — one from the standard pool, one from six limited characters. New 5-stars Vesna and Vodyanitsa headline the first banner phase.
What was announced
According to the Version 7.1 preview program, streamed by HoYoverse on September 12, and the benefits overview on the official site, the dates are set: September 23 for the update, September 28 for the anniversary. The version runs through early November.
Anniversary rewards arrive in two parts. A seven-day login gives 10 Intertwined Fates, 80,000 Mora, 8 Hero's Wit and a Dust of Enlightenment. In-game mail, valid for 30 days after September 28, delivers 1,600 Primogems, 2 Fragile Resin, a Sanctifying Elixir, the companion Conductor of the "Ya-ho" and a gadget called A Mini Trolley Problem. Together that is twenty free pulls, and the Genesis Crystal first-top-up bonus resets.
Then the selectors. A standard 5-star selector offers Jean, Diluc, Qiqi, Mona, Keqing, Tighnari, Dehya or Yumemizuki Mizuki. A limited 5-star selector, unlocked after finishing the 7.1 Archon Quest, offers Baizhu, Nilou, Varesa, Tartaglia, Chiori or Clorinde.
Phase one banners (September 23 – October 13) debut two Snezhnayan 5-stars: Vesna, an Anemo sword main DPS built around the Stellar-Swirl reaction, and Vodyanitsa, a Hydro catalyst healer who enables off-field damage, with their signature weapons Beyond the Chrysalis and Hymn of the Maelstrom. Phase two (October 13 – November 3) reruns Skirk and Escoffier. The story continues the Snezhnaya arc across three Archon Quests and sets up Dainsleif against Ronova.
What it means for players
Twenty free pulls and two guaranteed 5-stars is the most generous anniversary Genshin Impact has run, and none of it needs spending — but two conditions matter. The limited selector is gated behind the 7.1 Archon Quest, so a returning player has story to clear first. And the mail expires 30 days after September 28: log in by late October or lose the Primogems.
For the selector choice, Clorinde and Varesa are the on-field damage picks; Baizhu is the healer that ages well; Tartaglia is the one to take if you already run a Hydro-hungry team.
What happens next
Livestream redemption codes expired on September 15, so the next free Primogems are the September 28 mail. Four events run inside 7.1, including a Liyue Moonchase mini-game event that hands out the 4-star sword Silver Light and a double-artifact-drop window. Version 7.2 details usually come with a livestream about ten days before the phase-two switch on October 13.
