The Witcher 3 Remastered Arrives as a Free Upgrade
CD Projekt Red's remaster of The Witcher 3 lands on September 29, and the studio announced it as a free upgrade for everyone who already owns the game
Minecraft is getting a new dimension for the first time in over fourteen years, and phones are last in the queue. The Sift was revealed at Minecraft Live on September 26 and arrives first inside Minecraft Dungeons II, which launches September 29 on consoles and PC. Java and Bedrock — the edition that runs on Android and iPhone — get it in 2027, with no month attached.
Mojang used Minecraft Live on September 26 to reveal The Sift, a new dimension for Minecraft and the first the game has added since the Nether and the End were joined by nothing at all for more than fourteen years.
The announcement on Xbox Wire describes two named biomes, Meadows and Carapace, along with new mobs, hazardous blocks and exploration rules that differ from the overworld. Mojang's own framing is that the place has "new rules to learn" and a colour palette unlike anything already in the game.
The route in is the part that matters. The Sift appears first in Minecraft Dungeons II, the action spin-off launching on September 29 for Xbox Series X and S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. The studio's line is that the best way to find out more about the dimension is to play Dungeons II, which gives players a taste of its mobs, blocks and biomes.
Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition get The Sift in 2027. Mojang has not narrowed that down.
Bedrock is the edition that runs on Android and iPhone, so the mobile version is on the 2027 side of that split. Dungeons II is not a mobile release, which leaves phone players with no way to see the new dimension this year at all — the wait is roughly a year longer than for anyone holding a console.
That gap is unusual for Minecraft. Java and Bedrock updates normally arrive within weeks of each other, and Bedrock has carried the same content as the desktop edition for years. Here the content lands in a separate paid game first, and the free update to the game people already own follows much later.
For anyone playing on a phone the practical answer is that nothing changes now. The current version is unaffected, no update is pending, and the first look at The Sift on mobile will be a 2027 release Mojang has not dated.
Dungeons II ships on September 29, which is when the dimension becomes playable for the first time anywhere. Mojang says more details about how The Sift works inside Minecraft itself will come at future Minecraft Live events rather than in a patch note.
The open question is what form the 2027 update takes on Bedrock: a full drop, a staged rollout, or an experimental toggle first. Mojang has said nothing about which, and until it does, the only firm date on the board is the one for a game that does not run on phones.
In 2027, with no month announced. Mobile runs Bedrock Edition, and Mojang says Java and Bedrock both get the new dimension next year. The only 2026 access is through Minecraft Dungeons II, which is not released on phones.
Two named biomes, Meadows and Carapace, plus new mobs, hazardous blocks and exploration rules that work differently from the overworld. Mojang describes it as a place with a different look and its own rules rather than a variant of existing terrain.
To see it in 2026, yes. Dungeons II is a separate paid game launching September 29 on Xbox, PlayStation 5 and Switch, and it is where The Sift appears first. The dimension reaches the main game as a free update in 2027.
