Two Cosy PC Games Reached Phones This Week, One Needs a Sub

Two small PC games landed on phones in the past week. Urban Jungle, the plant-arranging puzzle from Assemble Entertainment, went up on September 16, free to download at 230 MB. Cuisineer, the dungeon-crawling restaurant roguelite, arrived on September 15 through Crunchyroll's Game Vault — free on the store page, but playable only with a Mega or Ultimate Fan membership.

What was announced

Urban Jungle reached iOS and Android on September 16, published by Assemble Entertainment. It is a decorating puzzle rather than a management sim: you place plants around an apartment to make it as green and comfortable as possible, with no watering, no pests and no fail state — every plant simply works better in some spots than others, and there is a cat to pet. The download is 230 MB and needs iOS 15 or later; it was updated again on September 21.

Cuisineer arrived a day earlier, on September 15, as Crunchyroll: Cuisineer. It mixes a fast action roguelite with restaurant management: Pom returns to her hometown of Paell to find the family restaurant in debt, so she raids dungeons for ingredients by day and serves them to customers after. The store page is free, but the listing states plainly that a Crunchyroll Mega or Ultimate Fan membership is required. The install is 2.6 GB.

What it means for players

The contrast is the story here. Both are ports of PC games that reviewed well, both are listed at no price, and only one is actually free: Urban Jungle is a straight download, while Cuisineer is the subscription model that Netflix popularised — games included with a streaming plan, gone when the plan lapses.

For anyone already paying for Crunchyroll at the Mega tier, Cuisineer costs nothing extra and is one of the better games in that catalogue. For anyone who is not, the maths is a monthly fee against a one-off PC price.

Urban Jungle is the easier recommendation on a phone: 230 MB, no timers, no currency, and a design that suits short sessions. Cuisineer is the heavier game in every sense — a 2.6 GB install and an action roguelite that wants precise input on a touchscreen.

What happens next

Neither publisher has announced further content. Crunchyroll's Game Vault adds titles periodically and removes them without notice, which is the risk that comes with the model.
