Once two people exchange a mutual Bump, Bumpy makes chat, audio and video calls and its AutoTranslator free, so a French message arrives with an English line underneath. Discovery runs on a world Map and a continent picker, with local dating as just one option, and the app comes from Bumpy Inc. The main limit is rationing: Hellos, Likes and profile reveals are capped, and ads fill the gaps.

Bumpy Review: Free Chat Across Borders, but Every Like Is Rationed

50 Hellos Every 12 Hours: Where the Free Tier Ends

A free account can send 50 Hellos every 12 hours, the developer says in its Google Play replies, and a mutual Bump then opens messaging, audio and video calls and translation at no cost. Likes you receive show up in the Reactions list, but incoming Hellos stay blurred; the free Reveal that uncovers one sender costs an ad and, by July 2026, resets every hour instead of every 12. Sending extra Likes also means watching ads, and the Play listing carries the Contains ads badge. In August 2026 reviews, people describe ads interrupting searches and open chats, while the developer answers that Bumpy Gold removes them.

AutoTranslator and the Map: Features Built for Distance

AutoTranslator prints a translation under each chat message; in the store screenshots, a French line from a match named Leon arrives with its English version beneath it. The developer claims more than 100 languages, though an April 2026 reviewer still kept a separate translation app open for confusing phrases. Profiles cannot be screenshotted, a privacy rule that also blocks pasting a profile into another translator. Discovery also runs through a Map tab with profile pins and a Show me on Map button, listed by the developer as free, plus a choice of six continents or local dating. The US App Store lists one month of Bumpy Gold at $9.99 and a year at $59.99, plus three- and six-month Bumpy Plus plans at $23.99 and $38.99. Google Play shows in-app items from $0.99 to $79.99, and Android reviewers in 2026 quote weekly plans around $12 to $14. Check the current price in the app; it varies by region. Gold removes ads and lifts the Hello cap, but developer replies confirm it includes three Likes a day; more come in packs, such as 25 for $15.99, and Boosts run from $1.99 for one to $49.99 for 50. There is no free trial, and several paying reviewers say incoming Likes dropped after subscribing.

Shadow-Restriction, Wonder Cross-Listing and Face Templates

It scores 6.2 because the core idea works without paying: a mutual Bump opens free chat, calls and translation with someone on another continent, and the Map makes that the starting point. Take it if you want a long-distance or cross-cultural match and can tolerate ads. Skip it if you plan to pay for visibility, since Gold still caps Likes at three a day, the terms allow silent restrictions, and reviewers keep reporting money requests.
