About FollowMyHealth

FollowMyHealth is a free patient portal from Veradigm, formerly Allscripts, with no ads or in-app purchases. It shows the records, messages, appointments and bills your clinic publishes, and one account can link several organizations that use the platform. The limit is that your provider decides what appears, and several health systems have moved patients to Epic's MyChart. Check which features your own clinic supports before relying on it.

FollowMyHealth Review: Free and Ad-Free, but Your Clinic Decides What Works

Free, With No Ads: What Your Clinic Has to Switch On First

Patients pay nothing. Neither store listing shows ads or in-app purchases, and the terms of use allow fees for specific services, such as faxing, only after you agree to them. What you can do depends on the provider: each organization connects its own records, and the App Store listing notes that some features depend on the organizations you connect. Messages are not real-time, and the terms say to call 911 in an emergency. Corrections also go through the clinic, because the help center says FollowMyHealth support cannot edit your chart; a wrong allergy or weight has to be fixed by the provider's office.

My Health, Export by Email or Fax, and Apple Health Links

My Health is the records screen, split into Allergies, Conditions, Documents, Immunizations, Medications, Results and Vitals. Its Export icon sends records or clinical documents by email or fax, after a warning that the service is not responsible for a copy once it is sent. The phone app cannot print, so paper copies mean printing that email or using a computer. Where a provider has enabled the FHIR API, you can approve outside apps such as Apple Health, choosing which data types each one sees, and cut them off later with Remove Connection under My Account > Connections. On iPhone, blood pressure, steps, weight and glucose readings can be imported from Apple Health. Entries you add yourself stay visible only to you, a developer reply on Google Play says.

Play Lists Health Data, Apple Lists None, and a 2019 Privacy Policy

Google Play's Data safety form says nothing is shared with third parties and data is encrypted in transit. It lists name, email and phone as collected, plus optional address, health info, messages and sexual orientation, and device IDs for analytics. Apple's label for the same app says no data is collected. The privacy policy, last modified in November 2019 and still in Allscripts' name, allows marketing use of personal health record data and the sale of de-identified data, but not of identifiable data without consent. Two-factor codes are optional; three wrong codes lock the account for five minutes. In September 2026, Veradigm disclosed that a vendor's stolen credentials were used to copy patient details, including some Social Security numbers, through a customer-service API; it said clinical data was not involved and did not name this app.

Session-Expired Errors and Clinics Moving to MyChart

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare moved patients to MyChart on March 1, 2025 and kept its old portals read-only for one month, while EVMS Medical Group switched in June 2025 and told patients to download older records from FollowMyHealth. Since March 2026, Play reviews have also described sign-in loops that end in a session-expired message, a slowdown starting in May, and push notifications that never arrive. Developer replies suggest reinstalling, turning off VPN or antivirus software, and calling a support line. The App Store history shows nine updates between January and September 2026 with the same generic release note each time.

Pros

  • No ads and no in-app purchases on Google Play or the App Store
  • My Health splits records into seven sections, from Allergies to Vitals
  • Export sends records or clinical documents by email or fax
  • One account can connect several organizations that use the platform
  • FHIR links to apps like Apple Health can be revoked under Connections
  • Optional two-factor codes by email, text or an authenticator app

Cons

  • Features depend on your clinic, and several health systems have moved to MyChart
  • 2026 reviews describe session-expired sign-in loops and missing push notifications
  • The phone app cannot print, and self-entered data stays invisible to providers
  • Apple's no-data-collected label conflicts with Play's list that includes health info

Verdict

We score it 6.9: a free, ad-free portal whose records, messaging, export and app links work once a clinic switches them on, held back by sign-in complaints and conflicting privacy disclosures. Take it if your provider invites you and you want results, refill requests and bills in one place. Think twice if you need dependable access during ongoing treatment or your clinic has announced a move to MyChart, and export your records first. Check the details with your own provider.

Core function7.0Records, messaging, refills, bills and export are there, but each clinic decides which features you actually get.
Ease of use6.0Records sort by category rather than by doctor, printing needs a computer, and entries come from fixed lists.
Monetisation9.0Free with no ads or in-app purchases; the terms allow fees for specific services only with your consent.
Performance6.0Nine iOS updates in 2026, yet reviews describe session-expired loops and a slowdown since May.
Privacy & permissions6.0Optional two-factor codes, but conflicting store labels and a 2019 policy allowing marketing use of health record data.

Frequently asked questions

1

Is FollowMyHealth free?

Yes. Patients pay nothing to download or use it, and neither store lists ads or in-app purchases. The terms of use allow fees for specific services, such as faxing, only after you agree to pay. Which features appear depends on your clinic, so check with its office what it has enabled.

2

How do I get my records out of FollowMyHealth?

Open My Health and tap the Export icon to send health records or clinical documents by email or fax. The phone app cannot print, so print the emailed copy or sign in on a computer. Where your provider enables FHIR access, you can also approve apps such as Apple Health and revoke them later under My Account > Connections.

3

Are there any hidden costs in FollowMyHealth?

Not from Veradigm at present: there is no subscription or premium tier, and the terms say you will not be charged for access without agreeing first. Amounts on the Bills screen, under Unpaid, Pending and Paid tabs, are your provider's charges for care, and visit fees follow each clinic's own policies, so confirm them with the office.

4

What happens to my FollowMyHealth records if my doctor switches portals?

Your account stays, but new records stop arriving. The terms say a provider can end its connection without notice while you keep access to the account. Tallahassee Memorial left its old portal read-only for one month in 2025, so export your records by email as soon as a switch is announced. You can delete the account under My Account > Preferences.

5

Is FollowMyHealth better than MyChart?

You rarely get to choose, because each app shows only what your provider's system sends it. MyChart, from Epic Systems, works where a hospital or clinic runs Epic, and athenaPatient, from athenahealth, is only for patients whose providers ask them to use it.
