About Doctor On Demand

Doctor On Demand is Included Health's video-visit app for urgent care, therapy and psychiatry with U.S.-licensed clinicians. Urgent care runs 24/7 without an appointment, mental health visits are booked ahead, and insurance is optional: self-pay medical visits are $99 for 15 minutes. The limits are firm: no controlled substances, no phone-only consultations and no visits abroad or in Puerto Rico and Guam.

Doctor On Demand Review: 24/7 Doctors, Strict Rules on Fees and Prescriptions

$99 for 15 minutes: what self-pay buys and when the clock restarts

Without coverage, an everyday or urgent care visit is $99 for 15 minutes, therapy with a psychologist $134 for 25 minutes or $184 for 50, and psychiatry $299 for a 45-minute first consult and $129 per 15-minute follow-up. At the 13-minute mark of a medical visit, the app offers 15 more minutes, billed as a second visit at the same rate. Included Health calls the service a covered benefit for over 98 million Americans, and Medicare Part B covers visits; virtual primary care is open only to members of participating plans and employers. Check coverage and current prices in the app or with your health plan before booking; both vary and can change.

Get Care queue: 24/7 urgent visits and the 24-hour cancellation rule

Get Care puts you in line for the next available clinician at any hour. Therapy and psychiatry must be booked, typically one to two days out, with a clinician licensed in your state chosen from written bios. The service is for non-emergency care; the company points emergencies to 911 or the 988 crisis line. It needs 3 Mbps down and 1.5 Mbps up; a shaky call can drop to audio only, but phone-only visits are not offered. Of the 199 newest Google Play reviews (May to September 2026), 48 gave one or two stars, seven over waits far past the estimate. Five described missed-appointment charges after the app failed to connect; the terms allow a fee of up to the full price unless a scheduled visit is canceled 24 hours ahead.

Data safety vs. App Privacy: precise location and tracking identifiers

Google Play's Data safety form declares no sharing with third parties. It lists approximate and precise location, name, address and phone number, plus optional health, payment and photo data, encrypted in transit and deletable on request. Apple's App Privacy label reads differently: identifiers may be used to track you across other companies' apps and websites, and contact details and sensitive info appear under the developer's own advertising or marketing. Included Health's privacy policy of February 1, 2026 says it does not sell member data or give health information to data brokers or ad platforms, though some cookie and analytics tools may count as a sale under state law. We do not call this safe; these are the company's own declarations.

Chatbots and LLMs: zero data retention and a randomized study with Google

Included Health's terms, effective March 9, 2026, say some features send what you type or upload to third-party large language models, naming OpenAI, Anthropic and Google, under zero-data-retention agreements that bar training on it. Members are told when they are talking to a chatbot and can ask for a human. On February 3, 2026, Google Research announced a nationwide randomized study of conversational AI in virtual care with Included Health, with consented participants and pending ethics board approval; the website now invites eligible patients to join with a free urgent care visit, normally $99. Six of the 199 newest Play reviews object to the AI or the support chatbot.

Pros

  • Urgent care runs 24/7/365 with no appointment through Get Care
  • Self-pay prices are published: $99 medical, $134 therapy, $299 psychiatry intake
  • No subscription or membership; covered members can pay $0
  • You choose your therapist from state-licensed profiles with written bios
  • A weak connection can switch the visit to audio-only mid-call
  • ASL and spoken-language interpreters for scheduled medical visits via Google Meet

Cons

  • No controlled substances, including stimulant ADHD medication and gabapentin
  • Missing the 24-hour cancellation window can cost up to the full visit price
  • Extending a 15-minute medical visit is billed as a second visit
  • Recent Play reviews report waits past the estimate and failed visit joins

Verdict

We score Doctor On Demand 7.3. Round-the-clock urgent care without an appointment, therapists you choose yourself and published self-pay prices make it a capable telehealth service, but the 15-minute billing unit, the 24-hour cancellation fee and recent reports of failed visit joins hold it back. Take it if your health plan or employer covers it, or you need a non-emergency visit at night. Look elsewhere if you need controlled medication, phone-only visits or care outside the U.S.

Core function8.524/7 urgent care, booked therapy and psychiatry, labs and doctor's notes; no controlled substances and no visits outside the U.S.
Ease of use7.5Get Care queues you in one tap and therapists show bios; reviews cite log-in loops and wait estimates that slip.
Monetisation6.5No membership, but $99 buys 15 minutes, overruns bill a second visit and late cancellations can cost the full price.
Performance6.0Weekly updates, yet recent Play reviews report failed visit joins, log-in loops and queue times far above the estimate.
Privacy & permissions7.0No third-party sharing declared on Play and HITRUST cited, but Apple's label lists tracking identifiers, and some features use outside LLMs.

Frequently asked questions

1

Is Doctor On Demand free without insurance?

No. The app and account are free and there is no membership, but every visit is paid, starting at $99 for a 15-minute medical visit and $134 for a 25-minute therapy session. Through a participating health plan or employer, the same visit can cost $0. The app shows the exact price before you book, and prices can change.

2

Can Doctor On Demand prescribe medication?

Yes, within limits. A clinician can send a prescription to the pharmacy you choose when they judge it appropriate, and order lab tests, with results back within ten business days. The service prescribes no DEA Schedule I to V controlled substances, which rules out stimulant ADHD drugs and gabapentin, and refills cover only its own prescriptions.

3

How much does Doctor On Demand psychiatry cost?

Without coverage, the first psychiatry consult is $299 for 45 minutes and each 15-minute follow-up is $129; a 50-minute therapy session is $184. Insurance or an employer benefit can bring that to $0. A scheduled visit canceled less than 24 hours ahead can still be charged. Prices depend on your plan and can change.

4

Can I delete my Doctor On Demand account?

Yes, by request through the member portal's chat or open-case feature, or by emailing Included Health's privacy team; consumer requests get an answer within 45 days, extendable to 90. Clinical records follow federal and state retention rules, so visit history can outlast the account. Save your visit notes first from the website's My Health menu, under Visits.

5

Is Doctor On Demand cheaper than Teladoc or MDLIVE?

Not for self-pay urgent care. Doctor On Demand charges $99 for a 15-minute medical visit; Teladoc Health lists $89 for urgent care, and MDLIVE lists $0 to $89 and also offers phone visits. For mental health, Teladoc's $119 visit undercuts the $134 therapy session here. Prices vary by region and can change.
