About KineMaster - AI Video Editor

KineMaster burns its logo into the top-right corner of every free export, and only Premium removes it: $8.99 a month or $59.99 a year on the developer's May 2026 list in US dollars. Everything else is free, including multi-layer editing, 4K export at 60 fps and nine AI tools that run on the phone. The catch is hardware: layer counts, 4K editing and AI tools depend on your device, and free users see ads.

KineMaster Review: Every Tool Is Free, the Watermark Is Not

Free vs Premium: a burned-in top-right logo and the $59.99 fix

The developer's December 2025 comparison table gives free users every editing tool, templates, auto captions, stickers, music and 4K exports at 60 fps. Premium adds four things: no ads, no watermark, cloud backups and private sharing. TechRadar described a relatively large watermark at top right, and Play reviews from 2019 to September 2026 complain that it covers on-screen text. CapCut makes its mark a deletable end clip and InShot drops it after one ad; here there is no free route, and the terms of service forbid covering it. Premium assets are the other line: a video that uses them cannot be saved without a subscription. September 2026 reviews in three languages report effects such as fisheye and wave distortion moving behind Premium.

Nine on-device AI tools and the 4 GB RAM cutoff

The feature pages list nine AI tools, among them Magic Remover for cutting a person out of the background, Super Resolution with 2x or 4x upscaling, Auto Captions in 36 languages and Text-to-Speech in 19, each marked free for all users. Processing stays on the device, so footage is not uploaded, and Auto Captions works offline once its language pack is downloaded. The limit is hardware: the help center says a phone needs at least 4 GB of RAM, or some AI tools may not appear. Noise Remover needs a plug-in from the Asset Store, Music Match a one-time plug-in download, and a few AI Style packs require Premium to save.

4K at 60 fps, if Device Performance Analysis agrees

Export runs from SD through 720p and 1080p to 4K (3840 x 2160) at up to 60 fps, in H.264 or H.265 with an adjustable bitrate, saved as .mp4 or .gif. Settings contains a Device Performance Analysis that reports the highest resolution and the number of layers your hardware supports, and on Android the help center warns that recording 4K does not guarantee editing it. Video layers above that limit show dark slashed lines until you transcode them to a lower resolution, a step that 2026 reviewers in Portuguese and Spanish resent for clips shot on the same phone. Marketing promises unlimited layers; the multi-layer FAQ concedes the practical limit depends on the processor.

75,000 assets, five ad networks and the template license

The Asset Store holds 75,000+ assets across 10,000+ packs, and the help center clears them for commercial use, monetized YouTube included, with two conditions: music claims from Source Audio are resolved by registering your channel in the app, and assets cannot be moved into other software. The privacy policy, updated November 2025, names Meta, AdMob, Pangle, InMobi and Digital Turbine as processors that serve and measure ads from usage data, though not for subscribers. Google Play's data safety section reports no data shared but lists device IDs collected for advertising. Templates you upload for other members, through Mix for example, grant the developer a worldwide license to reproduce, modify and redistribute them under terms effective January 12, 2026.

Pros

  • Every editing tool, 4K export at 60 fps and auto captions are free
  • Nine AI tools run on-device at no cost, including captions in 36 languages
  • Asset Store's 75,000+ assets are cleared for monetized YouTube videos
  • One Premium subscription covers up to five Android and iOS devices
  • Premium includes the paid tier of the companion Spring editor

Cons

  • The top-right watermark is burned in, and only Premium removes it
  • Free-tier ads run long and can be hard to close, per 2026 reviews
  • 4K editing, layer count and AI tools all depend on device hardware
  • Uninstalling deletes every project unless you exported .kine backups first

Verdict

We scored it 7.3. Free multi-layer editing, 4K export at 60 fps and nine on-device AI tools earn the Core function mark; a burned-in watermark, long ads and device-gated 4K pull Monetisation and Performance down. Take it if you edit on a recent phone with at least 4 GB of RAM and accept the logo, or will pay $59.99 a year. Skip it if you need watermark-free exports without paying, edit on an older phone, or want a lifetime license.

Core function8.5Multi-layer timeline, keyframes, chroma key, 4K 60 fps export and nine free on-device AI tools.
Ease of use7.5Portrait and landscape editing both work, but transcode prompts and aspect-locked scaling frustrate 2026 reviewers.
Monetisation6.0Tools are free, but the watermark is burned in, ads run long and some effects need Premium.
Performance6.5Device checks gate 4K and layers, AI needs 4 GB of RAM, and export errors recur in reviews.
Privacy & permissions7.0AI runs on-device and data is not sold, but five ad networks process free users' usage data.

Frequently asked questions

1

How do I remove the KineMaster watermark?

Subscribe to KineMaster Premium; there is no free method. The logo sits in the top-right corner of every free export, and the terms of service forbid deleting or covering it. Premium also removes ads, lets you save videos with Premium assets and adds 10 GB of KineCloud storage.

2

Can KineMaster export 4K for free?

Yes, if your phone can handle it. Free accounts export SD, 720p, 1080p or 4K at up to 60 fps in H.264 or H.265. Run Device Performance Analysis in Settings on the Create screen to see the highest resolution and layer count your hardware supports; on Android, recording 4K does not guarantee editing it.

3

How much is KineMaster Premium?

The developer's May 2026 list, in US dollars, shows $8.99 a month or $59.99 a year, and its pricing pages mention no free trial. The US App Store lists monthly tiers from $8.49 to $11.99, yearly ones at $49.99 or $59.99 and a 30-day pass at $9.49; Android also sells 30-day Ad Removal. There is no weekly or lifetime plan. Prices vary by region.

4

What happens if I cancel KineMaster Premium?

Premium stays active until the paid period ends, then ads and the watermark return. Cancel in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions, or in iOS Settings under your Apple Account; uninstalling does not stop billing. The terms call Premium payments non-refundable under Korean law, and App Store refund requests go to Apple.

5

What is a good alternative to KineMaster without a watermark?

VN is the closest: no watermark and free 4K export at 60 fps, with VN Pro at $7.99 a month for its AI tools. CapCut uses a deletable end clip instead of a burned-in logo, and InShot removes its watermark after one ad and sells Pro once for $49.99. Prices vary by region.
