About Video Maker

Video Maker, branded Video.Guru inside the app, is a free Android editor from Shantanu Pte. Limited, the Singapore company behind InShot and YouCut. Exports reach 4K with no watermark, and the tools include AI Trim, auto captions, a three-level stabilizer and text to speech. The trade-off is advertising: a full-screen ad usually plays at export, and some music sits behind ads. There is no iPhone version.

Video Maker Review: 4K Without a Watermark, Paid For in Full-Screen Ads

Free Tier: 4K Export, No Watermark, an Ad at Every Save

The free version exports at up to 4K without a watermark, as the Play listing promises and 2026 reviewers confirm. Speed runs from 0.2x to 100x, and the effects library counts more than 150 styles, some of them reserved for Pro. Google Play shows a Contains ads badge, and reviewers in English, Spanish and Russian describe a full-screen ad when they save or export, with the render continuing behind it. Some library tracks and caption generation ask you to watch an ad first, according to 2026 reviews in English, Portuguese and Vietnamese. Developer replies in 2026 say Pro removes the ads and adds exclusive stickers, FX effects and premium music.

AI Trim, AI Video Enhancer and Auto Captions Under Load

AI Trim arrived with the July 2026 update and cuts silences and filler words from clips automatically. AI Video Enhancer promises to unblur footage up to 4K, but reviewers in July and August 2026 say free users can enhance only a short clip before the Pro prompt, and one reports that processing locks the project until it finishes. The AI Video Stabilizer offers three strengths, named Minimal cropping, Ideal and Most stable. AI Auto Captions turn speech into an editable list of timed lines. In late September 2026, reviewers writing in English, Portuguese and Indonesian said captions had turned slow or stopped working after a recent update, including on paid plans. Text To Speech adds voices labelled Youthful, Friendly, Casual and Deep.

Shantanu Pte. Limited, a Six-Paragraph Policy and 360 Ad Systems

Google Play names Shantanu Pte. Limited, at Suntec Tower Three in Singapore, as the developer, under the same InShot Video Editor account that publishes InShot and YouCut, and inshot.com links to this listing. The privacy policy linked from Play is six short paragraphs headed InShot Inc. It says the company has no server to store personal data and names Facebook as its ad provider. The Data safety form is broader: approximate location, email address, device IDs, app interactions and crash logs are collected for analytics, none shared, with deletion on request. The developer's app-ads.txt authorizes about 360 ad systems, with direct accounts at Google, Meta, AppLovin, Pangle and Unity. Permissions include camera, microphone, storage, Bluetooth pairing and drawing over other apps. These are the developer's own disclosures.

Pro From $2.99 to $59.99, and the Restore Purchase Problem

Google Play lists in-app items from $2.99 to $59.99 in the US. Pro comes as a subscription, including a yearly plan, or a lifetime license; prices are regional and can change. At least eight English-language reviews from April to August 2026 say Pro status vanished or Restore Purchase failed; the developer's standard fix is to keep only the paying Google account signed in, restore, then add the others back. Other 2026 reviewers report a charge after a cancelled free trial, later refunded, and repeat payment attempts on an active yearly plan. Some also say an ad's close button opened the advertiser's page; the developer says third-party networks serve the ads. YouCut Pro costs $59.99 for life, InShot Pro $49.99 once, and CapCut's watermark is a deletable end clip.

  • Free exports go up to 4K with no watermark

  • Stabilizer offers three strengths: Minimal cropping, Ideal and Most stable
  • Editing works offline, according to several 2026 Play reviews

Cons

  • Full-screen ads at export, and some music unlocks only after an ad
  • Paid Pro status can vanish when several Google accounts are signed in
  • The linked privacy policy is six paragraphs headed InShot Inc., not the Play publisher

Verdict

We score it 7.1 because the free version gives away what rivals often charge for: 4K export without a watermark, a stabilizer, AI Trim and captions. Take it if you cut YouTube or social clips on Android and can sit through an ad at export. Skip it if you need an iPhone version, plan to pay while juggling several Google accounts on one phone, or want a clear, current privacy policy first.

Core function8.04K export without a watermark, AI Trim, auto captions, a stabilizer and text to speech; free Enhance stops early.
Ease of use8.0Many 2026 Play reviews call it quick to learn, but drafts break if source clips leave the gallery.
Monetisation6.5Generous free tier, offset by export ads, ad-gated music, misleading ad close buttons and Pro status that disappears.
Performance6.5A 73 MB editor that works offline, but September 2026 reviews report 4K export glitches and slow captions.
Privacy & permissions5.5The policy says no server stores personal data, while Data safety lists location, email and device IDs collected.

Frequently asked questions

1

Does Video Guru put a watermark on videos?

No. Free exports, including 4K, carry no watermark, according to the Play listing and 2026 reviews. The free version is paid for with ads instead: a full-screen ad usually plays when you save or export, and some library music and caption tools ask you to watch one first. Pro removes the ads.

2

Does Video Guru have auto captions?

Yes. AI Auto Captions turns speech into a list of timed lines you can edit one by one. Reviewers say free users may need to watch an ad before generating them. In late September 2026, some English, Portuguese and Indonesian reviewers reported slow or failed captions after a recent update, including on paid plans.

3

How much does Video Guru Pro cost?

Google Play lists in-app purchases from $2.99 to $59.99 in the US, covering subscriptions, including a yearly plan, and a lifetime license. Prices are regional and can change, so check the paywall in the app. On phones with several Google accounts, the developer advises restoring Pro with only the paying account signed in.

4

Does Video Guru work offline?

Mostly, yes. Reviewers in 2026 describe it as an editor that works without a connection. Two things need care: drafts point to the original photos and videos in your gallery, so deleting those files breaks the project, the developer says, and restoring a Pro purchase needs a stable internet connection.

5

Is Video Guru available on iPhone?

No. The developer said in August 2026 that the app is designed for Android only. An App Store listing called Video Maker - Video.Guru comes from a different developer, not Shantanu Pte. Limited. On iPhone, the same Singapore company publishes InShot and YouCut, which cover similar trimming, captions and background removal.
