Clash Royale Starts Royale Shuffle and Princess Gambit on Sept 21

The second half of Clash Royale's Minion Academy season opens on September 21, according to Supercell's release notes: Royale Shuffle, a mode that spins a random game mode and a random deck for every match, runs until October 5, and the Princess Gambit global tournament runs September 21–26. The 2v2 Competitive League, where losses cost trophies, closes the same day.
What was announced
Supercell's Minion Academy release notes, published September 7 with the season, split the month in two. The first half belongs to the 2v2 Competitive League (September 7–21): unlike the casual 2v2 ladder, league trophies go down on a loss, and it pays up to two badges — one for finishing the league road, one for a top-10,000 leaderboard finish.
From September 21:
- Royale Shuffle (September 21 – October 5). Every match spins a wheel that picks one of twelve classic modes and hands you a random deck. Supercell's line: "Battle in a random mode with a random deck. Spin the wheel and test your skill!"
- Princess Gambit global tournament (September 21–26). Sudden death with two Princess Towers and a 40-card rotating deck.
The season's two cards stay in play throughout. Hero Ice Wizard unlocks from the Pass Royale reward track or for 200 Hero Coins; his ability, Frosty Fella, spawns a snowman behind the nearest slowed troop and freezes everything nearby until the snowman is destroyed. Minion Giant, a flying win condition that only attacks buildings and towers with ranged toxin, is free through the Academy Antics album event — collect snippets, complete scenes — which pays 1,750 Minion Giant cards, an emote and a tower skin. He does not appear in chests until next season.
What it means for players
If you have been ignoring the 2v2 league, September 21 is the cut-off for its badges. After that, Royale Shuffle is the low-stakes mode: random decks mean your card levels matter less than usual, and twelve rotating modes keep the same deck from being the answer twice. Princess Gambit's 40-card rotation rewards breadth over a tuned ladder deck.
Minion Giant is the priority for Clash Royale collectors: the album is the only source this season, so unfinished scenes on October 5 mean waiting for chests in October.
What happens next
Royale Shuffle ends October 5, which is also when the next season starts and Minion Giant enters chests. The Minion Academy album closes with the season. Supercell's next release notes usually land a day or two before the switch.
