Best Learning Apps for Young Kids, Ranked
The best learning app for a young child costs nothing and sells nothing: PBS KIDS Games has more than 280 curriculum-based mini-games for ages 2 to 8,
Bebi: Baby Games for Preschool bundles short drag-and-drop, tracing and coloring games for children about two to five, from Bebi Family Games, which operates through companies in Estonia and Georgia. The Play listing counts 500+ games, the developer's site 2,000+ activities, with no ads and offline play. The catch is the padlock: dozens of games are free, and the rest need a subscription from $7.99 a month.
Specs come from the official store listings and were last checked on 2026-10-01. Developers change pricing and requirements — check the store page before installing.
Each game is a single-screen task: slide a rubber duck into the tub of its color, trace a dotted 2 or a lowercase b, fill an apple outline from a five-color palette. Dozens stay free, with padlocked tiles right beside them. That layout dates from a 2023 overhaul: before it, reviewers describe locked games opening one per day or for $4.99; after it, most content moved into a subscription, and Play reviews from early 2023 call it a bait and switch. The objection persists: of the 199 newest English Play reviews, posted May 3 to October 1, 2026, 21 give one or two stars: 10 object to the paywall or price, and 6 describe sign-in or subscription-access problems.
The developer's site groups the content into nine modules: Happy ABCs for letter sounds and tracing, Math Spark for numbers and patterns, Art & Colors with 500-plus coloring activities, plus Jobs, Pet Pals, Little Designers, Dino World, Coding Play and Music. Bebi says early-childhood specialists map each game to a skill, and the September 2026 update redrew four modules by hand. Reviews doubt the depth: a 2023 Play review with 148 helpful votes found many games near-duplicates that stay easy for a three-year-old even on the oldest age setting; a 2022 review with 252 votes noted that shape and animal rounds praise the child without naming the answer.
Apple's label for the iOS app reads Data Not Collected, under Apple's Made for Ages 0–5 listing. Google Play's data safety form says the Android version collects app interactions, installed apps, crash logs and device IDs, shares device IDs for analytics, and names advertising or marketing among the uses of installed-apps data. The privacy policy, last updated July 30, 2021, matches that split and cites COPPA, GDPR and CCPA, including parental consent for children under 13. A code-protected Parental Gate covers settings, purchases and outside links. An April 2025 archive of the kidSAFE Seal Program's site listed the app as a member; on October 3, 2026, that page no longer did. Check the current terms with the developer.
On the US App Store, plans run $7.99 to $11.99 a month, $18.99 a quarter and $39.99 to $69.99 a year, and an item called Unlock all Baby Games costs $150.00; prices vary by region, so check the offer in the app. Trial terms have shifted: a September 2025 developer reply said only the yearly plan had a 3-day trial, while 2026 replies mention one week. Bebi's terms require cancelling in the store at least 24 hours before renewal, and deleting the app does not stop billing. Reviewers in 2026 report yearly prices reaching £50 in the UK and €50 in France. Khan Academy Kids is free, Teach Your Monster to Read costs $8.99 once, and Toca Boca World sells single packs.

We score it 6.6: the games are tidy, ad-free and simple enough that reviewers' under-twos play alone, and a code-locked Parental Gate guards settings and purchases. Take it if one subscription covering letters, numbers, coloring and music suits you, and you will set a renewal reminder. Skip it if you expect the free tier to last, if up to $69.99 a year stings, or if you prefer a one-time purchase such as Teach Your Monster to Read.

Yes. The developer lists the games as playable without an internet connection, and its website repeats that claim. Buying a plan, signing in to a Bebi account and restoring a subscription on another device do need a connection; support replies tell subscribers to go online first when a purchase is not recognized.

iPhone and iPad need iOS 15.0 or later, Macs an Apple M1 chip or newer, and Android version 7.1 or later. The download is large for a toddler app: about 1.4 GB on iOS and 1.2 GB on Android. The interface comes in 10 languages, including English, French and Arabic.
Yes, through a Bebi account: the developer says to sign in with an email on the device where you paid, then use that login on other phones or tablets. Several 2026 Play reviews describe the sign-in spinning or rejecting passwords. Play tags the game single-player, though a 2024 App Store review mentions a split-screen game for two.
The store listing counts more than 500 games and the developer's site more than 2,000 activities, but only dozens are free; the rest open with a subscription. Bebi added batches of new mini-games in February, March and May 2026, so the locked share keeps growing alongside the total.
