The Witcher 3 Remastered Arrives as a Free Upgrade
CD Projekt Red's remaster of The Witcher 3 lands on September 29, and the studio announced it as a free upgrade for everyone who already owns the game
Toca Boca Jr is free to install but not free to play: of the 15-plus preschool games inside, from Pet Doctor to Lab: Elements, only Toca Kitchen 2 opens without paying. The rest need a $7.99-a-month US plan or the wider Piknik Unlimited bundle. The app took over the old Toca Kitchen 2 listing in 2023, is now published by Spin Master's Sago Sago Toys, and most earlier one-off Toca purchases do not carry over.
Specs come from the official store listings and were last checked on 2026-10-01. Developers change pricing and requirements — check the store page before installing.
The free tier is a single game. Piknik's help center names Toca Kitchen 2 as the one title playable without a subscription, and families who bought Kitchen 2 years ago keep it at no cost. Kitchen 2 is a no-rules cooking toy: children cook whatever they like and serve it to hungry characters, whose reactions show what each one enjoys. Everything else carries a lock, including Dance, Pet Doctor with its 25 animal patients, Lab: Elements with all 118 elements of the periodic table, Builders with six block-building characters, Boo, Cars and Nature. Parties, which merges the old Tea Party and Birthday apps, arrived in the August 31, 2026 update, and Google Play lists Mystery House as the next game.
Offline play runs through one screen behind the Parents Icon, top left, which first asks an adult for a year of birth. Its Games list marks every title: a grey X means the game shipped in the base download and cannot be removed, a green X means it is downloaded and can be deleted, and a blue arrow means it still has to be fetched. Downloads need a connection; afterwards games run without Wi-Fi, and a Download over WiFi only switch in Settings governs mobile data. That control matters because the iPhone install is already close to 1 GB. A Piknik sign-in unlocks the plan on up to 10 devices across iPhone, iPad and Android.
The App Store lists the app as Made for Ages 0–5, while Piknik's help center suggests ages 3 to 6. kidSAFE has listed the Piknik family of apps, this one included, as a member since 2023 and shows its COPPA Certified seal, and the developer has committed the app to Google Play's Families Policy. The Teacher Approved badge on Google Play means teachers and specialists rated design, age fit and how ads or purchases affect children. The privacy policy, revised August 21, 2026, rules out behavioral advertising, yet the Data safety form says user and device IDs may be shared with third parties for analytics and marketing, and AppsFlyer and App Set IDs help identify which Piknik apps are installed. Google Play also labels the listing Contains ads, while the developer promises no third-party advertising. Read Piknik's privacy policy before signing a child in.
Paying means a subscription; there are no coins or item packs. On the US App Store the Toca Boca Jr Plan costs $7.99, which Piknik's help center describes as a monthly plan. Piknik Unlimited adds nine apps, including Sago Mini World, Hair Salon 4 and PAW Patrol Academy, for $14.99 a month on Piknik's website after a 30-day trial, up from $11.99 at its October 2023 launch. Prices vary by region, so check the current price in the app. Standalone Toca apps bought earlier, other than Kitchen 2, unlock nothing here. Khan Academy Kids, from the nonprofit Khan Academy, covers ages 2 to 8 with no ads or subscriptions; Toca Boca World sells packs from $0.99; Teach Your Monster to Read costs $8.99 once.

Toca Boca Jr scores 7.2 for keeping a deep set of no-rules Toca toys under kidSAFE COPPA certification and a Teacher Approved badge, then charging monthly for all but one. Take it if a preschooler already loves Kitchen 2 and renting the rest at $7.99 a month suits you, or if the ten-app Piknik bundle covers several young children. Skip it if you want to pay once: Teach Your Monster to Read costs $8.99, and Khan Academy Kids costs nothing.

Yes, once a game is downloaded. Fetching each game needs an internet connection, and after that it runs without Wi-Fi. The Parents Icon > Games screen shows the status: a grey or green X means the game is stored on the device, a blue arrow means it is not downloaded yet. Subscribers sign in to their Piknik account once so paid games unlock.
Only partly. The app is free to install and Toca Kitchen 2 is free to play, but the other games need the Toca Boca Jr Plan, $7.99 a month on the US App Store, or Piknik Unlimited, $14.99 a month on Piknik's website. There are no coin or item purchases. Prices vary by region; check the current price in the app.
It needs iOS 15 or later, or Android 9 or later. The iPhone install is close to 1 GB before extra games, so free space matters on older tablets. Some Google Play reviews of version 4.x describe games crashing back to the menu, and the developer's replies recommend updating or reinstalling.
No. Google Play tags the app as single player, and Piknik's help pages describe no online play, chat or friend lists. Siblings can share one subscription instead: each child gets a separate profile under the Piknik account, and the same plan unlocks on up to 10 devices at a time.
The store listing names 15 games for subscribers, among them Kitchen 2, Dance, Kitchen Sushi, Pet Doctor, Builders, Boo, Cars, Train and Nature, and Parties joined on August 31, 2026. Free players get Kitchen 2 only. Apple Arcade members get a separate app, Toca Boca Jr Classics, with nine of the games.
