About Bendy's Nightmare Run

Bendy's Nightmare Run is Joey Drew Studios' 2018 endless runner brought back on August 19, 2026 — Bendy, Boris or Alice fleeing four cartoon bosses through a pirate cove, a city of killer taxis, a dump and a library, swiping to dodge and throwing whatever you pick up. Free on iOS and Android with ads and Ink packs from $0.99 to $29.99, rated 4.8 on Google Play. The one thing returning players want gone is the new ticket system that meters how often you can run.

Bendy's Nightmare Run Review: The 2018 Runner Is Back, Now With Tickets

Four Episodes, Four Bosses, and a Boss Fight Inside Every Run

The structure is a runner turned around: the boss chases you, and you fight it as you flee. Each of the four episodes is a chase through its own place — Treasure Trouble on docks and pirate ships with Chester the treasure chest behind you, Death and Taxis through streets and tunnels ahead of Gaskette the taxi, Soup Gone Bad across a dump pursued by the can-opener Canoodle, Dewey Decimated through a library — split into acts with three targets each. You swipe for lanes, jumps and slams, and collect weapons to throw back at the boss while managing health and powerups. Bacon Soup and XP unlock characters, levels, weapons, costumes and upgrades; a Nightmare mode is the endless variant. An August 21, 2026 four-star praises the difficulty curve across an episode's acts and bosses that each play differently; a Play review from the same day calls the controls smooth and the boss loop addictive.

The Ticket System: What Changed Between the 2018 Game and This One

Reviewers who played the original at school are unanimous that the game itself is intact — the September 6 Play five-star says nothing changed except the ticket system. The tickets are the argument. An August 19 App Store two-star asks why a returning player must wait 30 minutes to run one level; the August 25 Play four-star with the most votes says the system has to go because it discourages grinding Bacon Soup and character mileage. Joey Drew Studios has moved: version 2.0.3 on September 8 makes tickets spawn as in-run pickups and lets an ad refill two, and the September Play review calls the system toned down. Other launch bugs: a Unity login prompt after backgrounding the app that wiped a completed episode's progress, audio bugs in some episodes, and in-app purchases that would not go through for one player.

Ink Packs to $29.99, Ads You Choose, and an iOS 16 Floor

Both stores carry advertising and in-app purchase badges. The App Store lists six Ink packs — Handful $0.99, Stockpile $1.99, Bathtub $2.99, Pool $6.99, River $14.99, Ocean $29.99 — and Google Play prices items from $0.99 to $29.99; the August 21 four-star calls the economy generous for a free game. Ads are the opt-in kind so far, watched to refill tickets. Rated Teen on Play for violence and blood, 13+ by Apple. The iOS build is 831 MB and asks for iOS 16, with iPad, Apple Silicon Mac and Apple Vision listed; Android needs 9. Google's card shows app activity, app info and device IDs collected and nothing shared; Apple lists no tracking. A month after the return the numbers are 100,000-plus installs and 4,620 reviews at 4.8 on Play, 672 App Store ratings at 4.7. Prices are regional.

Pros

  • The 2018 game intact — four episodes, four bosses, Nightmare mode
  • Bosses chase you and you throw weapons back — a runner with fights
  • Smooth swipe controls and a fair difficulty curve, per August reviews
  • Generous economy, ads only when you choose to watch one
  • New graphics, boss variants and a Studio Light skin over the original

Cons

  • Tickets meter your runs — a 30-minute wait per level at launch
  • A Unity re-login wiped one player's completed episode
  • Audio bugs in some episodes and purchases failing for one reviewer
  • iOS 16 floor and 831 MB for a 2018 runner

Verdict

A 7.0: a well-made rubber-hose runner with real boss fights, returned intact after five years and rated 4.8 by the people who missed it — minus the ticket system that meters their runs, which Joey Drew Studios has already softened once. Take it if you want a runner with more than lane-swapping and do not mind waiting or watching an ad between runs. Skip it if a play-timer in a single-player game is a dealbreaker, or if you need saves you can trust while the Unity login bug stands.

Gameplay7Boss chases with thrown weapons and acts with three targets each; a runner that asks more than reaction time, per fans.
Controls8Four swipes — lanes, jump, slam — that reviewers call smooth and easy to grasp.
Replay value7Four episodes to three-check, characters to level, Nightmare mode; the tickets set the pace.
Graphics & sound8The rubber-hose ink cartoon updated with new graphics; audio bugs reported in some episodes.
Monetisation6Ink packs to $29.99 and opt-in ads are fine; the ticket wall is what returning players resent.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play Bendy's Nightmare Run offline?

Not reliably. An August 2026 App Store review was prompted to log back in with Unity after backgrounding the app and lost a completed episode, which points to online-tied saves, and the ticket refill ads need a connection. The runs themselves are single-player; the store pages do not promise an offline mode.

2

Is Bendy's Nightmare Run pay to win?

No — the August 21, 2026 four-star calls the economy generous, and Bacon Soup and XP from runs unlock everything. Ink packs run $0.99 to $29.99 on the App Store and buy currency and skips; the friction is the ticket system, which limits how many runs you can start until you watch an ad or find a ticket pickup. Prices vary by region.

3

What phone do you need for Bendy's Nightmare Run?

iOS 16 or newer with 831 MB free, or Android 9 or newer. The App Store build also lists iPad, Apple Silicon Macs and Apple Vision. Reviews report no performance complaints; the bugs are saves, audio and purchases rather than frame rate, so an ordinary phone from the last few years is enough.

4

Can you play Bendy's Nightmare Run with friends?

No. It is a single-player runner — you pick Bendy, Boris or Alice and outrun a boss alone. There is no multiplayer, no leaderboard described on the stores and no co-op; the competition is your own three-check completion of each act and your Nightmare mode distance.

5

How long does Bendy's Nightmare Run take to finish?

An August 22, 2026 App Store reviewer had beaten all four episodes and maxed Bendy within days of the return, so the episodes are a few evenings; three-checking every act and levelling Boris and Alice takes longer, and Nightmare mode is endless. The tickets stretch it: at launch one level per 30-minute wait, eased in version 2.0.3.
