About Mob Control

Mob Control is Voodoo's crowd-shooting tower defense game, and its ads are the first thing to know: free players get a forced one after every battle, while any purchase switches those off for good. The lane play is quick to learn, with multiplier gates that double or triple your units before they hit an enemy base. Reward videos for multipliers, energy and card upgrades remain even after you pay.

Mob Control Review: Satisfying Crowd Battles, Paid For in Forced Ads

Multiplier Gates, Champions and a Base to Break

Each battle is a lane with your cannon at the bottom and an enemy base at the far end. Units you fire pass through gates that add +1 or multiply the group by two, three or four, while red enemy units eat into yours on contact, so the skill lies in steering the stream through the best gates. A full charge launches a Champion, a heavy unit that breaks through crowds. Wins pay coins, raids on rival bases yield bricks, and booster packs feed a card collection of Cannons, Mobs and Champions levelled in the Armory. The design began as a one-week prototype at Voodoo's Paris studio, inspired by its 2018 hit Fire Balls 3D, before a four-person team spent more than nine months turning it into a longer-lived game.

What the $2.99 No Ads Pack Removes, and What It Leaves

Free players get an obligatory ad after each battle, and Voodoo's support team has confirmed on Google Play that it plays whether or not you accept the separate offer to multiply rewards. Any purchase, not only the $2.99 No Ads pack, permanently switches off those interstitials and banners, according to the help center and replies posted in September 2026. What stays are the opt-in videos of about 30 seconds: 2x or 4x post-battle multipliers, energy refills, speed-ups and card upgrades, where one video covers at most 50,000 coins of the cost. Skip'Its, which the VIP and ELITE memberships hand out daily, claim those bonuses without a video. Prices quoted here are US App Store figures; check the current price in the app, as it varies by region.

Tracking Labels, Loot Boxes and 'That Fake Ad'

By Voodoo's own 2022 figures, ads brought in about 85% of the game's revenue and purchases about 15%, and the privacy disclosures follow from that. Apple's label lists location, identifiers, usage data and diagnostics as data used to track you across other companies' apps. Google Play's Data safety section says approximate location and device IDs are shared with third parties for advertising, and states that data isn't encrypted in transit. The App Store rating lists loot boxes and Google's rating notes purchases that include random items, which matches the booster packs of varying rarity. The App Store subtitle jokes that this is the real game behind 'THAT fake ad', and Google Play reviewers are split on it: some say the lanes match the ads, others say the store screenshots promise scenes they never reached.

Pros

  • Multiplier gates and Champion timing turn each lane into a quick routing puzzle
  • Any single purchase permanently removes forced ads, not only the No Ads pack
  • Skip'Its from VIP and ELITE memberships replace the 30-second reward videos
  • Monthly Season Pass at $6.99 adds quests, heroes, cannons and skins
  • Steam edition for Windows adds local split-screen co-op and controller support

Cons

  • Free players sit through a forced ad after every single battle
  • Reviewers report ads that open the store, restart the game and void rewards
  • Cloud saves don't carry over between Android and iPhone without a manual transfer
  • Location and device IDs go to advertising partners, per both store labels

Verdict

We scored it 6.9 because the crowd-routing core works and the single-lane aiming suits a phone, while the ad load for free players weighs on every session. Take it if you will spend a dollar or two, since any purchase ends the forced ads and, per Voodoo's help center, unlocks offline play. Skip it if you want a free game without interruptions or cross-platform saves: Clash Royale and Clash of Clans run no ads, and Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD plays its tower defense offline.

Gameplay7.5Gate routing and Champion timing satisfy, but reviewers widely report repetition once the card collection matures.
Controls8.5One cannon aimed down a single lane suits a phone screen; controller support is listed only for the Steam edition.
Replay value6.5Monthly Season Pass and events add goals, but Arena entry runs on five free daily tickets plus win-streak extras.
Graphics & sound7.0Hundreds of bright units read clearly on screen, though Voodoo's help center addresses iPhones overheating.
Monetisation5.0A forced ad follows every battle until any purchase; reward videos still gate multipliers, upgrades and energy.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play Mob Control offline?

Partly, and Voodoo's own statements differ. Its help center says players who have bought nothing need a connection because ads only load online, and that any purchase unlocks offline play. Support replies on Google Play in September 2026 said core progression runs offline while some modes need a network. Several reviewers say the game began demanding a connection after their first sessions.

2

Is Mob Control pay to win?

Not strictly, but money and ad views both speed up card levels. Voodoo's support says the game can be progressed without paying, and each ad or Skip'It covers at most 50,000 coins of a card upgrade. The US App Store lists No Ads at $2.99, VIP Club at $5.99 and the Season Pass at $6.99; prices vary by region.

3

What phone do you need for Mob Control?

Android 8.0 or later, or iOS 15 or later on iPhone and iPad. Google Play also lists Windows availability through Google Play Games on PC. If an iPhone runs hot in long sessions, Voodoo's help center suggests switching off haptic feedback. The separate Steam edition asks for Windows 10, 6 GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 950.

4

Can you play Mob Control with friends?

Not side by side on phones. Google Play lists the mobile game as single player, with raids on rival players through Base Invasion, Revenge and the Arena, which gives five free tickets a day plus extras from win streaks. The Steam edition for Windows, published in 2024 by QubicGames and Gamersky Games, adds local split-screen co-op with two cannons. Saves do not sync between Android and iOS automatically.

5

Does Mob Control get new content?

Yes, monthly by Voodoo's account: the listing promises new mechanics and content each month, and the Season Pass rotates monthly with quests, heroes, cannons and skins. Long-term goals come from Championship Stars and the Champions League. The most common complaint among Google Play reviewers is that the forced ad after each brief battle can outlast the fight itself.
