About Brain Test: Tricky Puzzles

Most of this game's 600-plus levels play offline, each a single doodled riddle with a literal-minded twist: find the black sheep among three white ones, balance a seesaw, shake the phone to roll a die. Unico Studio launched it in 2019 and added 169 levels in 2026 alone. The catch is an ad after nearly every solved level; removing them costs $4.99 once, while the VIP pop-up asks $3.99 a week.

Brain Test Review: 600-Plus Clever Tricks, an Ad After Nearly Every One

600-Plus One-Screen Riddles, Most of Them Playable Offline

Every level is one drawing on lined notebook paper under a one-line prompt, and the answer is rarely the obvious tap. Level 30 asks where the black sheep is while showing three white ones; level 370 wants a seesaw balanced against a block marked 15 using tiles of 10 and 50. The numbering now runs past 600, and App Store release notes list four 2026 updates adding 20, 19, 26 and then 104 levels, the last batch including World Cup 2026 levels. Most of the catalog loads without a connection, and players report that ads stop offline, though the newest levels won't load until you reconnect. Trivia Crack, by contrast, needs a connection for every duel.

Shake, Drag, Read Literally: Puzzles That Use the Phone Itself

The signature trick is that the solution often sits outside the drawing: an early dice level is solved by physically shaking the phone, and other answers mean dragging fixed interface icons rather than objects in the scene. Some players report that these UI-based puzzles occasionally refuse a correct move. Off the phone it gets worse: on Windows, through Google Play Games, a player could not roll the dice with a mouse, and Unico's reply acknowledged the problem with that level. The sequels change the formula rather than extend it — Brain Test 2: Tricky Stories groups tricks into story chapters with characters such as Tom the Cat, and Brain Test 3: Tricky Quests adds an inventory where items merge.

$3.99 a Week for VIP, or $4.99 Once: Where the Money Goes

Help is paid in bulbs: under every level sit a hint button, a skip priced at 50 bulbs in the store screenshots, a gift box and a video button that trades an ad for more. Ads come up in more than half of the roughly 300 English Google Play reviews we read, and Unico's replies acknowledge complaints about ads on the game board itself. The App Store lists two exits that are easy to confuse: Remove Ads at $4.99, paid once, and a $3.99 VIP Package that renews weekly after a three-day trial, about $207 a year. Android also sells Brain Test Premium, a separate ad-free edition, for $4.99. These are US prices and vary by region.

Rated for Everyone, Written for Ages 16 and Up

Apple rates the game 4+ and Google Play rates it Everyone, yet Unico Studio's terms, updated in April 2026, require users to be at least 16, with parental consent up to 18, and the privacy policy repeats that floor. Google Play's data safety entry lists approximate location, device IDs, app interactions and purchase history as shared with third parties, says data isn't encrypted in transit and offers no deletion request, although the policy lists a deletion right by email. The policy also names 22 ad networks. Brain Out, which Google Play lists first among similar games, is rated Teen there for crude humor and mild blood.

Pros

  • Numbering runs past 600 levels, with 169 added across four 2026 updates
  • Most levels load offline, and players report no ads without a connection
  • Solutions use the phone itself: shaking it, dragging interface icons, literal readings
  • One-time Remove Ads costs $4.99 on the App Store
  • Runs on Android 7.0 and iOS 15, plus Macs with Apple silicon

Cons

  • An ad follows nearly every solved level, and some sit on the game board
  • The VIP pop-up sells a $3.99 weekly subscription beside the one-time option
  • Terms require users to be 16 or older despite Everyone and 4+ ratings
  • Motion puzzles such as the dice shake can't be completed on PC

Verdict

We score it 6.6 because the riddles are better designed than the business around them. More than 600 one-screen tricks, steady new batches and offline play make it easy to recommend for lateral-thinking fans on a flight or a commute, ideally with the one-time $4.99 ad removal. Skip it if an ad after nearly every level is a dealbreaker, if a $3.99 weekly VIP could be tapped by mistake, or if you are choosing for a young child: the terms set the minimum age at 16.

Gameplay8.0Over 600 one-screen riddles that reward literal reading and phone tricks, though a few answers feel arbitrary.
Controls7.5Tap and drag on one screen; motion puzzles fail on PC, where the developer acknowledged the dice level.
Replay value6.0Each riddle has one fixed answer, so solved levels stay solved; new batches and daily levels are the draw.
Graphics & sound7.0Doodle art on lined notebook paper keeps every prompt and object legible on a small phone screen.
Monetisation4.5An ad after nearly every level, bulbs earned through video, and a $3.99 weekly VIP beside $4.99 removal.

Frequently asked questions

1

Does Brain Test work offline?

Mostly, yes. The bulk of the 600-plus levels load without Wi-Fi or mobile data, and players in several languages report that no ads appear offline. Reports from July 2026 add that the newest levels won't download until you reconnect, and Social Login, added on iOS in September 2026 to carry progress between devices, needs a connection too.

2

How much does it cost to remove ads in Brain Test?

$4.99, paid once, on the US App Store. Don't confuse it with the $3.99 VIP Package, which renews weekly after a three-day free trial and adds 100 bulbs, a double daily gift and cheaper hints and skips. Android also has Brain Test Premium, a paid ad-free edition at $4.99. Check the current price in the store; it varies by region.

3

What phone do you need to play Brain Test?

Android 7.0 or iOS 15 and later. The install is roughly 210 MB on Android and 320 MB on iPhone, and the iOS build also runs on Macs with an M1 chip or newer. Google Play Games on Windows asks for Windows 10 and 8 GB of RAM, but shake puzzles can't be solved with a mouse.

4

Can you play Brain Test with friends?

Not directly: Google Play tags it single player, and there is no versus or co-op mode, so playing together means passing one phone around. Game Center achievements arrived on iOS in August 2026. For real head-to-head play, Trivia Crack's turn-based duels are the closer fit.

5

How long does it take to finish Brain Test?

There is no fixed end. The numbering has passed 600 levels, daily levels run alongside them, and 169 more arrived during 2026. Each level is one screen and one answer, so a session can be a single riddle; the Autumn Puzzle Rush event asks for 10 levels in 30 minutes in exchange for 75 bulbs.
