About Everyday Puzzles

Fanatee, the Miami and São Paulo studio behind CodyCross, puts 14 short word and logic modes into Everyday Puzzles on Google Play: Password, Connected, Secret Word, Consensus, Sudoku, crosswords and more, each with a fresh puzzle daily and hard versions from level 10. Past days stay playable in a free calendar. The cost is time: an ad follows almost every finished round, nothing works offline, and unlimited rounds of a favourite mode need VIP.

Everyday Puzzles Review: 14 Daily Word Games, an Ad After Each One

One Round per Mode a Day, Plus a Free Calendar

Each tile on the home screen serves one new puzzle a day. Rounds are short and capped by mistakes: Password allows six guesses, Connected asks you to sort 16 words into four groups of four with four slips allowed, and the store screenshots show Word Chain tolerating six errors and Secret Word ten guesses. Once the day's set is done, the developer's replies to players point to the Calendar, where earlier days stay open for free; Unlimited mode, endless rounds of one game, is a VIP perk. In a 2025 reply the developer also said Unlimited and Hard Mode access were part of an A/B test, so two accounts may not see the same menu.

Secret Word, Consensus and Word Chain: Fanatee's Own Twists

Most tiles borrow familiar formats, and the store copy names the inspirations itself: Wordle for Password, Waffle for Hashtag, Weaver for Tangle. Secret Word, which Fanatee shares only with its Stop 2, sets a category such as fast-food chains; every guess returns a number, and a smaller number means you are closer. Consensus, added in October 2025, plays like a Family Feud survey: you name the community's most popular answers, with three errors allowed. Word Chain arrived in April 2026 and fills a ladder of linked words, such as sea, food and chain. Quality is the weak spot: in 2024 the developer acknowledged a Secret Word bug that steered players toward wrong answers, and an April 2026 Play reviewer called the Connected groups too easy even on hard; the developer's own replies describe Connected as a work in progress.

An Ad After Each Puzzle, or VIP From $9.99

Both stores flag advertising, and 2026 Play reviews describe the rhythm: an ad after nearly every finished puzzle, some running past a minute, a few opening the Play Store. Coins buy hints, 50 to 200 apiece in the store screenshots. The App Store privacy label lists identifiers and usage data as used to track you across other companies' apps. VIP removes forced ads and banners, while rewarded videos stay optional. The US App Store lists VIP Player at $9.99, $19.99 or $24.99, Premium Forever at $13.99 or $19.99 and a 1 Day Premium pass at $0.99, and Play buyers describe a one-time payment, not a subscription. Apple Arcade members can skip all of it: the Mini Games+ edition, out since August 6, 2026, has no ads or purchases. Prices vary by region and may change.

Pros

  • 14 daily modes, from Password and Connected to Sudoku and Cryptogram
  • Free Calendar keeps past days' puzzles playable after the daily set
  • Secret Word scores guesses by number, a mode shared only with Stop 2
  • Hard versions of the daily puzzles unlock once you reach level 10
  • Ad removal sold as one-off unlocks, such as Premium Forever at $13.99
  • Apple Arcade edition on iPhone drops ads and purchases entirely

Cons

  • An ad follows almost every finished puzzle in the free version
  • No offline play, as the developer confirms in replies to reviews
  • Progress is lost on reinstall unless you signed in with Google, Apple or Facebook
  • Unlimited rounds of a favourite mode are reserved for VIP buyers

Verdict

The 6.8 reflects a generous puzzle menu taxed by advertising. Fourteen daily modes, hard versions and a free calendar of past days make it a broad free alternative to NYT Games, whose archive of over 10,000 puzzles is for subscribers. Take it if you play daily and will either accept an ad per round or pay once for VIP. Skip it if you need offline play or tightly edited puzzles; iPhone owners already paying for Apple Arcade should install the ad-free Mini Games+ edition instead.

Gameplay7.5Fourteen short modes with regular and hard versions, though reviewers find Connected groups too easy.
Controls7.0Simple tap-and-type grids, but Play reviews report restarts after ads and a black-screen bug that cost players long streaks.
Replay value8.0A new puzzle per mode every day, a free back catalogue in the Calendar, and Flame streaks.
Graphics & sound6.5Flat yellow-and-white tiles with a dark mode; functional rather than pretty, and one reviewer asked to revert a 2026 Sudoku sound change.
Monetisation5.0An ad after almost every puzzle; removing forced ads starts at $9.99 on the US App Store.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play Everyday Puzzles offline?

No. In replies to Google Play reviews through September 2026, Fanatee says it does not support offline play so that daily content stays current, and players report the puzzles will not load without data or Wi-Fi. For a flight or a cruise, Wordscapes carries Google Play's Offline tag.

2

Is Everyday Puzzles free, and how much is VIP?

Yes, every mode is free with ads, and coins earned in play buy hints. VIP removes forced ads and banners and adds Unlimited mode; the US App Store lists VIP Player from $9.99 to $24.99 and Premium Forever at $13.99 or $19.99, plus a $0.99 one-day pass. Fanatee's terms route billing and refund requests through Apple or Google. Prices vary by region.

3

What phones can run Everyday Puzzles?

Android 7.0 or newer, or iOS 13 or later on iPhone and iPad, and Google Play also lists a Windows version. Expect roughly a 200 MB download on Android and over 300 MB on iPhone. The stores rate it Everyone and 4+, yet Fanatee's terms say its games are meant for players 13 and older in the US and 16 and older in the EU.

4

Can you play Everyday Puzzles with friends?

Not head to head: Google Play tags it Single player. Consensus scores you against the community's survey answers, and signing in with Google, Apple or Facebook saves progress across devices; Fanatee's privacy policy says a social login can import your friends list. For live rivalry, Trivia Crack lets you challenge friends and players worldwide.

5

How long does a daily set of Everyday Puzzles take?

Up to 14 short rounds a day, more once hard versions unlock at level 10. Each round is capped by mistakes, for example six guesses in Password and four slips in Connected. One April 2026 Play reviewer said rounds took 15 to 20 seconds, each followed by an ad. When the set runs out, the Calendar's past days stay free, and Unlimited mode needs VIP.
