About Crystal of Atlan

Crystal of Atlan is Skystone's magicpunk action RPG — a Dungeon Fighter-style brawler in 3D, with more than ten classes, air combos you actually input, co-op dungeons, guilds and Mine Wars PvP — free on iOS and Android since May 26, 2025, past its first anniversary with a King of Fighters '98 collaboration. It rates 4.8 on the App Store and 4.3 on Google Play. Reviewers say the same first thing — it does not play itself — and the same second: a 120-point energy cap, gear enhancement that turns pay-to-win, and Opal packs to $99.99.

Crystal of Atlan Review: An MMO Brawler You Actually Play, Metered by Energy

No Auto-Battle: Ten-Plus Classes, Air Combos and Co-op Dungeons

The distinction the reviews draw first is that nothing is automatic. A May 29, 2025 App Store five-star's title says it: finally an MMORPG that does not play itself — no auto anything, you fight. Combat is a 3D beat-'em-up with launchers, juggles and air combos across more than ten classes — each branching into sub-classes at level 60: the Sugariff idol-brawler joined the Fighter tree on August 27, 2026, and King of Fighters' Mai Shiranui now duels players as a combat NPC. Dungeons are co-op, guilds run team battles, and Mine Wars is the base-attack PvP. The most-voted Play reviews are from launch: a May 28, 2025 five-star with 193 votes had low expectations and was converted; a May 29 four-star with 133 votes has a blast with the combat and finds class animations flashy but clear.

The Energy Cap, the Enhancement Wall, and a Class Change That Changes Your Face

Energy is the first wall: a June 1, 2025 three-star calls the system really, really annoying — you want to play and level skills and cannot — and a June 16 four-star from a couple who got hooked says the 120-point cap pulls them out of the game, with most quests costing chunks of it. The second wall is enhancement: a June 20 two-star finds the game incredibly fun and the main power system — enhancing gear — pay-to-win past a certain point. Smaller grievances: the 193-vote review picked a character for her look and resents the class change altering it, an August 2026 review wants a gender option per class, an August 2025 five-star finds the character wandering off-target, and a July 26, 2026 three-star was banned from Mine Wars for negative behaviour while merely following a player. A June 2026 review finds Prismadium, a crafting currency, hard to earn.

Opal to $99.99, a $4.69 Monthly Pass, Loot Boxes, No Ads

There are no ads. The App Store sells Opal from 60 for $0.99 to 6,480 for $99.99, a 30-day Phantasium Pass at $4.69, a Weekly Pack at $2.99; Google Play's range is $0.99 to $99.99, and Apple flags Loot Boxes. The enhancement and energy complaints above are where that shop bites — the reviews do not accuse the gacha of gating characters, since classes are chosen, not pulled. Data collection is light on paper: Google lists nothing collected, Apple usage data linked to you. The iOS build is 2.16 GB on iOS 13 or later; Android needs 7.0; thirteen languages; rated Teen and 13+. Sixteen months in it shows 1 million-plus installs and 39,400 reviews at 4.3 on Play, and 5,983 App Store ratings at 4.8. Prices are regional.

Pros

  • No auto-battle — launchers, juggles and air combos you input yourself
  • More than ten classes with sub-class branches, and a KOF '98 collaboration
  • Co-op dungeons, guild battles and Mine Wars PvP with friends
  • Well optimised, with visuals reviewers call stunning for a free game
  • No ads, and classes chosen rather than pulled from a gacha

Cons

  • A 120-point energy cap that stops you playing when you want to
  • Gear enhancement turns pay-to-win past a point, per a June 2025 two-star
  • Class change alters your character's look; no gender option per class
  • Opal to $99.99 and loot boxes, plus a crafting currency that is hard to earn

Verdict

A 6.9: the rare mobile MMO where the combat is the point and you do it yourself, with a real class roster and co-op, held back by an energy bar that ends your evening and an enhancement system that eventually asks for money. Take it if you miss Dungeon Fighter-style brawling and want it with friends on a phone. Skip it if a stamina cap on a game you like is the thing you hate most, or if you want a story worth following between dungeons.

Gameplay8A real brawler with class identity and co-op; the story between dungeons is thin.
Controls7Flashy but clear combos on touch; a character that wanders off-target for a 2025 reviewer.
Replay value7Sub-classes, collaborations, guilds and PvP — metered by an energy bar that runs out first.
Graphics & sound8Magicpunk cities and anime classes, well optimised; the basic text font is the one visual complaint.
Monetisation5No ads and no character gacha, but energy, enhancement and $99.99 Opal packs do the gating.

Frequently asked questions

1

Can you play Crystal of Atlan offline?

No. It is an online action MMO — co-op dungeons, guilds, Mine Wars PvP, a live shop and the energy system all run on Skystone's servers, and a July 2026 reviewer was banned mid-session by the anti-behaviour system. There is no offline mode; download the 2.16 GB build on Wi-Fi and expect a connection for every session.

2

Is Crystal of Atlan pay to win?

In progression, yes, say the reviews: gear enhancement — the main power system — becomes pay-to-win past a point, per a June 2025 two-star, and the energy cap slows free players. Classes are chosen rather than pulled, so there is no character gacha; Opal runs $0.99 to $99.99, a monthly pass is $4.69, and Apple flags loot boxes. Prices vary by region.

3

What phone do you need for Crystal of Atlan?

iOS 13 or newer with 2.16 GB free, or Android 7.0 or newer — low floors for a 3D action game, and a May 2025 reviewer calls it very well optimised. A June 2025 review flags battery drain, which is the cost of no auto-battle. The game is in thirteen languages.

4

Can you play Crystal of Atlan with friends?

Yes — co-op dungeons are the core, guilds run team battles and Mine Wars is base-versus-base PvP; a June 2025 reviewer got hooked alongside a partner and a May review says everyone helps out. Cross-play between iOS and Android is one shared server population on the listing.

5

How long does Crystal of Atlan take?

The level cap of 60 falls fast — a March 2026 player reached it in three days, an August 2025 one hit 40 in two — and the game after that is sub-classes, gear enhancement, guild content and collaboration events. Daily play is limited by the 120-point energy bar, which reviewers say ends sessions before they want them to.
